As you said yourself it gets very pixelated. And let me tell you why. When bandwidth is the bottleneck H264 doesn't drop frames, the quality drops, which is in your case the pixelation.
VP6, however, keeps the quality and drops frames instead, which may be the cause for the stutter and lag.
As for screen capture programs they both suck because the computer performance drops. I mentioned a program called Dxtory in another thread, which can turn the output to a file or a stream. Dxtory doesn't slow down your computer and is much better than any other program I tried so far. The only problem is the watermark that comes with the trial version. It cost 3600 yen (roughly 45 USD) and is probably worth it if you're into streaming.
By the way: Use FME 2.5 (cmd version) instead. It is much more CPU friendly. Stutter... as in "I play with no lag but the stream lags"? And I forgot to mention that 3.x is waay too slow. Did you use VP6 or H264? I got Dxtory to work without any stutter in game, so now it works no differently than SCFH DS. http://www.justin.tv/scottyyy/b/284972389This is with VP6. Everything on 720p (Dxtory, input size in FME and output size), 1000kbps, 25 fps, "good quality, good framerate" in VP6 settings. Looks awful. What do you mean 3.x is too slow? If you look at that video, there's no frame drops or lag or anything. It's just the quality is bad because I can't get VP6 to ever look good. I was using 3.1 by the way. When I try 2.5, I click start, it tries to start streaming but suddenly says "streaming stopped" (something like that) for no apparent reason. It's like 2.5 can't connect to justin.tv anymore, or I would use it instead of 3.1. 3.2 just crashes whenever I choose stereo mix as my audio source. 3.1 is the only stable of FME for me apparently. You can't see frame drops just by looking at the video. I don't know if you're launching with CMD because you can see how many frames are dropped. I don't use FME with GUI. But yes, there aren't many frame drops to make it look laggy. Try the next "good" quality setting to see if it gets better... although that may cause frame drops as it did for me. Anyway I looked at your previous 2 videos without Dxtory. It doesn' look fluid as it does with Dxtory Is there any way to make Dxtory record your desktop/programs outside of games? edit: http://www.justin.tv/scottyyy/b/284979708Here is "best quality, average framerate". 1500 dropped frames during that recording. It still looks terrible. How is it possible to make VP6 look good? :/
I have no idea. I can't get my stream to look crisp like this guy:
http://www.justin.tv/multiboxing/b/284834954
He made a guide:
http://multiboxing.com/forums/f2/exact-way-stream-fme-jtv-read-1116.html
(I swapped VH Screen Capture Driver out with SCFH DSF and then Dxtory)
Just by looking at his stream I can see that his datarate is set to 10,000kbps!!
This means that VP6 requires a loooot of bandwidth to make it look good. I believe they wrote somewhere in the thread that higher bandwidth = better quality. And we already know that you can't go higher than it is already set to.
As for the desktop recording. I don't think you can since this is only for DirextX/OpenGL applications.

Alright, cheers. So basically I'm limited by my upload speed. Awesome.

It really depends on your hardware what software is best for you.
FMLE on my I7-960 CPU uses around 30-40% of my CPU. This is alot and affects my GTX 470 GPU so FPS is around 60-70 at medium quality.
Same settings with Xsplit makes me CPU run smoothly at 15% usage. Thats over half of what FMLE is using, and FPS is at 120+++.
Keep in mind this is just FMLE with streaming, with FMLE u have to have software for overlays and other stuff as well, while Xsplit is everything in one package with 100% scene control.
Look at my testing here: http://www.justin.tv/avean/videos

I have an i7950 @ 3.60ghz.
Maybe your streaming at a high resolution and a high frame rate. I have the same CPU at the same clock speed and the CPU usage don't go that high I stream at 460p, 25fps

I have a pretty high end computer, and with me Xsplit just uses way less CPU. And a lot easier to configure the sound.
One thing i made that improved my xsplit from doing any choppiness to games was to use SCFH to capture ( add it to scenes like a camera ) and xsplit encodes / processes the sound.
Works great for me.

Which version of FME are you using?
I use FME 2.5 with VP6 codec, 1680x1050 input, 1280x720 output @ 2000 kbps, 30 fps, 1 keyframe frequency.
My CPU is a i7 920 @ 3.8 GHz.
And my CPU usage is at 30-36% while fmecmd.exe using 15% alone.
I have a feeling that it isn't utilizing the CPU correctly.

So Xsplit is still better for those who dont have a very good computer to handle all the necessary functions? Also is there a way to set-up Xsplit to lag the least while maintaining decent quality?

No matter what I do I can't get better than like 12-15 fps when streaming Starcraft 2. I think my Q6600 is insufficient at this point. However, a Core i7 at 4.5 ghz should be able to use xplit streaming without lagging your game! In your OP you said you had a 6870, but then you said you had a 560ti....if you have a 6870 you might be encountering the 300mhz flash bug.

FYI I used ATITools to force the clock speed of my card to get around the ATi flash bug. However, my processor is still the bottleneck.

Then go to your primary mic, go to properties, go to listen, enable listen to this device. That will allow the mic to go through your speakers. In FME select Stereo Mix as the device to record audio from. Easy as pie. Cool, this works. But it's not really usable since I have to listen to myself talk/type/click all the time. It's kinda annoying. If this would only send the audio through my stream then it'd be perfect.
search tl or use google and use virtual audio cable.

try using affinity settings. set sc2 to first 2 cores, and fmle/xsplit to other 2 cores.

I think you might be confusing me with someone else. I've only ever said I have a HD6870. There are others in here asking for help with their stream though so you probably mistook them for me. :p

Sounds more like you're running FMLE straight on as opposed to going the cmd.exe route.
