This thread shouldn't get bumped for "yeah that was a good part in the book"
IT KILLS ME.
FUCK when is a dance for dragons going to come out?
I got really sad/scared when I saw that pic of martin.. he looks older and fatter. If he dies before that book comes out I will Dante his ass so fast. I second this, someone get him healthy =[ I imagine and dread he dies before finishing series and then some lame ass ''successor'' writes abysmal ending ;/ Martin has stated that should he die before he finishes the series, he will not let someone else finish it. That's right, if he gets hit by a bus or has a heart attack, the series will just never get completed.
I only just noticed your location ^^
He sure knows how to make a lot of people pray for his health :D

just over 1/3 of the way through the first book now and loving it spent about 4 hours reading before I went to sleep last night simply because I couldn't put it down, Tyrion so far seems like quite an interesting character and I like Jon Snow's although currently he is stuck on the Wall yet I have a suspicion his role will develop, the mystique surrounding his Mother seems to me like it might play a big part later on in the book.
Thanks so much for reccomending the books in this thread, last time I got hooked into a series like this was The Dark Tower series and that was ages ago.

Wow that is hot.
Anyway I don't care, nothing eases the pain of waiting for the fifth book (and the others of course)

also, Jennifer Ehle is no longer Catelyn Stark, and is now going to be played by Michelle Fairley, who's been primarily a stage actor.

Arya and Bran are seen by many as 2 of the hardest roles to be played well, and are obviously crucial characters to the story. Especially given how young the actors are in such an adult show, people are concerned about these beloved characters. Well George R .R. Martin shared with us 2 photos of Maise Williams, courtesy of her mom, preparing for her role as Arya, my favorite character from the books.
She looks exactly how I imagined Arya to be in these pictures. Imagine how she'll look after professional costume/makeup.
"Her sword, of course, is the full-scale replica of Needle produced by the good folks at Valyrian steel."
other news: Filming is set to resume in June. Re-casting for Daenerys continues.
EDIT:
UPDATE: Two additional photos were published on the site of Valyrian Steel, the company producing replica swords from the universe of ASoIaF. Despite being right-handed, Maisie Williams is holding their Needle replica – a gift from George R.R. Martin himself – in her left hand, as Arya would. Talk about character immersion!

I got really sad/scared when I saw that pic of martin.. he looks older and fatter. If he dies before that book comes out I will Dante his ass so fast. I'm worried as well but he is only 62. Even being that fat I don't see him dieing in the next 10 years. Should be plenty of time to write three or four more books as long as he doesn't get side tracked by his other projects. Luckily for us he writes more as one book at the same time. While his main focus is of course on a dance of dragons he also writes chapters for the other books and keeps moving chapters between the books all the time. So we probably won't have to wait for the other books as long as we wait on dance.

Arya is my favourite character too. Unfortunately in my head she looks really different.
But HOLY SMOKES, New Dany is straight up BJUEJULAR

So I wouldn't be too hopeful about The Winds of Winter (or whatever the title will be at release) being finished shortly after Dance.

ahhhhhhhhhhh maisie williams looks EXACTLY like i pictured arya, that last picture is so perfect
|
Arya does not look like a boy. She looks like a cute little girl with a sword rather than some bad ass bitch.
|
She also is missing the horse face.
|
she doesn't have the makeup, i'm sure they'll make her look way less girly
|
also love the arya actress, it's not that i have an exact picture in mind, rather a foggy image of how she should look like (same with all characters) and this girl definitely comes close.
i'm curious what the work on the hbo series means for the release of Dance, martin said writing the script for the series was next on his to do list, so..
