The excess of queens prevents early rushed air harass and teaches the benefit of creep spread. The rush to two saturated bases both shows the importance of droning opportunistically and teaches the new Zerg to rush ahead with drones. The reliance on scouting pushes new Zergs to learn tells for early rushes and preserve their early lings for information. It all ends up with a super-strong mid-game that can fork in any number of directions.
This build has won me games by following it like a textbook, but it has also helped me actually learn the parts of my build that used to get me killed in what I felt were "random" ways (it was almost always over-mining gas or failing to drone up enough prior to the mid-game).
Who knows if this build has staying power at the high end, but for most players it illustrates a lot of the strengths of Zerg in black and white. Major props, sir!
I completely agree with this. As a platinum player (one that knows he needs a lot of work to get better), the macro is just insane and it forces you to really keep on the injects, scouting, creep spread, and knowing how to hold to early/early mid game pressure. I can't argue with the top players that seem to have pointed out some holes in this, but at my level you tend to get a push early 7-9 min and the spines either scare the opponent away or completely stop the push. If the opponent tries to expand you can grab a third and be way ahead. I've had a lot more games where I actually feel like as Zerg I actually am able to reproduce units in a "swarm" like manner and just overrun my opponents.

is the sc2replayed site down? I can't download any of these...

I don't ladder as Zerg, but when I do play a game as Zerg (usually in the custom scene) I actually feel invulnerable doing this build.
This build feels like the ultimate defensive/reactionary Zerg build, but also offers an insane two base timing attack if you want.
I almost always lay a Creep Tumor down as soon as the first two queens pop though. I feel so much more secure with a good creep spread.
Very, very cool.

Watched the replays. Mind blown.
Owned a master P (im diam) while it tying it the first time, doing shitload of mistakes as it is my first game after 2 week being in surgery (im still under morphin, with almost no apm).
Pieces of mind scattered into nucleids.
Watch out for this guy hes a serious badass.

After some games, it fits totally my style and I feel the only weakness of this build (when well done) is some timing push but since they're often one base you scout it . But if you're sure there'll be an expand/or if you know your opponent, this build is just obviously classic at least for me :D
I didn't have the time to try and I actually can't but : how do you guys feel against 6 gate push ~10:00 ? Can it be counter with gling/banelings ?
|
Well remember that the 6 gate has no detection, so if you can abuse that by burrowing banelings in a good spot you can shut down 6 gate pretty hard.

Spanishiwa mentioned on his stream yesterday that he might be going on Day[9] here pretty soon. Very exciting and congratulations! This build is super effective for me (and for you, noting the replays). I really think this guy is the next big Zerg for sure.
Spanishiwa fighting~!

Spanishiwa is going to be the guest in Day9's daily in Wednesday. ^^

Love your style, Spanishiwa. I'm not even a zerg player, but I'm always eager to watch your matches. Glad to see a player who really puts in serious effort to move the metagame forward. I'm hoping your build catches on with the zerg community and in turn, forces terrans and protosses to evolve their games in response.

Spanishiwa is doing a great job helping out all of us Zergs. I have been promoting him wherever I can! Great guy and Great player. My youtube channel features many of his crazy zerg heroics. youtube.com/cricketstarcraft

Cricket has a bunch of replays up on his channel, for those that are too lazy to dl replays . Do check him out!

Damn. I have seen this guy get Ultralisks by 9 minutes game time with this build and the economy to support it.

thanks. one of the most helpful posts i've read

Looks like heavy marauders and Hellions should be a good counter here. Or just a solid suprise banshee rush to kill the queens.
Anyway, I hope more zergs us it to get the queen toned down. This is straight up abuse im my mind.

That's how it's supposed to be done, the money doesn't work out as well if you inject first imo.

The proxy Evo was awesome. No wonder Baz got enraged even if we didn't need to be that BM.
Gogo Spanishiwa!!

What? If Marauder/Hellion or "surprise" Banshees can stop it, how is it abuse? You just don't like fighting Queens?
It's about time a Zerg opening was discovered that has a solid defense against all the random shit Terran can do to harass. It's "weakness" is the absence of map control until the geysers and additional income kicks in. Maybe we'll see more Diamond and below Terrans try to play macro games if this build becomes prevalent on the ladder.

Your builds seem pretty interesting, although i wouldn't go anything but 14-15pool in zvz, since most zergs will <=10pool and possibly drone/spine allin. Even a 14pool can kill a 16hatch.

Is a recording of Spanishiwa's game against Jemag on Metalopolis he played on 12 Weeks with the Pros available anywhere? Both the Youtube and the Justin.tv VoDs cut off in the middle of the game, before jemag does his 5gate attack.
I've seen ForceStrategy/Cricket did a cast of the game, but I wanted to hear MrBitter's reaction/comments. :lol
