You and many others in this thread must not understand what I was saying, I said SPEAK as in talking, his is very easy to understand. I'm not a fucking idiot I know most of the world knows English however very few can SPEAK it so well so you can understand them. I was asking if he uses English to TALK ever in Poland since I have never been there I have no clue how often english is used there. I know french but when I speak it I get laughed at because I sound like an idiot. Anyways many of you are idiots.

Actually not many Canadians are fluently bilingual. It's a much smaller percentage than you might think, as while French is mandatory up to a certain grade, core French is useless and only a few people actually take French Immersion. Even a smaller percentage can actually speak French well and with proper grammar and intonation.

Maybe because they spell Canadian wrong and use wildly inconsistent capitalization? Or because they are from France and don't realize many people in Canada speak French fluently?
Erm, please don't start with the spelling. Most Americans can't spell better than foreigners. If you don't believe me, then just look around this forum for people from the US using plurals (or should I say plural's?). So don't bitch on someone from France who only TYPOed.

It's easy to learn how to speak English because most movies and tv-shows, cartoons and whatnot are in English. So all you have to do is watch and practice, and you learn pronunciation rather easily. Then comes grammar, then writing/spelling, which is harder because you can't play it "by ear" all the time. I know I've learned English from watching Cartoon Network like 14-15 years ago. School just helped with grammar/vocabulary. And actually, I'm sure that over 50% of teenagers - middle-aged people in Romania can speak English good enough so you can understand it (even with faulty grammar and so on). I'm sure it's pretty much the same in other countries too. However, your comment made you look very ignorant, and that's why people bitched at you. Don't go "many of you are idiots" just because you didn't make yourself clear. I thought of the exact same thing when I read your first post.
Also, if people laugh at you because your French is less than perfect, they're the ignorant ones. I don't see why that would bother you.

Testie said he can't understand French at all. I wonder what it's like living in a country with more than one national language. I'd love to be able to learn French easily.

how does my original post make me look ignorant.... heres what I said word from word
'wow he speaks English so well..... how does he speak it so damn well when he lives in Poland? Do they ever speak English there?'
I ask two questions, both are very justifiable questions since in Poland English is not the national language. I have never been to Poland so I asked if they ever speak English there. Notice I said speak not do they learn English those are two completely different things. So back to me calling people idiots for finding my post ignorant and offensive, thats exactly what they are idiots.

Dracos pronunciation is better than that of the average non-english european, and yes I hear a lot of them talking english on a regular basis.
|
When you take all people and situations into account its hard to judge somebodys English abilities. Looking at the average situation of learning English in school and use it rarely on vacation Dracos are pretty good and related to all Broodwar vids where none native English speakers talk I feel positive about this in his interview.
But its still far away from being "damn well" when you begin to take all people into account. For example a half polish and half german friend of mine would pronounce "awesome" in the american way and of course there are many people who pronounce everything like native English speakers. For example students who need it, people who work a period of time as a local national for Americans and so on.

listen guys, da point we must acknowledge right now is not whether draco has good pronounciation or polish have better english skills than otheres etc, but the fact that Canada actaully has English as their 1st language.. This means, Steve Nash and Testie and many others from that country can actually speak fluent English?!?!?! o.O caNADA?!?!!?

i'm polish and definitely far more intelligible than draco is. i study english and i've learnt that many native english speakers find it extremely difficult to learn foreign languages. this might be caused by the fact that they actually never needed to.
draco certainly received proper education, but good english skills, i believe, are not that common in poland as in germanic countries (including scandinavian) or finland for instance
made with balls ftw

Try again next season Draco ^__^
GO JF :D

Koreans don't speak Polish, like at all outside of some scholars and the embassy, right? So Draco would've had to work on his English to speak to the Koreans who spoke English when he was in Korea, no?
|
No. I'm pretty sure that isn't the reason he learned english well... lol. In fact, that's just plain retarded. MOST of the Koreans don't even speak english well at all, and he would have been better suited learning korean if he was going to waste time on a language anyways.
