There is no team in the world that has a better image than TL. Team Liquid and teamliquid.net are also so intertwined that being mentioned around one is the same as being mentioned around the other. Something I, as an imaginary/hypothetical sponsor would say is more worth than a couple of recent MLG wins.

People need to stop having such a short term memory when it comes to player records. These sponsorship contracts extend longer than the 1 week memory of the masses. It's about how you will be represented over the course of that contract. Most sponsors think about how well their product will be marketed by supporting a team. Better results from the team doesn't mean that product will get marketed. It's about how much attention. With Twitch sponsoring TL, that means that TL events, like TL attack and the TSL will be streamed on their platform. In addition to that, TL is still the leading news site for SC2. Even though TL keeps the team and the site separate, by sponsoring the team, you still get attention from the TL community. Edit: Also EG has A LOT of sponsors right now. If you want to stand out better, you pick up a team that is probably more well known with less sponsors.

TL brings a lot of viewers to Twitch, so Twitch is giving them money. My guess? This is a growing trend, as the competition between streaming services is heating up.

Yep, it's probably the reason why TeamLiquid will not feature any tournament streams that aren't on Twitch. RedBullLAN they refused to link to RedBull's site, they just linked to the Twitch stream which only had 1 stream instead of 7. At MLG, they link to their own site instead of MLG, etc.
