The games I want to play on the Switch are the ones from the 3DS e.g. Pokemon, Etrian, Bravely, Layton, other Atlus games. Not sure if all of them are feasible. The $40 price point is part of the attraction of some 3DS games.

You won't be sorry I'm blown away at how many great games are available already, and more that have been announced for later in 2019 I did buy the Switch and so far so good xD I read a lot of complains about the size of the grip etc but at leasst to me it seems amazing. Obviously only played a few hours of it but I am having a blast with SMO so far. On March 04 2019 23:27 byte-Curious wrote: I'd wait a while, to be honest. For the price of the switch with two AAA games, you can get the PS4 Slim with ten AAA games. I just bought mine with one controller, Bloodborne GOTY, Dark Souls 3 GOTY, Dark Souls 2: Scholar and Dark Souls Remastered, all for 280 €. Not in Portugal you cant….PS4 games around here sell between 55 and 70 € a piece. The PS4 slim alone goes for € 299.99. So €30 less than the switch with no games attached. But even if I ordered outside and paid the shipping costs etc, the PS has nothing that appeals me that I cant get on the PC or the switch. This will be my first console after the NES that I had as a kid, since Im a PC guy all the way. However, Nintendo will always have this nostalgia (and own IP factor that will pull me in from time to time). I think the only exception to this will be the NHL games that I understand are not available on the Switch...oh well, lets hope in a few years that changes. Thank you all for the replies and feedback, much appreciated!

They're Pokemon so they're bound to sell well, but the cost of buying both versions may prove too expensive for some people who usually buy both handheld versions.

Well, Let's Go sold over 10m despite being full price for what is effectively a fancy gen 1 remake and from sitting around the Pokemon subreddit, I *know* tons of people have passed it over while waiting for S&S.

Let's Go was targeted to a different demographic that may not buy the mainline games. I passed it over while somebody I know who has never played any of the mainline games bought it. I'm sure sales of Pokemon Sword/Shield will be fine. Those games are definitely worth $60 to me. The number of people who buy bought versions may take a hit. I do wonder how big a part of the market that is.

How long last the battery if I play in handheld mode? How long last the battery if I play via TV mode?

I really wish they'd just get rid of some of cruft that's involved in the series split. It's awesome to have the 2 games that are slightly different, but all the trade evolution mechanics and game exclusive 'mons just feel so outdated now. Like it made sense back in the GB days in the sense that you had to know someone to trade with and physically be there with them, but online connectivity makes it feel so dumb. --- In terms of battery, if you're in TV mode... forever? You probably have the dock plugged in so it charges while you play. But in terms of handheld I think you can get like 2-3 or so hours, but you can just buy a USB battery charger which can get you a lot of charge with just a small amount of extra space taken up. There's nothing to be worried about in terms of battery with the Switch because a USB battery will basically solve any potential problem.

I played Smash and Mega Man for 6 straight hours handheld (while flying) from a full charge to 5% battery, fwiw.

So I think I will buy switch. it's worth getting both. Ps4 has some of the best games in Gen, switch as well. But the two offers very different kind of game. You don't want to miss out last of us 2, god of war, persona 5, red dead redemption 2, horizon zero dawn and brunch of others like dream, Detroit etc More so if you don't have a gaming PC As a gamer, it is a no brainer (yup it rhythms)
