Several assorted modifications to the single player campaigns have been made, usually along the lines of co-op/insane ai difficulty, but I felt the most interesting difficulty level would be found when facing another player! So I got to work...
Download
Relive classic missions against new unpredictable opponents! Crush StarCraft's protagonists from the position traditionally reserved for the computer!
Your techtree is limited to what you/the AI could build in the original mission.
Since hero units proved too easy to snipe, losing them no longer ends the mission, instead they will revive after a short time, a couple minutes in most missions so long as the player has an Altar (think war3 ) or Cerebrate in the case of Zerg. Losing the Altar prevents further revivals.
Additionally, some adjustments were made to level the playing field, usually in the form of starting forces/resources.
In the case of Zerg08, The Dark Templars themselves are still AI controlled, but their destinations when they spawn are now randomized rather than predetermined.
So far, the available missions are as follows:
Precursor (Demo/Prologue) -4, 5
Terran -03, 07, 10
Zerg -04, 06, 08, 09
Protoss -02, 03, 07, 08, 10
Enslavers -2B, 3A
BW Protoss -02-04, 07
BW Terran -01
BW Zerg -02, 03, 06, 07
Dark Vengeance -2, 4B
But there are more to come... for now, enjoy! Feedback/suggestions are of course welcome.
Known Issues - xProtoss04 and 07 will exit to the main menu, rather than the battle.net menu.

This is an awesome idea! I think I played a beta version of zerg08 that someone hosted, I don't know if it was you but it didn't seem like anything changed except for replacing AI with the player. Seemed grossly favored for the "AI" players because it was basically 2v1. Was still really fun though! I look forward to playing them online!

epic awesome omg omg omg. It's gonna be like helms deep... but way better.
Maybe we can make some modifications to the missions themselves to make them slightly more interesting as well??

This sounds like a really fun idea!

Now get the AI to play the human role lol.

I fully expected a total protoss conversion for terran and zerg campaigns. Like High Templar Raynor, Zealotyounglings, Kerrigan reborn in a Dragocoon and stuff like that.
Damn now I'm kind of sad it will never happen ...

Such a great idea! Well done

You can seriously wreck one of the protoss bases early on if you're quick though. And the Zerg certainly starts out with more stuff than in the original campaign mission.

Well, my goal here is to keep the flow and structure of the missions fairly close to the original while being beatable for both sides, so I don't plan on adding new mechanics besides the hero revivals or adding units that weren't present originally. That said I am open to considering suggestions. Or if someone wants to take the maps and do their own thing, that's up to them.

Or will there be two of them?

Your options for units are limited to what the computers are normally allowed to build, so you won't be able to make even DTs as a computer player in any of the maps currently released AFAIK (except zerg7x I think).

Great. Thanks for your work! Now I just need to find players interested in playing it

In xZerg07, Mind Controlling Duran simply returns control of him to the Zerg. So you'll have wasted your Archon.
