Want to know why the behaviour of other players bothers me so much regardless of the game mode?
It's quite simple, I play to win and nothing frustrates me more than being thrown into unwinnable games where:
- The matchup is BS. This happens a lot in QM because the matchmaking algorithm is incredibly borked and will generate terrible matchups like 3 Supports, 1 Specialist and 1 Warrior vs a more standard 2 Warrior 2 Assassin 1 Support comp where the unorthodox comp has nothing in the way of CC or peel. This also happens a lot in both Ranked and Unranked Draft modes. A lot of players who are last in pick order will refuse to fill roles for their own team and will deliberately sabotage the game by troll-picking. It's standard etiquette to fill in a MOBA and the fact that Blizzard does not ban players for doing this in a draft-dependent multiplayer game is asinine.
- Players refuse to do basic things like soak lane. Unlike other MOBAs where there is often a last hit macro mechanic and items to buy that will let you gain an edge over your opponents and carry your team to a win, HotS has none of this. You rely on your teammates being able to accumulate XP from a lane and in games where your teammates refuse to spread out to soak every lane or rotate, you will quickly lose from a snowballing XP deficit. I've had games since the 2018 HotS Meta update where I've lost in less than ten minutes from being 4 to 5 levels behind, and there has been nothing I could do about it. I try to tell these people politely to do things and my pleas either get ignored or met with animosity. That's what makes me lose my cool.
- Players recklessly place themselves in situations worthy of a Darwin award. For instance, I once had a demotion match on Sky Temple that went well. We were a level ahead, had an enemy keep pushed down and had won every team fight thus far. The game unfortunately got ruined by our E.T.C. tank who decided to try and solo a merc camp on the enemy side of the map without any kind of vision whatsoever, got ganked to shit in a 1v5, and died right before the altars were about to pop. This not only fed the enemy team a level and nullified our XP advantage, but also made us lose the subsequent team fight because we lacked a tank and made us outright lose the game because we wiped and the enemy team pushed our core. We tried to warn him via chat and pings that he was in danger and he chose to ignore us. As a result of this player's utter stupidity, I ended up getting demoted to a lower league. Can you really blame anybody for losing their shit and calling this person a fucking moron? Lately, I have also had perfect games where I haven't died once, did the most hero damage, did the most siege damage, landed a huge amount of kills and assists and soaked the most XP whereas my teammates have died 10+ times in a way that screams 'intentionally feeding.'
- Players who either disconnect or pull the plug on their internet connection. A lot of this can be boiled down to a bad game client or crappy netcode, but there are also players who will deliberately disconnect from a Ranked match as soon as it actually begins. Why? Because if they disconnect during the draft, they will lose 600 Rank Points as a leavers' penalty whereas if they wait for the game to start and ALT+F4 then, they'll only lose around 200 and will also screw over their team.
- Players who respond to your requests for help by telling you to shut the fuck up, get cancer, kill yourself, etc. This is the kind of toxic behaviour that Blizzard should be punishing.
I don't know why most of my matches are like this. I can't tell if it's because the EU server is a cesspool, because there has been a complete and utter brain drain from this game with more intelligent gamers flocking to better titles like PUBG and Fortnite, or because competitive players will only focus on the American or Asian servers. I used to play games like LoL and SMITE regularly and I never remember those games being this bad.
I think it could be a disconnect between server communities, because I played Overwatch Ranked on both EU and NA and had far better experiences with players actually using voice chat and working together only on NA whereas on EU you'd have people flame and hurl abuse in all kinds of languages.
I'd personally be playing HotS on NA if it didn't mean unacceptable latency and having to restart my account progression from scratch - because only Overwatch apparently deserves to have account progression and purchases transfer between servers because it's Blizzard favourite cash cow.
It's dumb that silences transfer between regions when actual progression doesn't. It's even dumber that in 2018 HotS doesn't have any sort of region transfer features, when other MOBAs have had this for years.
|
I completely agree that the team game is frustrating when you have to rely on your teammates, and you can play perfectly but still lose... but that's not an excuse to flame them, especially in non-ranked modes.
It's dumb that silences transfer between regions
Why? They want to silence you, not just your NA communication.
|
It's dumb because the fact that they enforce silences across regions tells me they have the technology to track account progression and purchases between regions, yet would rather make players grind or pay twice for the same items.
Also, it still doesn't explain why sarcastic remarks and light trash talk are punished so harshly in a game that has literally been rated T by the ESRB for having words like 'bitch' and 'ass' within character dialogue, and for having violence, suggestive sexual themes, drug use, etc.
It's even more hypocritical that Blizzard will suspend players for sarcastic remarks when the NPC Realm Lords of each battleground will throw out similarly insulting and sarcastic remarks. For example, Blackheart says sarcastically "Looks like a 'hero' has left the fight" when someone disconnects from the game. The Raven Lord will also sarcastically say "Talent? Hah. That seems generous!" when a player levels up and unlocks new talents. If players are being punished for lines as offensive as dialogue that NPCs throw out, then that's dumb. Players act like this behaviour and attitude is destructive to the game's community when characters in Blizzard's intellectual properties spout this kind of benign language on a regular basis.
In other Blizzard games there are NPCs that throw out similarly insulting dialogue to what earned me that 8 day silence. When you fight the Headless Horseman in WoW, he literally says to his body "Get over here you idiot!" when you burst down his hitpoints. Garrosh Hellscream calls Sylvanas a bitch in a main quest line in Silverpine Forest, which was dialogue actually written by a Blizzard employee.
Even in Heroes, D.Va's dialogue for example is rather BM and insulting. She berates the player for 'wasting left clicks' and even says "gg no re" in one of her lines. Blizzard have actually fined professional players in their leagues for less than the lines that some of their game's NPCs throw out.
I don't understand why Blizzard are holding their player-base to much higher standards of etiquette and behaviour than their content creators.
It's like Blizzard are trying to cater a game that little kids arguably shouldn't even be playing because of its teen themes and its lootbox gambling model towards little kids, because unsurprisingly kids who borrow mummy's credit card make freemium game devs a lot of money.
|
Perhaps it's because you have a toxic record and have been silenced multiple times already, that they're less lenient with you? I dunno, but I don't think your quotes are really comparable to the stock quotes made in the game, and it's gotta be bad if you get reported dozens of times.
|
I dunno, but I don't think your quotes are really comparable to the stock quotes made in the game
I dunno... I think it is.
I'd understand the moderators of a game like Club Penguin Island banning this kind of behaviour since it's a kids game marketed specifically for kids, and you don't want pre-teens getting exposed to anything remotely rude. The franchise in general also holds an E for Everyone rating with the ESRB. http://www.esrb.org/ratings/search.aspx?titleOrPublisher=Club Penguin
Heroes of the Storm on the other hand has a T for Teen rating, which informs consumers that the game contains crude humor, mild language and mild suggestive themes; among other things.
http://www.esrb.org/ratings/Synopsis.aspx?Certificate=33852&Title=Heroes of the Storm
But none of the chat logs Blizzard presented to me as evidence of my wrongdoing contained derogatory language that was on-par with if not worse than words like 'bitch' which are in the dialogue of characters in HotS and other Blizzard franchises.
and it's gotta be bad if you get reported dozens of times.
You do realise that players can and do abuse the report system on a regular basis, right?
There is even plenty of video evidence of professional gamers like Stalk doing it.
Here's another question for you. If the game's lead producer openly denounced this player's behaviour in a public statement on that very thread and vowed that Blizzard would investigate and take action, why has Stalk still been live-streaming on the same account on an almost daily basis?
It suggests Blizzard have not actually taken any action against this player's account two months on - despite irrefutable video proof that he has been regularly abusing the system by throwing fake reports at players for no reason.
What makes this worse is that Stalk was affiliated with Blizzard's official Russian tournaments casting team, and was actually a HGC analyst.
|
I have no idea why he's not being held accountable for his fake reports, and I agree that he should be, but it looks like the people who were reporting you weren't faking it, considering Blizzard actually cited your own remarks that they found offensive. The fact that Stalk is apparently a douche (I don't really know much about him) doesn't really excuse your behavior, imho.

I didn't know account progression in OW is worldwide. They really should do this in Hots as well. On this point I agree 100%. Maybe the language barrier makes it indeed a better experience in NA. In EU, I often feel the eastern countries have the most "problems" with adapting to a team game

If you can tell where a player is from, there is like a 95% chance they are idiots.
7 trolls in 5 games tonight, I might not be back, ever.
|
I don't think the problem is specifically with Eastern Europe. I think it's more to do with the toxic mentality of European gamers in general.
If the problem truly was coming from Eastern Europe and Russia, explain why there are so many world class Eastern European and Russian pro gamers. Also, explain why players from Russian battlegroups almost win every single WoW BG against players from European battlegroups?
In fact, the latter has become such a detriment to playing WoW battlegrounds on the European realms that players have actually taken to the forums to whine about Russian players and accuse them of hacking, when actually they're just more well coordinated and willing to work together than Europeans - because surprise, surprise, teamwork wins team games.
The difference is actually quite profound when you play Overwatch Ranked on either NA or EU. On EU people often spew bile at their teammates either in English or their own native tongue, whereas on North America people actually shotcall, try to work together and try to cooperate.

I think you absolutely got a point there!
But this is still a QQ thread

I'd like to request a return of my lost 15min carrying a game only to get dropped by b.net and for my entire team to be wiped and losing the core before i even reconnected (all took 90s)
|
I've fkn had it with this game, can't queue QM for a decent experience due to the matchmaking being even shittier than usual, can't queue unranked draft because people pick whatever the fk they want anyway without giving a single fk about team comps and guess fkn what, in HL I meet people who think going triple tank is a brilliant strat to "blindside" the opposing team and two of them manage to die 16 times combined within 15 mins. I know I definitely should take a (loooong) break from this BS and not rage that much about it, but WTF is wrong with these people?!?! I just don't get it, what's fun about being such a shitnugget that you cannot even grasp the simple idea of trying to not die all the fkn time and maybe soak some exp? I'm by no means a superb player but people are SO FKN SHITTY at playing this game it's unbelievable...
|
I got reported by a silver player today who I saved twice . After he suicided from a safety again, he went on to akf push a lane alone and we lost.
I love this game, it's so fun.

'If you win consecutively, you will be matched with better players. Utter bs. Win 5. get to promote game. Here carry this rock of an ETC around your neck. Ah, you can't carry the cow that tries to take a camp at 1:30 alone, on the other side of the map as the objective, beginning as the objective starts. Walks away when realizes it will take 10 min.
Next game. oh, people that aren't rocks?
Promote game. Oh you are back. Here carry this Artanis that is literally never at the objective, is shocked that we lose every one because he is either dead just before due to invading their camp while three are SEEN to rotate to it, or because the camp on the other side of the map is more important.
Next. oh more nonrock people.
Promote game. Here, carry this Naz who had less xp, less damage, less siege damage than everyone but Deckard.
|
Thrall player expected me to solo lane on Hammer instead of him. He also didn't manage to complete Echo of Elements in a game where we lost on level 17.
|
Who ask for another Tyrand rework other than people who dont play her ?

I've tried my promo game from plat to dia like a millions times now. Just can't do it

Okay that's it
Mephisto is absolutely bullshit and Blizzard knew it. Maximum cash grab. No skill hero with zero skill ult that is absolutely broken beyond repair. And that lvl 20 upgrade is just ... there are no words for that

I own him and I still think "good way to destroy your game blizz" A hero who has no idea where I am, but stilll kills me. Really good job of making a interesting game. And playing him myself I feel the same way. What a fucking bullshit

Guys, don't rage on QM, since it's full of randomness starting from team comps and skill levels. Just get over it.
I've experienced dozen of games in which I had to go solo lane on Nova for some time while my mates did relentless fights near watchtowers.
Mephisto is hard to deal with bad mechanics and movements, his lvl 20 ulti looks a bit OP indeed.
