On day 1 i ate fine and everything was ok, but today im running into trouble finishing my meals. Like for breakfast i had scrambled eggs, sausage links, water, and i barely ate 60% of it (i had 3 links and probably a little more than 1 egg worth of scrambled). At lunch i had squash/roasted peppers + chicken salad, and i barely ate 1/3 of it. And not at the fact that im trying to forcefully not eat, but ill eat some of it, then feel full, even though i feel like i should be eating more. Is this normal? or am i just not adjusting to new foods correctly yet? Going to cook dinner here soon, chicken + vegetable stir fry and little bit of white rice, hope its good =D
As you begin working out and increasing your BMR you'll find yourself eating more. If not i'll just stop by and finish your meals ^_^

No you wont. I will! Hahaha :D

Can anyone estimate my BF%? I'm on SS. Thinking of cutting because I honestly hate being this fat. 145 lbs, 5'9" 15 year old. Can you cut on SS and still make gains? I'll be getting in a bit over 145 grams of protein a day...

To ya'll in the last two pages giving advice, I do appreciate it. The reason I ordered the elliptical (aka the reason I asked my mom to order it) is because I don't have a drivers license and within no reasonable walking (or running/etc) distance of a gym.
One reason why I don't exercise too much is because it bores me, ipod or not. At the gym, there is nothing to relieve that boredom. I got the elliptical, put it in my bedroom, and turn my speakers up and watch TV shows or whatever, instead of sitting idly.
I'm aware there's better ways than buying a magic machine, hopping on it and hoping for the best, but it's just how I'm getting started the way I'm most comfortable doing. Thus far, in the last 24 hours, I've been on it for 3 hours. I haven't drank anything other than water all day, and ate a little lighter. Thus far, it feels good. Sure, there are better ways of doing things, but I'm happy starting with what I'm comfortable with.

Like someone said some pages back, better a plan you can adhere to than the optimal choice that you'll never follow

Try not to do chronic cardio though--it's good to just get your heart rate up a bit and break a sweat. Three hours is likely way too much and will just burn you out and, as you said, be boring.
You could also work in some pushups!

To anyone who plays a sport of any kind, i HIGHLY suggest you get on the olympic lifting hype train. I have never felt so good as i did today at practice. I even ate like shit before hand (caved in and had pizza for the first time in a month, it was free ) but i straight murdered on the rugby field. I out cut and burned the fastest kid on our team twice in open field and then straight owned him defensively in the open field. Kids were literally falling over as i was cutting around them. Not to mention made all my tackles and in general just played at a higher level than usual.

Yeah getting active is the first step ^_^ I used to find the gym boring too, just kind of going in and burning time till i felt i had been productive. Now its something i look forward to all the time. I felt like a bum all weekend just dying to get into the gym tomorrow. Once you start going to the gym with a set program and setting new records and pushing yourself everyday at the gym feels like you're challenging yourself and becoming a better person. Caffeine(or w/e preworkout shake) + music (<3 trance) will really get me in the mood to workout if i'm not already.

I'd hazard a guess in the 18% range give or take. Personally i think you'll be better off eating like a horse and getting as much gains as you can out of the program (rippetoe speaks of people putting on 55 pounds with 35 of that being pure muscle) and then slimming down afterwards. Otherwise eat for maintenance and the increase in muscle will lower your bf%
Here's the pics of me i posted a while ago as a testament to what can happen by the time you finish SS

Wow dude, again, almost the exact same thing going on.
I don't have a gym nearby (can't drive unfortunately, long story) - and I also am at work about 12-13 hours a day, sometimes on weekends too.
So - as ironic as it sounds - when I get home I jump on the bike, and ride... while watching bw or sc2 vids/streams. Sounds quite hilarious when I think about it - but generally I like to put on a vod that'll go for at least 30 minutes, ride it out, and as the game goes on I use a program thingo on the bike that takes the tension higher as it goes on.
I'll then usually jump on the bands, and do some simple arm stuff for a little bit, then use a higher tension band for squats.
As mentioned above - given that this works for me so far, I figure it's the best way to start up, I might not reach my goals as previously stated, but with the workout + basketball on Thursday nights, it's a good start I believe. Once things get a little more progressed I'll try and see if I can work out getting to a gym or something.
As mentioned in my last post - I've had some issues with my lower abdominal/groin region and it feels very weak - what's the best thing for me to do for this area?

roman chair sit ups, regular sit ups, squats, deadlifts, power cleans and even pull ups all increase your core strength

why do you think you have weird nipples decaf?
|
Yeah, pretty standard nipples imo.
|
had the usual monday workout. 5x5 is pretty taxing. you really have to be careful with your rest periods otherwise you'll end up flat in the end.
did some inverted rows for the first time in my life. they're so much easier compared to pull ups. besides elevating your feet and lowering the bar, it's pretty hard to add progressive resistance without the weighted vest.
then i threw in some leg extensions and hammy curls for good measure. i'll have to add some calf/hip work as well the next time around...
|
went to the gym this morning, and as i started doing power cleans (went a lot better than last time btw! progress ftw), the song "drop the world" from lil wayne started playing. now, im usually not a huge hip hop fan, but listening to this badass rapper screaming "i will pick the world up and drop it on your f*cking head" as I was literally lifting huge weights and letting them drop to the floor with a boom felt kinda nice
then went home, ate beef, chicken, fried eggs, carrots, onions and red peppers until my stomach almost burst and watched californication. good way to start a day

anyone got anything for black eyes? turns out tackling someone's knee with my eye was not a good idea. also like 1/4 of the skin on my head is numb from said collision...

A clean tackle is done with your face? :O

wish there was a way to describe how awesome it feels to knock out heavy squats and deadlifts to people weary about starting strength. the energy rush and sense of accomplishment is fucking unreal. I know funkie/shallow/neco/drowsy/etc can all testify to this
