Hey, I'm not sure but I've always envisionned this as some sort of warm-up, like being ready to use their insane apm when it's needed (and that's why lots of player have like 300+ APM early because they do and undo and redo their control groups).

Product of a very boring first minute of the game I suppose. Looking for any conceivable thing of value to do.
'10 hotkeys of CC is marginally better than 1 hotkey so why not' I guess is the logic. When you got nothing better to worry about while you slowly produce 5 workers (in BW).

Injects only produce 3 larvaes instead of 4 On the other hand you can queue them (as in you don't need to wait for an inject to be over to be able to inject again, it will just queue up right after the current one) That means getting a macro hatch around the same time as your 4th is very common now.

It seems that it reduces macro skill a bit... was this the intention?

It seems that it reduces macro skill a bit... was this the intention? 1- Yes, as many as you want, and from as many queens as you want. 2- In a way yes, one of the main goals was to reduce the drawback of forgetting injects mid-late game.
