Shockers. As much as Durrant gets shit on for leaving and called selfish. Dude is legit the best scorer in basketball, if he had melo or westbrook mind set he would haverage 10 more points per game 0 assists, shoot worse % and win more MVP awards. Durrant might be a weirdo on social media but dude is a team player and awesome TEAM basketball player. Fuck he defends awesome too. Same, I find that somehow appreciation of Durant's skill gets lost in the hate. I for one think the hate for leaving OKC for the team that beat it and was already 73-9 with a championship warranted. It was an absurdly weak move. But on the other hand he's still one of my favorite basketball players. I can even empathize with his personality. He has this fake tough guy attitude, is insecure as fuck about how people perceive him, but deep down I think he's a good guy and all he does care about is playing good basketball, and that I can still respect, because I can verify it on the court. I just wish Durant had decided to not be an alpha dog ELSEWHERE and not GSW :D. A good amount of cool teams would have a high chance to contend with him and GSW without him. Now they have to wait, and he has to take the blame for being a weak competitor.

The problem isn't that he doesn't give up the ball or assist. The problem is that once he passes, he stops being a part of the offense.

I think the GSW's of 2015/16 are/were massively overrated. There has been 1 team in 25+ years that won a title with a guy under 6'6'' as its best player, and that is 2015 GSW. They also faced a no-Kyrie/Love Cavs in the finals (6 games by the way), got taken to 6 by the Grizzlies, and Houston imploded after the Clippers imploded against them.
Then the 73-9 GSW won all those games because they had the most effortless offense ever and were a year ahead of the league in terms of how BBall should be played. If that was a "regular" offense that was higher effort they are a 60-65 win team They beat OKC because of favorable refereeing and lost to a good, not great (for a championship team) Cavs team because of unfavorable reffing. If you reversed the reffing trends OKC win the WCF fairly easily IMO.
So, yes, it will always appear bad, but GSW was a much better playoff team with Durant than without. Arguably they could not have won another title without him but still won 65+ games every year because of the Regular Season- Playoff split.

The Austrian Hammer with an ice cold 3 ! ! ! Lowry is doing his Super Dave Osborne imitation again tonight.

the 2015-2016 Eastern Conference was better than the 2014-2015 Eastern Conference.

Lol Westbrook is above average?
He is a stat padder and a ballhog who doesnt want to do work when the ball is NOT on him. And he does not share the ball JJ, what games have you been "attending" lol. JimmiC and Jerubaal is right that his assist are not real assists that pgs like stocton, nash, cp. He makes the assists so he can get triple double. He doesnt pass because that is the best option, or so he could create for his teammates. He passes because he wants to get his numbers. There were many instances last year when he stopped passing after he got his 10th assist. And just as many when he got so angry at teammates for not finishing his assists with a shot.
|
And no, in 2016 Cavs were not the best. Draymond was an idiot and cost them the title. As well as Curry for not playing smart in close out games. And also Kyrie playing like crazy in the last 3 games of the series.
|
they had a 7 game series and Cleveland won. Draymond and Curry were not good enough and were part of the reason the Warriors lost and Cleveland won.
the final arbiter is the play on the court.

the overgeneralization that he is always fishing for assists is just that. an overgeneralization. i think he was fishing for rebounds. please see my comments in last year's thread about his rebounds. i didn't see him fishing for assists. i didn't watch him a lot though. so maybe he was sometimes.. and sometimes not. to claim every game that is all he was ever doing is stat-padding.. is incorrect.

And which game did you "attend"?

I think the biggest argument against Westbrook is to just look at how Kanter, Sabonis, and Oladipo are playing. The whole argument by Westbrook's fans was that his team was trash and he had to be a ball hog because nobody else on his team could do anything. All 3 of those guys are having fantastic seasons so far on other teams. Meanwhile, Me7o and PG13 are having shit seasons playing with Westbrook. If everyone that leaves your team plays better and everyone that joins your team plays worse then there's really only one common denominator.

He is like the Hulk who can mask his deficiencies with insane athleticism and gluttonous stat padding. He can equally wreck havoc on other teams and his own team alike. The problem with the OKC is, in the playoffs, when teams are really locking down on each other with scouting, matchups, and adjustments, Russ is trapped, and the only havoc he can wreck is to his team. RIP OKC. PG will be gone after ASG. Me70 can do anything he wants.

Lets not ignore Durant leaving. The player that knew him best obviously tried to reform him for nearly a decade, and yet could not. They lost a bunch of series because of injuries, but also lost some key series where they had much more talent, but did not win (2016 WCF is the ultimate example).

I don't think we get to see this Durant anywhere else except GSW and the Spurs. The guy wanted to be part of a team-based offense for the first time in his life, instead of carrying another clogged toilet offense.

But you are right, he is the best scorer and one hell of a team player. And the best thing in the this Snek saga is that never did he once diss on Russ while Russ made it known publicly he hates KD.
It's more like he's a basketball player who is unable to ignore the trolls on Twitter. You guys can't really criticize him for that since you are unable to ignore the trolls on this thread either.
I get that it's a skill that we expect famous people to have in this day and age but it's still weird to judge a basketball player mainly on having that skill or lack thereof.
