The following is regarding the In-Game UI. NOT the updates to Bnet.
I will tldr first and state my reasoning/experience after, feedback is appreciated! :D
I would have really liked to see an updated UI, in game, for LOTV. Basically, the UI has remained unchanged since SC1. Minor tweaks aside, it takes up the same amount of real estate on the screen, and has very similar functionality.
Compared with the Heroes UI (for example), there is far less screen available to play on in LOTV.
We have seen excellent UI changes from GameHeart for Observing, but this has not translated into improved UI for players. And, I feel like there has been zero discussion by Blizzard regarding this topic (I may be wrong).
What do you think? Should Blizzard update the Gameplay UI? What changes would you like to see?
I know Blizzard has stated that they are willing to make big changes to LOTV after beta, I hope this is one of them.
That was a long tldr, sorry.
Now for my personal thoughts, if you care:
Starcraft is my favorite game of all time. I love it. To my great pride I even made it into Platinum. However, I do not have a lot of time to play. So when the LOTV beta began, I played Heroes as a placeholder game until LOTV was released.
I didn't want to invest more time into Swarm, and I don't play enough to be valuable in a Beta.
One of the first things I noticed after returning to LOTV is the weird feeling of not being able to use the bottom 3rd/4th of the screen. It's not game breaking or anything, and I am loving LOTV, but it made me feel like something better could be done.
For example, aside from clicking on the minimap occasionally, I do not click in the UI at all (because I am so pro like that So even if Blizzard did want to leave the UI in its present form perhaps we could:
Have a transparent, click-through, UI. (Aside from the Minimap)
That is my minimal change idea. I am sure that you can do much better (I am looking at you Gameheart).
Thoughts?
