What is your problem with PTR? Most people seem thrilled that blizzard is updating wc3. As I said above, the field of vision with the camera is pretty ridiculous now, as is the change to the basic movement speed. Apart from those two large things, there is the Far Seer change with Far Sight costing no mana (wtf?) and smaller stuff like 3-second invulnerability when casting Tranquility for Keeper as well as Firelord buffs (way too many) etc. Ignoring all that stuff, I have a general problem with Blizzard having a more "hands-on" approach. That begins with them suing Kespa and helping kill the professional scene over them being generally not competent at games anymore/having terrible business practices to what happened to BW after they released BWR. With their modus operandi, they would patch Warcraft 3 a bit, generate interest, announce remaster eventually to suck up as much money as possible while trying to control as much as possible which will split the community (again). I don't understand your problem at all. Those are incredibly weak heroes that should be buffed to spice up the game. 3 seconds of invulnerability for an ult that was otherwise useless seems like a great start. They already have all the control they could ever want with War3. They care about supported servers. One doesn't need "the most well supported" ones.
"Spice up the game"? Patches are supposed to make a game more balanced, not "spice it up". If things are balanced, players are able to tinker with their strategies and timings etc. It's an awful approach to deliberately overbuff/overnerf stuff.
A chunk of the player base isn't using their servers, so...

I have no idea what you're even saying here. What server do you expect to not use the new patch? I will tell you right now Netease will 100% adopt the new patch. Same with W3A. So many people are so hyped for this patch that there's simply no way any server will survive being like "lol #resist"

This zoom has got to go. It is just too zoomed out. Everything else is great, but WC3 is not the kind of game that benefits from being zoomed out.

Warcraft 3 in its essence is already more diverse since it has four races and not just three (though, it having limited supply in comparison + general speed limits it for sure).
While Netease is official, it's not really direct control. And even apart from that, there should still be alternative servers for Warcraft 3 in China, unless those got closed down (granted, it's not the majority anymore but still).

Having 4 races doesn't guarantee anything. You can still have dull matchups because of the same heroes and units present in a matchup. Warcraft is exciting when you see different heroes and builds.
On paper you're right, but that certainly wasn't the reality in the last few years. Which is why this patch is a welcome one.
I don't think there are any more platforms in China. They became obsolete because Warcraft 3 went F2P (in China) and Netease added a bunch of awesome features. It's pretty much as direct control as they're going to get. They control the platform + the competitive scene.

That's for each person to decide though, right? And like I said, balancing it is fine, overbuffing/overnerfing on purpose to change tactics forcefully instead of letting the players figure out things, so that the game shifts isn't the way to go. I've been watching Warcraft 3 for over ten years now (back when it was still airing on free-tv, Waaagh!TV to eventually online casts) and it's still fun to see regardless.
A lot of copies were pirated anyway, so F2P didn't really matter. Don't they have direct control over BW:R in China? That would be their end game here as well.

The community at large doesn't care about money though. So many people are so hyped for this patch that there's simply no way any server will survive being like "lol #resist" That's why I said I "hope". There is a saying here that translates to something like: "Hope dies last". There's like only a few hundred people playing on W3A, theres no fresh blood because they've mismanaged it. Netease is by far going to be the bulk of the community, especially competitive players. Nah, if you have seen BW, you would know better. Wrong: Bigger Screen = Smaller Units = Harder to micro. The Starcraft guys complain about it. Bigger screen makes it harder for them. Odd, isnt it? You showed two pages ago that you have no clue and now you are doing it again by comparing Warcraft III and "Starcraft" in that regard.

Right, and it's been 7 years since the last balance patch. I think people have had plenty of time to figure stuff out. A lot of the hero choices have been incredibly stale the last few years. I don't see how it's bad to buff unviable heroes instead of just going with the status quo until the end of time.

i think they zoomed out because of 24 player maps? That zoom needs to go. I want to play/see a fight in front of my view, not with a binoculars.

Rightfully so. No idea why they increase minimum movement speed drastically either. Well, I hope China will do their own thing and stick to the old version. I doubt Netease would spit in Blizzards face like that. And the community wont follow because that's where the money is. The community at large doesn't care about money though. The community cares about the most well supported servers, and the money attracts the top tier talent to Netease. I think even the offical ladder feeds into GCS. It can do both. If a game is figured enough, it can get stale but still balanced if its the same strategies over and over with no variation. And what chunk? There's like only a few hundred people playing on W3A, theres no fresh blood because they've mismanaged it. Netease is by far going to be the bulk of the community, especially competitive players. Nah, if you have seen BW, you would know better. On February 24 2018 07:01 Mohdoo wrote: This zoom has got to go. It is just too zoomed out. Everything else is great, but WC3 is not the kind of game that benefits from being zoomed out. Definitely. Warcraft 3 is a micro game, so one has to be somewhat up close. Being closer also makes larger fights harder which is a positive as it raises the skill ceiling. Try to argue against it. Or is your only argument: "SKILLCAP!!!"

Maybe we will finally get a WC3 sub-section on TL .

Does anybody get "A required file was not found on Battle.net" on the PTR too? I don't get into bnet.
