Interesting that FXOBoss said top 2 in rankings will go. Rankings are, I believe, SC leenock gumiho asd then Choya as of 3 weeks ago so I wonder what happened to the top 2.

Very cool news, I'm holding out some hope that if Leenock should fail to make it through Code A again he might get a pool play invite. Would be a pretty strong and popular zerg choice, and we're already full to the brim on KR Terrans.
seems like choya is using his pull to be sent out to foreign tourneys, when there are much better players than he on the team. course there's prolly reasons that i'm unaware of and i admit that this is all just wild and crazy speculation

no, dont forget sc and leenock are young and in GSL. Even if they wanted to go they still have visa problems and such. Mean while MLG is another easy way for Korean player to achieve code A/S without having to play code B qual which has a much higher(or at least equal for last rounds) skill gap than MLG.
Its going to be really embarrassing if TheBest whom the foreign community has bashed and joked about so much, goes to MLG and rips through his bracket. Rain did that but Rain was never bad, just terribly picked upon. Hope theBest is exactly what we make him out to be, though I'd be glad if he'd improved.

Rain did some cheeses when he thought it was his best option. Artosis has night terrors about all-ins, and he bashes on every "all-in nooby", and everyone follows Artosis like a cult, and certain players end up getting hated forever.

Well, theBest made it out of the qualification tournament for Code A, so maybe he is better than people give him credit. Looking forward to seeing him in MLG and how good he really is!

sC & Leenock are still in GSL and they probably had to get stuff settled this week. They won't know if they're in Ro8 until next week, which makes getting things done a little questionable.
Also, Leenock probably has to get approved by his parents, lol. He's only 16. Actually, so is sC.

well your games proved the haters wrong, but unfortunately people are still going to not care because they don't actually watch...
Seriously... TheBest deserves WAY more credit than he gets that it annoys me.
yeah, he plays badly in one series and is immediately the second worst player of all time (behind bitbybit)
it annoys me how much tastosis will hype someone up or tear them down based on a single series, or worse, a single game.
And everyone just falls for it and just goes along which annoys me even more. I admit that I almost fell for it after so much bashing until I saw him play in ICCUP Korean Weekly where he would consistently surprise the organizers by doing as well as he did which included defeating MarineKingPrime once.
I hope TheBest gets to go to an MLG and prove Tastosis wrong like Rain did. It was actually really sweet to hear Artosis on SOTG FINALLY admit that Rain was a sick player after bashing him for so damn long.
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I hoped for it in the Code A LR thread a while ago and it came true. =D
Oh dear this has the potential to be a complete disaster for the foreign community. What if theBest actually makes a deep run through the open bracket in MLG Raleigh? It's one thing to lose to top Koreans like MVP, MMA and MVP, but seeing top foreigners lost to theBest may be too much for us to bear.

He might fly it over a military base by accident :$
Is TheBest banshee control ever going to get old?
It took people quite a while to get over Moon's baneling bombs. After like 2 or 3 games where he succeeded people started to let it go. I suspect he might never hear the end of it if he doesn't have a few games with execellent banshee control.
On August 10 2011 21:20 Resent wrote: I don't see thebest making it past the open bracket personally.
If Tyler and Cruncher can make it out of course TheBest can as well. How likely it is depends a lot on what the bracket looks like, but he'll be one of the best players in the open for sure.
Choya is currently 2nd in the internal rankings, and the best is the next player available for MLG, because of the MLG scheduling leenock, sc gumiho and ASD will not be attending MLG this time around. So instead of sending no one, I am sending the 2nd and 4th players.

It's almost like Alicia and Choya never existed last time =/
Though I do think Choya could do better, and TheBest is actually a decent player, I'll be shocked if they go as deep as Rain last season.
I guess this popular opinion of theBest shows how much power Tastosis have over the minds of innocent GSL watchers. Honestly, while theBest might not be Bomber of MVP, he's probably still better than nearly all of the foreigners in the pools.

Thanks for clarifying things. Definitely agree with the reasoning, I think everyone was just surprised to hear that TheBest would be going. Like other people have said, though, he should actually stand a pretty good chance at making a run through the open bracket, depending on who he faces off against. Will be interesting to see how he does.
HNNNNNGGG each time someone says FXOKorea I am just that bit closer to an aneurysm. Can we retitle the thread to say Choya and TheBest to MLG Raleigh please? T_T
I believe Leenock, sC, Lucky and Nuclear will have their GSL commitments so TheBest and Choya get to go, it's nothing to do with him 'using his pull'.
Eventhough it's cool that FXO is sending koreans to MLG I'm a little bit worried that TheBest who was laughed at a lot will roflstomp most of what the foreigners have to offer :/
TheBest is severely underrated and underestimated by the TL community - just like Rain was prior to the last MLG - so I'm not worried about his chances.

I could be wrong, but I believe I remember hearing (from Tastosis during a cast? if I'm not wrong) that initially Choya was just another player, but the guy that was coaching / managing fOu left, so Choya took over those responsibilities. I don't really see why it's surprising, anyways -- he's one of the more visible fOu players, he's been in that GSL booth talking to himself for quite a long time.
I don't think a lot of people really understand the bashing which comes from artosis during the gsl. EVERY player who makes it into the GSL is unbelievably good. These players are held to a much higher standard than normal players because they've made it into such a difficult event. When Artosis bashes the best he's not saying that he is better than the best, he is saying that the best's banshee control is really subpar compared to how good of a player he is.
With that being said, I think the best will do well, but I think his results will not be too much better than Choya's from last MLG.

TheBest, oh lol. No Leenock or sC, the players probably MOST people want to see, but some of what are referred to as the "cheesy" players. If Wolf is right, I think we'll be in for an awesome surprise.

People still hating on TheBest when hes likely to destroy the open bracket, and every foreigner in the pool he gets placed. Rain was seen in basically the same way when he was in Korea, and he took top 6 over the best foreigners by playing strong macro games. Choya also nearly made pool play, and a lot of people aren't fond of him.
TheBest is so underrated, getting so much shit from GSL watchers, you can easily tell he is nervous(even Wolf says so), he improved alot looking at his match vs Yoda.
If he isn't gonna get nervous too much, he is gonna get far in this MLG, i can already imagine his huge grin .

Didn't you say there was going to be an internal competition and the best player would go to foreign tournaments? Leenock and SC both lost to Choya and TheBest? Did you guys play 2vs2 for the lulz?
I hope both Choya and theBest do well @MLG, but I am disappointed that nor SC nor Leenock showed up .
After a long discussion with the guys, we decided that instead of sending anyone to Raleigh, we will send 3 of the FXO guys in KR to Florida.
The logistics, just werent on our side for the Raleigh event. 1) Its in the middle of no where so flights are scarce and hard to come by from aboard at a reasonable price. and 2) We could not get any management to the event to help out with the Korean players.
Together we decided that 3 players will go together with myself or unstable to Florida, so that it is easier to manage. As some of you may know, the players in Korea do not speak much english, so we want to make them as comfortable as possible.

Heres my math...
Flight seoul - Raleigh economy 2500 USD per person MLG prize first place is $5000
Kinda looks dumb. The exposure is good, but it doesn't justify such a large investment... I can understand why not many europeans make the trek.

Percentage of winning MLG from open bracket in current climate around 5%
so, 2 players flights = 5k + hotel = ~300-400 + expendature..
No player will go solo because of the logistcal side with language and what not...
So we will send 3 to the next event instead of 2. Hopefully thebest will be there to slap the haters with a wet fish.
In response to FXopen talking about money. Don't you get money when your players get on TV? I thought all players wear shirts that have logos all over them. Prize money alone isn't worth flying people of course, sponsors are important when it comes to pro gaming.

I hope TheBest places highly and his nerves don't get too him. He's bound to be nervous but I want to see some of that very good macro play he is rumored to have in practice. ;;
I can see the foreigners hunker down, ready and waiting for a possible all-in, especially on some specific maps.
And TheBest just might be counting on that, and doing a macro game to mess us all up.
*EDIT Another thing I want to see is Choya's trademark self-singing and talking to himself. But at the last time I saw him(not at GSL), he was tight-lipped. Come on Choya I wanna see more of your trademark
