The most impressive part of MVPs play today was his incredibly confident decisions. That statement he made about being a winner really showed in the series. Looking at partings army in game 1, decisively pulling his SCVs and doing the all in instead of taking a third was basically the definition of eehan timing. That had probably a 30 second window of working, and possibly couldnt have worked if parting was in proper position..yet MVP made it happen..holy crap
The second was the doom drop timing and decision even after he saw the medivacs coming in..he said this is happening. juked out and came back in at the PERFECT angle and saved every medivac to get everything out and won the game. Superb decision making. The builds he chose were perfect, the decisions flawless. Not the macro games everyone wanted but man it showed me that while he may not be the very best micro (MKP) or stylistic player (MKP lol)..he just is a champion and thats that. I don't see squirtle winning a final vs MVP.
Just gonna say it if he wins this hes a bonjwa..a year + of consistent high results even when hes in BAD HEALTH...wow.

The past month they've been crying Toss OP because all the best PvTers destroyed the Terrans. They then cried balance and it's "unfair" that Blizzard only gave Terran 6 months of dominance before balancing all races together.
Consequently, in that time of their dominance, any Protoss that would beat them (MC) would get labeled all innish, timing attacker, no skill etc. Yet when their "king" makes his way to the semi-final cheesing a Toss for 3 games, then cheesing again to make it to the finals, the "better player won".
Or wait, it's "perfectly countered greedy builds". Last time I checked when MC 2 base timing attacked MVP at MLG who went for 3 cc's and 2 engi bay before stim everyone hated on MC for "all inning".
I know double standard doesn't exist in this forum due to extreme bias, but at least be consistent lol. Everyone hates on a PvP finals, but do tell me MVP games vs Naniwa and Parting were better than a generic PvP? Are you blind kid? If there is any player in SC2 who has proved himself in ANY type of game, it's mvp. And yes, he cheeses protoss currently. He wins. What other terrans, playing standard late games, are beating protoss? Obviously it's the only way to win the MU currently. But i guess you're the type of person to ignore a player's entire history because of two series. That's really swell of you Calling me a kid doesn't make your arguments any credible. Good luck in TL. MVP has only proven himself in TvT and TvZ. Much like any other top tier players who have 2 good matchups and 1 bad one. My argument was that terrans always QQ when their player get 2 base busted by Toss but when MVP does it they hail him as "punishing greedy openings". Game 1, SCV train, Game 2, 1-1-1, Game 3 he lost standard play, Game 4 was a risky doom drop that paid off. Against Naniwa, all all ins. Just because this season Protoss won macro games off Terran doesn't justify cheese while degrading others. All of you are taking Blizzard's statement on TvP out of context. TvZ is the same, try not to harass a zerg for 15 min and see how it is late game. Terrans NEED to do damage or some form of harass to zerg early game, they all know that, but you don't see them bit by biting every game. Look at the state of ZvP-that-is-not-MC. Max roach rush seems unstoppable but you don't see Toss cheesing their way out of it. I agree MVP has to do what he has to do to win. What I don't agree is fanboys like you bashing other players for doing the same but hailing MVP for doing it. But like I said, there are no double standards in TL, "kid". Calling me a fanboy doesn't "make your arguments any credible." Good grammar, and good luck in TL. What other player did i bash? I'm pretty sure that you actually bashed mvp, not anything near the other way around. All I pointed out is that saying that mvp is a cheeser, who, when he wins, is not the "better player," is ridiculous. MVP is the most accomplished player in the game. Calling him a cheeser without skill is unbelievably misguided. How ironic. Calling him a kid as if you have some wisdom in your statements doesn't make your arguments valid. Cheese is cheese. With his cheese play against naniwa it lost him alot of standard fans (fanboys will be fanboys). Saying someone outplayed or was the better player in a matchup consisting of mainly cheese is ignorant. The fact is you can never tell if he was the better or worse player. Cheese eliminated our chance to see that Cheese is smart is certain situations, I've never understood the mentality that just because a player used a couple cheesy builds to win means the better player lost or we can't know who is the better player. He won therefore he is the better player, end of fucking story. He out smarted/out planned his opponent. All cheese can be countered, Naniwa and Parting didn't react to it and lost therefore they are not the better player*.
Edit* Better player that day, you'd be a fool to judge overall skill on one bo5... just thought I'd add this in case some one misinterpreted it.

This. MVP did what he had to do to win, just the fact that he went with cheesy, risky builds in such an important match means he weighed his strategies very well. And he played amazing vs. PartinG, I'm a terran player and not an MVP fanboy but wow he almost converted me in that series. So excited to see him vs Squirtle !!!
|
Oh and let me add, I will be rooting for Squirtle as it looks like it his protoss' time to win a GSL, but I hope the series goes the full 7 games =)
|
Squirtles gsl run is far more impressive than nesteas
|
Man, if I had to endure an entire season of Terran whining over not being the most represented race in GSL for the first time in their coddled existence only to be denied a Protoss champion again, I will not be happy.

Please leave these forums. Disgusting , only word i have to say about you protoss whiners. Javla protoss!

Sad to see Parting go today but not surprised. He's always looked vulnerable in the early game, and after MVP/Naniwa it seemed likely MVP was going to exploit that weakness to the max.
Squirtle looked dominant in ways that are rarely seen. He deflected the one moment when he looked truly vulnerable and at all other times he was completely in control of proceedings.
MVP vs Squirtle will be interesting. MVP surely knows the winning tactics that he employed against Naniwa and Parting won't be nearly as effective against Squirtle, and may go for longer games as a result. But then again he has to either kill before, or be completely ready for, the ultra-strong 2-base timings that will surely be coming his way.
|
lol squirtle is just didn't losing, not even close to lost a game like 32-3 or something for the last month. kid is sick not surprised he's top 1 elo for now
|
wow impressive run Squirtle
|
Wow, Squirtle is so impressive. Never thought he will be in GSL Final.

It always seem to me that MVP does bad vs mediocre Protosses but beats very top Protosses.

He has strong standard play and rarely plays greedy like other Protoss. He also has some sick 2 base timings that he incorporates in his play often. Should prove to be a good finals. The thing with Squirtle is, that he just never looks vulnerable. Regardless of map, matchup, opponent etc, he always looks comfortable. His play itself is nothing fancy, nothing extravagant, just straightup solid and smart... and he pretty much never loses. Watching PartinG play I'm always nervous that he'll die to certain timings etc before he gets into his 100% winrate comfort zone, whereas with Squirtle I never feel the same 100% chance of victory as PartinG has, but instead he pretty much always looks like he has a >80% chance. Just my thoughts on it.
I disagree. Not enough terrans have tried to attacked squirtle in the early midgame but rather have to defend against them. I think mvp will exploit this and win 4-2. Squirtles macro play actually also looks quite weak
|
MVP still too strong... imagine him with fixed wrists
|
i got my liquibets right. Mvp so consistent 3 gsl titles, 2 finals, 2 semi finals.
|
Man, if Artosis picks Squirtle to win this season i ll be so mad. His kiss of death already destroyed Parting.
My mind says MVP will win, my heart says Squirtle.
|
Squirtle will be much tougher for MVP than Parting. Parting's defensive macro style means he kicks into gears later on. MVP could still kill him early. Squirtle on the other hand is cheesy and all-inny as hell. He'll probably 1-base or 2-base with really strong timings and a greedy or unprepared MVP would be crushed.
|
Was really expecting Parting to come out over MVP and Hero to win over Squirtle. Either way I'm glad to see MVP play in another GSL final and I'm hoping he can win again. Glad that MVP is still able to get to another GSL finals even with the injuries that he has had to his wrist.
