Hell yeah! Let's get the year started. Gotta find the start of spring games for a few teams.
|
Those 10-1 odds for Michigan seem a bit gracious.
|
Apparently the Jets, Vikings, and Cardinals all planning on making big-time video presentations to Cousins tomorrow. I guess that means that the Broncos are going to be drafting a QB with their first pick, unless Elway decides that he wants to roll the dice with someone like Keenum, Bridgewater, or even Foles.

in regards to this year's CFP - i think clemson are the big favourites. they're bringing back 3/4 of their defensive line (who are pretty much all first rounders if they had declared) to join dexter lawrence and most of their offense is still there (watch out for travis etienne to make a splash at RB). the only big question is whether kelly bryant will keep his job - sophmore hunter johnson and freshman trevor lawrence will be tough to beat out as they were 5 star recruits coming out of hs.

I agree. Plus the ACC Atlantic teams of Louisville and NC State should take big steps back. It's pretty much just going to be FSU vs Clemson deciding the division because the 3rd team might be Wake or BC. The Coastal will prob be deeper but their cross division games are GT (they've completely shut us down with their nasty defense and I have no reason it will be any different) and Duke who has dropped off from where Cutcliffe had them a few years ago. Avoid VT, Miami, and Pitt in the regular season who will prob be the division's top 3. Their OOC of A&M should be easier than Auburn. South Carolina might be better but they should cruise. Furman and Ga Southern should be freebies.
I don't think Kelly Bryant is all that good. I expect him to start the season like Stoudt did sharing time with one of the other 5 stars. Then the 5 star younger guy will take over after 3 or 4 games full time
honestly might be Clemson vs Bama round 4. I think UGA will be good but 2019 will be their legit title run with 3rd year Fromm/2nd year Fields and their 9 5 stars or whatever they added all getting experience and a year in college S&C

Redskins 2018 outlook is interesting. I think locking down Smith will allow them a little bit of stability in the QB position, and allow them to focus on defense. Last year the redskins showed flashes of greatness on defense against Raiders Giants, etc. Loosing Fuller will really hurt, but with Greg Manusky leading them I think they can start to gain stability. Running game is still up in the air. I wouldn't be surprised If they draft defensively or for a WR, and then hope that a hobbled together Perine, Kelly, and thompson can but up a mediocre run game. The first year has given Perine some real good experience, and If the O line gets healthy, he could start to get into his element here.
Virginia Tech as well has a bright future. Josh Jackson was really good and as a freshman, and I think this could be the year where they finally start delivering on the big games like Clemson.

49ers really poising to win the offseason/FA in the coming days/weeks. While the Browns are definitely putting pieces in place to possibly make the biggest improvements of any team, the difference in atmosphere with this team is night and day when compared to last year around this time. Adding Jimmy G, Sherman, and others in the future really make them a playoff contender. They’re also rumored to be in talks with Allen Robinson who, while injury stricken, will give Jimmy a deep threat. Really excited to watch them in September.

Yeah, I'm really pleased with how things are going for the Niners. Getting Jimmy G locked up is quickly solving our largest problems on offense. The Niners are now a destination for free agents (particularly those on offense), so there's a very good chance that they land top guys like Allen Robinson and Dion Lewis. If they bring in more O-line talent, they'll have a top 10 offense this year and may even push into the top 5. I think that the Niners defense is also deceptively better than it was on paper last year, which is a credit to Saleh's 4-3, cover-3 scheme. The Niners defense was really hung out to dry by the pre-Jimmy G offense, which was an exercise in offensive futility. The defense noticeably tightened up when the offense began sustaining drives. Sherman, regardless of the form that he comes back in, is going to be a big improvement over the corner that he replaced (Dontae Johnson, who was fucking awful). Plus, I have no doubt that he'll be able to coach up the young Niners secondary and coax some better performance out of them. Reuben Foster is a beast on the field, and it's starting to look like his DV situation is not as bad as initially thought. The DA may not even bring charges (deadline is Tuesday), so his suspension will likely be minimal, if there's any at all. This means that the Niners LB corps is in decent shape. The biggest need on defense is an edge rusher, and apparently the Niners may acquire Graham from the Eagles, which would be huge. A competent edge rusher will finally unlock Buckner, who is a monster in the middle of that line. I fully expect that the Niners will have, at the very least, an average defense next year instead of a bad one.

Dolphins are going to release Suh.
|
I wonder where he will end up, dude is a jerk and apparently bad for the locker room, but he still dominates the line. Bowns maybe? They can afford him and ditched Shelton.
|
Hard to imagine that Suh has been the highest paid Defenseman in the league since he signed with Miami. What a garbage deal lol, he wasn't that productive, plus he is on- and off-field cancer.
|
So the Saints apparently still haven't locked up Brees....
|
I'm sure they will figure out a deal. Saints fans and NFL fans in general will riot if they let Brees walk. Seeing him in another uniform at this point would be blasphemy, he IS the Saints. Most important player in that franchise's history.

if they don't get a deal done by wednesday they take an additional 18 mil dead money cap hit
|
I guess last time Brees was a FA he waited till the top guy signed then signed for 750k less a year. They were projecting he would do the same thing this year based on cousins deal.

It feels like Mia is looking to tank. They traded away/cut arguably their three most talented players. Suh's contract was absolute garbage and Landry will likely get over paid, But Ajayi contract was reasonable. I get the idea of a cultural reset, but to lose that amount of talent is going to be hard when they didn't have a ton to begin with. They better pray Tannenhill shows some major improvements or it could be the end of their coach and GM.
|
What the hell is a cultural reset? To suck? I don't get the Dolphins. They're making Cleveland Browns level moves right now.
Saints are courting Butler again. I hope he goes to them. After being benched for the SB, he should pull a Sherman and just bounce.
|
When I saw Miami play last year, their defense couldn't do anything when Suh was gassed. That's the downside of paying one player all that money.
I think Ajayi's knee concerns played a part in the Dolphins trading him away. RBs just don't last that long in the league and it's better to just keep grabbing youngsters late in the draft or in the undrafted free agent market.
