Anyway, my fave is FF12.
>_> Please just no. NO. Hell No. Please play FF1, FF6, and FF8. 12 was just ugh.

This is not a fact. All FF are broken in one way or another (I have played them all except for FF13 and FF11, including Tactics and some spin offs).
lol, the hates toward FF8's draw system never fail to amuse me
Yeah I don't get the hate either. Personally 8 was my favorite. I loved the draw system and junctioning system. I put all the GFs on 3 people and got them all 9999 HP and maxed out Attack, was good times. Also, angel wings limit break + only castable spell of meteor = OP as hell.
Am i the only one finding Cloud Saves for FFVII sort of hilarious?
Also, thanks to the guy suggesting playing the PS version by emulator - my pcs drive is apparently way more capable at working through the horrid scratching my CDs have. No issue starting it at all, while i've literally spent half a day resetting the PS2 to get it working originally.
i'll still probably buy this new version... just to get it in english. Unless its priced outrageously. I feel l'd spend 30€ tops.
I'm with the FFVIII draw system haters. It was just so pointlessly boring to grind the spells out. Game as a whole was pretty funky. Weapon upgrades pretty hard to get when you don't know what you're doing, Battlerank system for your payment actually punishes spending an age in battles drawing spells... Still liked it. I'm weak. xD

I don't understand why people like 8 at all and typically the same people hate on Fallout 3.
FF8 is the fallout3 of the final fantasy series.
terrible combat, super easy, cliche'd storyline with little depth. ect.
Damn, I was hoping for a graphics upgrade.. it'll open itself up to a lot more players.
I replayed it (multiple runs) a few years ago, was extremely addictive. If you want an additional challenge, run from all fights that you can to keep your level as low as possible. No side quests either. It's extremely difficult! IIRC, I completed at lvl 39 haha. Jumped from 36 to 39 at the second last bossfight (Jenova Synthesis).

Meh. Really easily overcome if you just stack materia. Put a few level 5 +hp materia and you're golden.

Yuffie did that because of her ultima weapon it scaled with enemy level or HP or something similar, I had yuffie with some kind of counter 16x setup and 1 hit sephiroth it kind of ruined the final fight for me =[

What do people like about it?
Pretty much same as my opinion. Opinions will always be opinions though!
Actually, the one saving grace of FF8 was Laguna. Holy shit he was a badass and so was his battle-soundtrack:
The best executed boss fight in any FF is in FF7 too.
jenova life. Possibly the perfect boss fight in terms of atmosphere. + Show Spoiler +
From the moment you see Aeris in the city of the ancients praying until the end of the boss fight, the musical score, the imagery and the agony of having to fight a boss immediately after a character is murdered is extremely well done. Especially when, there is no jerk out of the scene. you feel like you are just inside the scene, no battle start sound, no new music, no awkward transition, just the saddest song for any FF7 fan ever playing throughout. Every attack and spell sound haunts you as it stands out completely from the scene. It's at this point in the game where the player stops fearing sephiroth but instead hates him completely. The boss fight solidifies this feeling and the entire tone of the game changes.

I get chills everytime I do that fight. It's like time stands still while you fight.

Agreed. That was just one of those surreal moments in gaming... Amazing juxtaposition of music, sound, silence and story. I felt so many different emotions.
Last week, after 7 years of playing nothing else than BW, I've been playing FF7 Crisis core. I'm halfway through the game, and this is announced ? Pure nerdgasm.

No farming, no side quests at all. You can't even gain enough AP to level up the materia, or even buy more than 2 materia.
Go try it. It's really challenging. The boss that I got stuck at was the fire/ice dragon which casts earthquake upon death. Restarted countless times because the boss kept hitting the one that wasn't immune.. and I kept getting 1/2 shotted.
Final Fantasy 7 is without a doubt the best one of the series. Best story, best music and best battle mechanics. I'd recommend playing this in emulator since pc versions music just didn't sound the same at all. U can also enhance graphics with the emulator.
