England is mostly trying to earn cheap fouls in dangerous areas or corner kicks and he's a good player for that. Then Harry Kane grabs his opponent before falling on the ground when the defender reacts in the same way.
After all of that they go full judgemental on how the Colombians were dirty. The Uruguyans were playing tough as well and did not have any problem against the Portuguese or the French because the teams played it fair and tough, no sneaky provocation like the English did all game against Colombia with the ref in their pocket.
Its hard to take this seriously when you obviously have an axe to grind against England. I can't tell if you're trolling. How come the England vs Sweden game wasn't out of control like the Columbia game? Because Sweden are professionals whereas Columbia were basically trying to bully a bunch of kids and failed lol.
ps did you enjoy Mbappe rolling around screaming because he ran past someone against Uruguay?

Of course there's a difference, making space and not taking chances are two completely different things?! The point is, if the whole formation/style of play relies on Sterling making the space, then it is worth the missed chances to be able to play the preferred tactics. Of course we all want him to be better on the ball and score some goals, but Rashford isn't even that much better in that regard and playing him doesn't come with the tactical advantages that Sterling gives you.

Of course the problem with these kinds of analyses is that if one or two of the 45754 clear chances Brazil had vs Belgium had gone in, we'd be talking about Brazil's dominance in football.
I think it all comes down to circumstances, since world cup comes down to single elimination. Argentina had big chances against Germany which Messi and Higuain should have scored. This time, Colombia missed their best player and still got to penalty stage, while Brazil created way more chances than Belgium, just weren't as clinical as they should (+random own goal which allowed Belgium to find space in the first half)

Look, the point is, regardless of his value to the team + Show Spoiler +
(which is there clearly because if he wasnt bringing it he wouldnt be an automatic starter on the most dominant attacking team in PL History)
if you think that we are going to sit here and not bag on him for fucking up guilt edged chances .......
Sorry he doesnt get to be that good at the game and get a pass for having a very obvious weakness which is essentially the most critical part of your game, something that he is still struggling to resolve.
If he can fix that part of his game he'd be the best player on his team. Till then we are going to keep Loling at him. I am not saying he shouldnt play. There is no one better, but my god he is wasteful.

I'm not saying don't lol at him. I was swearing at him very loudly from my sofa yesterday, but its still worth playing him.

Well most of the comments during the game were shitting on him for lacking an end product. very few if any+ Show Spoiler +
(with some notable exceptions who dont know anything about the game anyway despite how much they seem to invest in it)
I know it’s painful for English fans but let's remember the Euro's. Yeah, I know bummer. Sorry. Forget about England at the Euro’s and look at Portugal. That terrible Portugal side playing god awful football got a final against France by only beating Croatia, Poland (only on penalties) and Wales. They also finished third in the group not winning a game against Hungary, Iceland or Austria. Somehow Ronaldo fans use this as proof that Ronaldo is the best player and carries his team despite the fact he only scored one goal in the 4 knockout games and only 3 in total from 7 games against really poor sides. Anyway, enough Ronaldo bashing. The point I am trying to make is that Portugal were terrible got a lucky draw and took their chance against France! This is a positive story to emulate. There is hope for England. We can do it!

England does not play Portugal type of football and they are not that fucking lucky. It is a terrible idea to use that to boost your morale.

Ronaldo fans use it because he won a title with Portugal. The how is forgotten 20+ years later
England are not the best team in the world right now by a long shot and no one is claiming we are. It's probably one of the worst teams we have ever sent. But we have the best chance in a long time. We are better than that Portugal side was and playing much more positive football I didn't mean to compare the football just the lucky draw and a poor team who have a chance to somehow fluke into a final. If you are in the final you have a chance to win it. Belgium and France are both better than us that is pretty much a fact. But it's football the best team doesn't always win. If we can beat Croatia and get in that final we will have a chance. Come on England!

Right.
Marco Tardelli won a WC with Italy and scored in a Final. Clearly the GOAT.

Right.
I dunno man I think England this World Cup has been playing much better than they have been for the past two decades, even without a star-studded squad. Their game plan is simpler, but at least it's a clear plan with everyone contribution their bits --- and Sterling doing whatever the fuck he's doing. So saying that they're one of the worst teams is a bit harsh.
