Been playing this for a week now, really addictive and awesome despite the slight bugs.
Username on WoT - Ziken
Also, I wanted to know if anyone else is interested in playing together as a platoon, or just having a chat channel for discussion.
Edit:
nvm, just saw that coldwave has created a tl channel already, but if anyone wants to play together, post with your timezones and what times are good for you.

Look at those sweet things coming for us in the next patch :D Guns for T9 meds (Among other stuff) : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8957082/omgtops.jpg Of course the tanks themselves will be there too. ^^ Other new tanks : t9 russian TD (Object 704) t6 and t7 artilleries for everyone (russian already have their t6 arties so they just get the t7) rus : object 212 ger : Geschutzwagen Panther and Geschutzwagen Tiger usa : M12 and M40
new maps, a new game mode ...
It was just introduced in some russian public test server so we actually got some real news (the specs of the guns for instance). Really looking forward to it. ^^

I'm mostly looking forward to matchmaking fixes and the new game mode. The game is very fun when you are placed against tanks you can actually kill.
|
Has anyone found this game completely frustrating after awhile?
Maybe because I'm using only Tier 1-3 tanks, I don't find the matchmaking so terrible. I don't really find invisible tanks from 500m away knocking your tracks out to be that terrible.
What I do find terrible are those bloody SPGs. Sometimes the system would put 5-6 SPGs and it would be a nightmare for any other tank on the field. After reading the official forums, I see that it's a major concern to the community for awhile.
I do enjoy Tier 1-Tier 2 battles when there's no SPGs around. There was one time where I had my little Panzerjager defending our base and I killed 7 guys thanks to the help of other teammates spotting for me.
..But when artillery is there, I'd probably rage hard enough to be banned from TL.
|
In the higher tier battles there are rarely more than 2 or 3 arties per team per battle. I can't really complain about that really. Especially considering a majority of those arty players are pretty bad. 99% of the time when I die to SPGs its really because I was immobile in a clear spot (ie. perfect shot for arty).

LanTAs.LanTAs
im in driving a panzer 3 i think...
|
This game is pretty awesome artillery is pretty damn annoying tho gotta constantly keep moving which is hard since im playing a tank destoryer, not very mobile
Searched for a TL channel couldnt find one so made one but apparently already is one so I'll search again

There's already a chan (the one by ColdWave). I'm always in there when I'm online.

Ah okay whats the details? didnt see it

What's with all the interest in this game now that I'm back home without WoT for a month? I hope the higher tier arties will shoot faster, can't imagine that it could get any slower with the firing rate. Imagine T9 arty coming out, firing once every 1.5 minute because they would have to have a Tier 12 gun or something like that.
SPGs aren't really a problem, people who rush out there without cover deserve to be shot at. Higher tier arties are not accurate at all, can only hope for splash damage.

Faster firing artillery will just lead to more camping, which I hear is prevalent in the higher tier battles.
Even with an indirect shot, an SPG can immobilize your tank, and you're pretty much doomed.
Some people have to rush. The reason for them rushing is to spot their SPGs... that's unfortunately reason why light tanks are put in the middle of heavy tank battles I guess.

One thing im HATING right now, First level destoryer: AMAZING, Love it accurate, can hit moving targets going 5+ most games. Can usually take 2 hits to the front 3 if lucky.
Second destoryer: TERRIBLE Cant hit a stationary target 30 foot away, and getting one shotted alot by anything that isnt a light tank.

Camping is highly prevalent in higher tier battles because people don't want to lose their tanks by stupid stuff. You lose in overall credits if you don't camp/have support starting from T8+ even with premium when you lose the battle, unless you were good.
SPGs main targets are heavy tanks in the open, they are just doing their job. If you're a heavy tank out in the open without support, the enemy team will light you up with or without artillery.
Scouts get exp for spotting other tanks; most scouts join games to rush to the enemy and hopefully get that scouting medal before they die and join another game. Spotting SPGs are just a bonus. Saving scouts for the mid-game can work wonders, but it depends on the type of player driving the light tank.

Im starting to grow a hate for this game now, the amount of times I've been one shotted by Medium tanks blindly through bushes to my front armor, Note im a destroyer I should at least be able to take two hits to front usually and spot them before they see me when im fully concealed in a bush and they're out in the open is getting silly. And I cant even penetrate their side armor with armor piercing (hit someone 5 times all bounced off he turns one shots me...) This is with 2nd Teir Destoryer, I was going 5+ most games with Teir 1 all I have to say is, Nice balance..

Which TD are you using? The Marder II is, what I believe, to be the best Tier 2 TD out there atm. It's the Hetzer that sucks (which is Tier 4), which you need to get before you unlock the Jagdpanther (which is Tier 5 awesomeness).
If you're using the American TDs, or any American tanks at all, don't. Apparently the Russian devs made American tank armor paper.

Hells yeah!
Christmas and New Year holidays are nearing. World of Tanks Developers Team decided to make a gift to the players. And we are glad to announce the launch of the Special Holiday Campaign - from December 20, 2010 till January 2, 2011 all the players will be given 500 gold daily (and it doesn’t matter if you played a battle or not). In addition to the increased daily gold giveaway, some other pleasant surprises are also possible.
Enjoy World of Tanks during your Holidays!

Im using the Marder II but with first level gun (last level of previous TD) cant even dint the side of med tanks, thankfully im on the 2nd gun of it and im starting to do some damage, but im sick of suicide scouting for Iwin buttons (artillery) that one shot me because im so slow D:
Edit: Once again perfect flank on artillery dont get scouted untill im close to them by one of the lights that held back, all of a sudden BAM dead, not even a chance to react. :/ Balance plz.
|
Complains about balance in low tier battles makes me lol What you have to consider is that some players there are high tier experienced players who bought a t2/t3 tanks and fully equiped it with modules and expendables and everything to roflpwn true beginners. Like twinks in WoW or any mmo I guess ..
Also, JagdPanther is tier7, not 5. And some US tanks are pretty awesome. I'm loving my T32.

Please tell me if im wrong tho TD's feel so underpowered, getting three shot by lights, two shot by meds if im lucky and one shot by heavies. Yet I cant three shot ah eavy with best gun on marder II and premium ammo at almost point blank range.. :/ (I carry 10 Premium shells just for heavies <3)
Edit: Just got killed scouting back enemy lies for artillery while there was 5 guys left, their scouts were forward near our base and I couldnt find their arty. I got shot by their arty 20 foot away before I could see it in a bush that didnt even cover half of it. C'mon fucking really? I get spotted in a bush that covers my DT fully by a guy half the map away, game needs fixing/balancing.

Heavies are going to be (at least) 2 tiers ahead of you, which is a pretty hefty difference. The fact that you can even scratch heavies is pretty major, considering other T3 units like the PzIIIA, Pz38, and the Luchs will bounce round after round off of a T1 Heavy or KV1.
That said, TD's are difficult to play because getting tracked means you're in major trouble, and until you get up the tree (especially for Germany) you've basically got wet toilet paper for armor.
