During his recent code A debut up against BBoongBbongPRIME - GGanDoL was an underground hit around the foreign scene - despite going down 1-2 after some rough-and-tumble matches with B4, GGanDoL showed that there was great potential, coming back from the brink of defeat in game 1, and throwing in some fantastic cheese in game 3 to try and secure the set. I got an interview with my teammate GGanDoL the "Wizard Protoss" to ask him how he felt about the matches.
+ Show Spoiler +
- Overall how do you feel about your Code A matches?
Well, I was very nervous from the start, I felt more nervous when I entered the booth.
- During game 1 you looked like you were in trouble, but you came back fighting hard - were you surprised Bboongbbong had no Infestors?
I wasnt surprised at all. When I scouted with my observer, there weren't a lot of workers so if i defended well, I knew I had this game, and he was producing broodlords, not infestors and it was only a few so I knew I had this game
- Were nerves an issue? And if so, how did you overcome them to win the game?
I was very nervous, but I told to myself that I will do my best regardless of the result of the game. Maps were also not so bad for Protoss, so I thought I could make it.
- In game 2 the Zergling run-by got inside your main - did you change your plans after that happened?
My plans changed a lot, so I tried to be greedy, but unfortunately it failed. T_T
- In game 3 you were very brave and went for a proxy 2gate on Antiga Shipyard - did you practice this or was it just a risk build?
The day before the match, I was talking with my teammate Sickness about this build, but never tried it.
- You had a fortunate route getting in to Code A, by receiving BYEs until the final match against SlayersCella. Is there anything you want to tell the people who thought that it was a fluke and that you wouldn't win a single match?
The player who I played was previous code S player. I knew it would be hard for me. But my thoughts changed a lot when many people helped me practice. Also diss[disrespecting me] means another way of attention, so its not so bad after all. Please watch me till I gain my code A slot back!
- What do you think of the support that was given to you during your games by your teammates and fans online?
Thank you guys a lot for your support and care. Now I’m done with my school problems
so please give me unconditional support!
- People on the international Starcraft forums Teamliquid and Reddit were calling you "Gandalf" the wizard Protoss, what do you think of this nickname?
I really appreciate my nickname and I really like it. Now I want to be acknowledged not just by luck but also my skill. so I will work hard and when I comeback I guarantee I will stay in better shape.
- What’s your practice regimen like? Who did you practice with?
My zerg teammates helped a lot, special thanks to FXOJKS, and wulongstorm. wulongstorm helped me a lot like giving me replays etc. also my ur[local clan] family members helped
- Please tell us what you feel to be the strength and weakness of the Protoss race in the current meta-game?
From my perspective, protoss gets better in late games. I think it depends how you defend pressures early-mid situation. I don’t really think protoss is too strong.
- Do you feel your strength is in your play, and do you have a favourite matchup, and a least favourite matchup?
I always plan to play safe, long macro oriented games. because even though I may lose I want to plan out something. I dont want to lose doing nothing. I like playing against Zerg. defending Zerg pressures is fun. But my least confident matchup is against Protoss. There are a lot of build orders and counter build orders. and I feel like I chose the wrong one.
- Lastly do you have anything else to your fans and any of your future plans with your career and dtG? Will you be back for Code A next season?
I'll practice and prepare a lot till I`m in my best shape. I am now done with my conflicts in school and now I cleared my mind to be a professional gamer. In team dtG, there are a lot of good players so you'll see them in gsl very soon. And also I'll prepare a lot so I can get myself back to code a slot. So please watch me and give me unconditional support :D
