Most of what you've mentioned has horrible plot summary. In some I've seen the word 'school' and in one I've even noticed some sort of loli or something which put me off right out, Desert Punk seemed promising until I saw some short footage onYT and big bouncing boobs is a no go, Akagi also looked like it could be nice but again, the characters are drawn in a very terrible terrible way there.

I've yet to find anything remotely as enjoyable as Ergo Proxy. I'm a little sad that i've finished it . Most anime people talk about in this thread look/are hilariously bad :/ Hello my fellow Cyberpunk anime lover! I'm assuming that's the genre you're referring to. Here's some more: -Ghost in the Shell -Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex -Akira -Bubblegum Crisis -Metropolis -Boogiepop Phantom (This isn't exactly cyberpunk, but it's dark, confusing, and really cool) -Neon Genesis Evangelion (Doesn't fall into the cyberpunk category, but it's very interesting) -Serial Experiments Lain -Texhnolyze Some of the most well known ones off of the top of my head.

How have you not seen Lain
Other than that, I think you're running out of good cyberpunk anime, unless someone else knows of a bunch I haven't heard of.

I hope Futakoi Alternative is the one you searched instead of just Futakoi, because the latter does indeed have lolis while Alternative has women who turn the legal age of marriage in Japan mid story. The loli aim isn't really that much of a deal, no big romantic notion is made about the girls until they turn legal anyway. Also, it's hard to take the whole series seriously
Akagi has a good story, if you don't like the artwork you don't have to watch it. It's a good series that deserved a mention.
Desert Punk does have some ecchi sequences, if you're put off by the fact women like to take advantage of the fact the main character is a pervert, I'm sorry. However other than towards taking advantage of males, nothing else is really done with it.
Also, sometimes plot summaries just don't get things done right. Try the first episodes, except for Tower, try episode two, because the first is a parody of the whole genre.

Just finished Akagi today. I really liked this show even tho i didnt understand most of the happening in the actual games of mahjong because ive never even seen it till then. The animation was not really good with wierd drawing. But for some reason episodes seem to really fly by and was really hooked to it.
One interesting thing about this anime is that there is no girl chars at all. It was only males gambling its a first for me

The only problem I had with Akagi was towards the end the episodes ended up deteriorating into repetitive explanations :/
The anime was awesome before that though, and at first I thought it would suck because of the weird animation and because it was about mahjong.

If I recall correctly the anime had past the manga at that point. That's why it was a 13 episode arc, otherwise it was pretty good.

So the entirety of your decision not to watch Desert Punk wasn't from watching a full episode, but you saw some bouncing boobs, and that immediately turned you off to the point where you refused to watch it? o.O
I stopped watching it myself, but the few episodes I watched weren't bad. The only reason I stopped watching was because I couldn't handle the horrible English voices any longer (was watching it on Netflix streaming, which currently doesn't have any subtitle/language settings).

Surprised no one started hyping Angel Beats yet even with it showing up on the rough draft chart, the mind behind Clannad and LB + Aniplex + IG production for an original animated series? Give me now.
Druaga is a parody of the whole genre, but it is also more or less promotion for a game, really couldn't stomach that after a while.
Also, someone brought up that he wanted to watch some steam punk anime a few pages back, after racking my brain, I can't seem to find all that many that fits that definition (before turning to Ghibli anyway), anyone with any in mind?

Eh, I am just going to watch Angel Beats because it is made by Key but I am not expecting too much.

In addition, the story sounds so ridiculous it just might work. Seriously though, it should be a pretty decent show, considering Key's track record. I know I'm looking forward to it.
On a different note, this is kinda hilarious.

Druaga kind of lost steam after the amazing first episode. Never touched it ever since.
Haha that's pretty amazing

Hope to not have to face disappointment again

Well, as I'm getting closer and closer to my 30's I become a bit more picky. I just can't stand anime about teenagers/perverts any more. I only want to see what's the best out there, in graphics, animation, plot, characters department. But I guess they don't make anime like Cowboy Bebop and GITS any more I guess I'll just re-watch Visions of Escaflowne now, since I've seen all else on my list quite recently (again).

Don't know if you've seen it, but Full Metal Panic! is my favorite anime series of all time. Yes, there are heavy elements of school life, but that's mostly gags on how a former child guerrilla has trouble fitting in. FMP was the primary reason I liked KyotoAnimation, not Haruhi season 1.
Anyway, there's suppose this litmus test to see how much of an anime otaku you are, via identification of 300 anime songs in the year 2005-2008.
Here
I was able to identify 102 songs, but there's a lot of anime I watched back then that I would never watch now. 270 is suppose to be the passing benchmark for being a true otaku.
