I'm presenting here my last melee map, (2)Lonesome Marine. It's a two players melee macro map.
Tileset:
It's happening on Agria with just two little texture changes, and I'm kind of proud with the look of the map. I tried to put details where I could without affecting the map layout or overcharging with those details.
About Balance:
- The map is big and may favor Zerg but the third have only one gas and the easy-to-harass layout should balance the map for the three races.
- Chokes and open-spaces are following each other all over the map so every races can find a good spot to fight.
- Differents path allow flanking and run-by for every race.
- Due to these amount of path, I introduce a new map-mechanic.
On the right is standing a Xel'Naga Obelisk. Control it like a Xel'Naga Tower, and 4 force field appears on the green protoss tag. It allows you to protect your fourth easier and focus on your third or go to your fifth. At least until massive units come into play (on this case, maybe a real barrier may be better for balance)
- On the left is an other path blocked by 2 rocks, and there stand a gold base which is bringing the map the assymetrical little thing to make the difference in late game.
