Barely interacting with the community for several weeks and then saying "I don't enjoy this game anymore so I don't think I will keep playing" isn't a "tantrum". No idea how you managed to interpret it that way. And you can dislike him all you want, saying that not a lot of people will miss him isn't even remotely true. Aside from Idra and Stephano (and possibly one or two others), he has one of the biggest fanbases amoung foreign players in the history of the game. Besides, your accusation doesn't even make any sense; why would he stop playing for a month (confirmed by his in-game history) right before a 100,000 dollar tournament just to get attention? Where are you getting this stuff from?

You make THIS post in the pause announcement thread of a player and then blame HIM on seeking attention? Don' you see the irony?

In fact, it feels like this was not a decision that came easily to him, and it's why he's leaving a small door open for coming back eventually - if things feel better for him. That's way more than he would have said if he was an attention seeking drama queen. If he does come back, I think it's going to be because he onced loved this game and wants to give it another shot before giving up completely.

You do what you need to win. Lets start from begining. Blizzard fracked up the basics with SC2 but that is a huge topic so I will just focus on units. Sentry/Colossi and MMM both are crazy powerful so Zerg came with game breaking Broodlord/Infestor that was accused of destroying WoL. Then Blizzard to fix this in HotS nerfed Infestors to the ground and gave hard counters to Broodlords and gave zerg Swarm Hosts instead. But zerg now has no proper lategame and uses the slowest and most boring unit in SC2 as late game army before doing huge tech switches with massive larva saving (which is also a fucked up design for SC2 but is needed for current state of the game) to finish the game. And this problem was created because Blizzard does not want to fix the basics, and keeps on piling and piling stupid modifications that don't do anything good for the game.

Piling on stupid modifications would imply that that the game just keeps getting worse, which isn't true. Gameplay-wise, Swarm Hosts are a huge issue, PvP is random, and so is early game TvP to some extent. Aside from that, the game is better than ever in almost every match-up. All Terran matchups are more entertaining and varied than in WoL, and the same goes for ZvZ. And as boring as Swarm Hosts can be, they still don't show up often enough to make PvZ as frustrating to watch as the BL + Infestor-filled lategame PvZ in WoL. Fixing Swarm Hosts is important, but aside from that, PvZ has much more room for variation and different compositions and strategies than in WoL. I mean, we have useful Hydras and viable Stargate play! How cool is that? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to claim that the game is perfect and that there aren't some (massive) problems that Blizzard should have fixed months ago, but these one-sided "omg dis game sux blizz dont care liek if you cry evrytiem"-posts are getting really old. No offence. Also, just as a sidenote: BL + Infestor wasn't game-breaking from the beginning; the composition didn't become a huge problem until after the Queen buff in May 2012. In 2011, ling + bling + muta vs Terran was the standard, as far as I can remember.

It felt like things were slowing down, but this feels like the last bit... Not that SC2 is dead, but the era of foreigners seriously competing, the era of all the old greats. Bummer...

Yeah, Scarlett talked about possibly retiring sometime during 2014. Bummer indeed.

For the (hopefully) last time, she is leaving for Korea in a few days to stay several months at least, she is basically going to put her face to the grind over in Korea. That does not seem very retirementesque to me.

Really hoped he would push on for another exciting year but guess all the unwanted drama really took it's toll also :-( hmm, can't really think of any other EU/NA-player that I like to watch now. Or that are actually able of beating Koreans, over and over... Think this will be the end for me as well. Nani - the very best foreigner overall in SC2 ! Creds!

She DID mention a couple of months ago that she was thinking of retiring though, good to hear she seems to have changed her mind.
