A few points though. Eating meat is perfectly normal and quite healthy. Many vegetarians actually gain fat/weight due to eating a lot more carbs like pasta and less protein/good fats from meats which keep you full . And working out is a huge component to losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Also, BMI is a very poor measurement of health as it does not take into account the weight of muscle or body fat% I have a borderline obese BMI yet i am perfectly healthy weight for my body composition.

I envy some of you, I have trouble gaining weight. I'm 5'10" and 115 lbs. The only thing I've ever done that works was chugging protein shakes which isn't something I view as ideal. Then you aren't eating enough. You may think you are, but you aren't. Eat 500 calories over your maintenance and you are guaranteed to gain weight. Honestly, reading that you are 5'10" and 115 lbs actually annoys me, thats how much I weighed in 4th grade... To the op: stop losing weight now, you will look like a holocaust survivor if you keep on going without adding some muscle. lol@ humans are Carnivores, we aren't. Humans are omnivores, just look at our teeth.

Since Im Chinese, I practically eat rice every single day so cutting on carbs is good. Thats only if you're not extremely active like me. edit: And damnn, 5'10 and 115LBs is on the verge of starvation... Considering Im 5'11 and weigh 180!

I actually struggle to see how people get overweight in the first place. I'm educated on all the reasons people become overweight, but as a 5'11" male who eats whatever he wants and stays around 138 it's just hard to comprehend heh

I wouldn't say that vegetarianism is an answer to weight loss, though. It's highly individual and it doesn't change the fact that The answer to weight loss is calories in < calories out. How you manage that is up to you. But, as you self noted, you lose a lot of natural/easy attainable protein on a vegetarian diet. Protein is especially important while losing weight if you don't want to lose muscle mass as well. For myself, I would never consider not eating meat, as I find it easier to keep a well balanced diet (and it's freakin' tasty). But everyone has to find a diet that fits them, and it seems like that's what you've done - so good for you!

I've been a vegetarian for just about 10 years. I've always been underweight, even before I went vegetarian. Here is the true secret, and it's worked for people around me as well: + Show Spoiler + Lots and lots of games. So much games that you go "hungry... one more game..." then "fuck it i'm gonna sleep" when you're done with that game. Just ask Heen how well this works.

And dont eat that much in the evening, that's the most important. All of theses diets like atkins etc are stupid, look at the sportsmens, they eat like 2 normal guys, and they are very fit, just make exercise. If you can go to swimming pool or badminton, theses 2 sports are one of the most calory burning. ps ; sorry for my engrish.

The funny thing about ketosis diets is that if you're looking to lose fat and preserve muscle mass, they're as good as it gets. People tend to overdo them (eat no carbs AND no fat because "fat makes you fat"), and then shit hits the fan. I agree wholeheartedly with the rest of your post though. Eat well and play hard
