Interesting, I haven't enjoyed a FF game since 10 though..
is it going to be on PC? No. On June 13 2013 06:29 ragingfungus wrote: Debating buying a ps3 just for this. Been waiting so long. It will be on the PS4 and Xbox One. You sure ??
Both final fantasy 13's were on the xbox, dunno why it's such a big deal. They've made them for every major company (nintendo, sony, microsoft).

Final Fantasy 7, 9, 10... miss those days. Wasn't a fan of FF8, but even that was still better than the garbage that has been produced since 10.
EDIT: I just realized I had no idea FF14 was even released. Was it any good?

I''m seeing this attitude pop up a bit here lately and its not one I really understand. My inner FF fan has a rock-hard boner just thinking about this game. I feel like this game might revitalize the series in a really big way. For me, FF is more about how epic the story and music are as opposed to rigid adherence to a strict formula for game-play. In the end its really pretty simple for me: a good story, told well, and with great music and presentation = me likey very much This is pretty much how I feel; JRPGs to me haven't been predominantly about this turn based or ATB model, it's been about story, music, and a huge world full of life. That is where FF has been failing lately. If those elements are taken care of, I'll be all over them again.
Frankly, I've always thought that a solid RPG with devil may cry or god of war styled combat would be near perfection in gaming given my taste. Hopefully, FFXV becomes exactly that.

It was an MMO of such shitty caliber they literally had to "unrelease" it. They scrapped 90% of the game, fired just about the entire division that made it and started over. The re-release is this year.

What. I liked 12 and 10-2. 10-2 had a cool side element with the gun things with the same gameplay and extending the story of 10. Plus, dress spheres were awesome. 12 had a really awesome gambit system which I think everyone enjoyed, even though the story was a bit too all over the place (also Vaan was a bad main character for the gamer teen generation, a bit too young and feminine [like biebs])
I wish this was on the PS3 even though it would be a lot shittier :/ I'm going to buy the PS3 in the near future and I hate that I've never played 13 yet because I've never owned a console :\ going to be hard to not buy the next gen for like 4-5 years sigh.

I think PS4 is backwards compatible with PS3 games, dont buy the PS3 and save up that little extra (ok, maybe double what it costs) for the PS4, well worth it imo.

It's usually worth it after the first price cut/'Lite' version but imo release prices of most new gen consoles are just straight up gouging unless you have a burning desire to play as soon as they come out.

its not, all games have to be livestreamed to your console.
That being said, it would be pretty silly to buy a PS3 when you can buy a PS4 for a couple hundred more (forgoing a few games perhaps) and enjoy the next gen of games. There is probably only around 5-10 games truly worth playing on PS3 that are exclusive, that you can't play on PC.

It was a pretty epic fail at beginning but it got quite a bit better over time and by after a year or so it was actually competent.
The relaunch beta is getting good review from people who played initial release and those hated it though, so I'm looking forward to it.

12 was absolutely awful imo. Garbage story, even worse gameplay. The gameplay was the same from the start of the game to the final boss. It never changed. Definition of just feeling overly repetitive. You never felt rewarded for leveling either.
10-2 was not remotely as epic as a FF game should be. Compare 10-2 to 6,7,8,9,10 storylines and it's really just a girl going after love and playing dressup. The game was decently fun admittedly. But the plot sucked. Felt like a super long sidequest to me.

400 dollars for the hardware inside the ps4 is not price gouging. And actually 99% of the time on release it's very cost effective for consumers and loses the company money.
On topic: 13 was the most repetitive brain dead shit i've ever played. You literally spam A. If you're fighting a boss you use a libra scope first and then spam A. You might have to change paradigms every three minutes or something crazy if you fuck up but you can literally tape the A button down and beat the entire game.

That's about as dumb as playing a game on an easier difficulty level than is available and then complaining about the lack of challenge.

FF10-2 was a total piece of shit, I've pretty much never felt that ripped off after spending my money on something, only good thing was the magical transforming girls.
I didn't fall in love with FF12 either but it wasn't a bad game overall, just wasn't the kind of FF game I wanted, I was quite mindfucked when I picked it up after not reading about it much and went in first combat.
Also having watched all the FF13-3 trailers and all the versus trailers, god damn FF13-3 looks awful in comparison to versus.

One of those 25475230952692809 reasons was the battle system. If I wanted to only use two buttons I'd plug my NES in.

And why would I do that when I can just spam A? Why would I manually chose the best attacks if the game does it for me automatically? And by the way Me scrolling down and selecting them manually is still only two buttons, good point though.
I mean seriously. Why would I scroll down and select fire four times when I can hit autobattle once and it automatically does fire four times? The flaw is in that the game does what's best for you automatically with no thought involved. That's a fucking terrible, shitty, horrible combat system. I don't understand how you can defend a combat system that literally requires 0 thought or manual input.
