The internet in my place currently will drop and eventually kick back in. This can happen every 5 min to every 45 min. It happens on all devices in the house.
At first, I thought it was shitty internet at my former place, but I've moved and had the same problems at my new place too. Same company (Spectrum) but new router, ethernet cable, etc.
Wired vs wireless makes no difference and as mentioned all devices.
What i've recently learned is having CMD prompt open and doing the ipconfig/release and then ipconfig/renew will immediately reconnect me. In the last 40 minute BW game I just had, I must have done this at minimum 7 times. It will immediately reconnect once I renew. However clearly, this makes for an awful experience, and the game is still pretty shotty on connection in the interim.
Any ideas where to start? Or is this a "contact Spectrum" thing?

If a DHCP release / renew fixes it, then the problem is with your PC or router. Remove any 3rd party firewalls which may be blocking DHCP packets, update your router firmware or just set a static IP and be done with it. Also make sure you don't have a rogue DHCP server operating somewhere (eg a 2nd router).

For me it was broken router firmware. Router sometimes gave same IP for two devices in the network and internet was instantly crushing on both of them. Technical support offered me to update the firmware, but I just went to router settings and set DHCP address reservation for all my devices. I haven't experienced this problem ever since.

I tried setting a static IP, and for now it's been fixed, so I will assume doing that was what was necessary... not 100% sure, but as long as it's working for now, I'm fine. Thanks!
