You have led your team to ro8 by scoring four kills
I can’t believe it. I thought I would be done after two kills or so but after I came back from a disadvantageous position in the game against Happy, it felt like things were going right for me today. At that moment, I felt that I could finish the match.
How did you feel at the beginning?
I just thought to myself that I shouldn’t lose so helplessly like last time. I was rather worried but luckily, I took the first game easily and got on a roll.
Your last opponent was Nestea, were you confident?
I had confidence. However, I’ve lost to Nestea often in practice and I don’t really trust my ZvZ so I was also a bit doubtful. Killing several drones with the lucky baneling harass early on helped a lot. Today really was my day.
Your most difficult game today?
I chose to all-in against Happy but got repelled. However, I think he relaxed a bit too much so I got a bit lucky there.
You lost your debut game against TSL. Weren’t you stressed by that?
I despaired after losing my debut game. I was stressed in practice after that game and kept losing on ladder not practising a lot. However, I’m glad to have won an official game today and made myself slightly better known.
There is talk that you had Nestea’s recommendation when you joined Fnatic.
Nestea recommended me as a potential Zerg player when Fnatic was recruiting. While I was still playing Starcraft 1 in Samsung Khan, I wanted to switch over to Starcraft 2. I expressed this sentiment to my team and the coach introduced me to the manager of Fnatic. The people who knew me were friends with the Fnatic manager and recommended me and thanks to that, I was able to enter the team despite being a low level player.
Lately, Kespa players are playing both games concurrently. How do you feel about that?
I was playing Starcraft 2 back in Samsung Khan as well. I am a little bit jealous (laugh). However, I left the team of my own accord so it’s okay. I think I’m doing fine now.
Your team faces Prime in ro8, the reigning champion of GSTL. How do you expect that will go?
As long as we manage to snipe Marineking and Creator, we can win.
Who do you want to face between the two?
I want to face Marineking. I think my style is better suited for him rather than Creator. He’s a Terran and his style is very well known so it’s easier for me.
What kind of player do you want to be in the future?
First of all, I want to win a championship in the GSL or a major foreign tournament within a year. Also, there are so many fans who don’t know about me. I want to become a famous player. No one knows who I am. I once won four games in Proleague in my Starcraft 1 days, so I’m disappointed (laugh). Speaking of four wins, that’s what I got today.
You will be in the MLG open bracket tomorrow
I just want to make it to pool play. I want some experience in a major tournament. I want to play in front of lots of people.
Anything to add?
I want to thank my team’s sponsors: RaidCall, Eizo, SteelSeries, DX Racer. Also, I want to thank Coach Oh, Sang Taek, Manager Kim, Sung Hwan, Nestea and Oz who helped me switch to Starcraft 2.
I promise to not become arrogant and do even better. Please keep watching me.
