Show nested quote + The founders of struggling space company Astra have offered to take the company private at a value of about $30 million, according to a securities filing on Thursday. Chris Kemp, chairman and CEO, and Adam London, chief technology officer, delivered a proposal to the Astra board of directors on Wednesday to acquire all the company’s outstanding stock at a $1.50 a share. That price is a 103% premium to Wednesday’s closing price at 74 cents a share, which represents a market value of about $16 million. Astra’s rocket launching business has been on hiatus since a June 2022 mission failure and the company is running out of cash, with its acquired spacecraft propulsion business yet to drive meaningful quarterly revenue. The company cut 25% of its workforce in early August to shift focus from its rocket development to its spacecraft engine production. Source Is it honestly even worth it at this point? All rockets have explosives on them; to blow them up in case of an anomaly during flight as they would be over the ocean in a matter of seconds.

It's guaranteed to be exciting watching a flammable skyscraper take to the skies. I'll be awake and ready. This is definitely going to be exciting. I'm hoping it completes the test and they get enough valuable data to turn it around by March. Get another set and then it's on to payloads. I'd bet end 2024 we get the first crewed mission and then 2025 we have this going every 2-3 months. I'm also really looking forward to how they're going to release payloads and how they're going to fit it for humans to ride it. The concepts look dope. But until I see actual work being done, I'm assuming they're strapped in on fruit crates.

I wonder how much testing is required for the actuator now to make sure it's g2g. Is it an all day thing now since they delayed and they can do a couple hours of just rotating and checking?
