I'm about 20 hours in at like chapter 10 or 11 and I'm enjoying my time with the game more and more. It's at least the best Final Fantasy game in 15 years as far as I'm concerned.
Some of the complaints I've heard from people are just dumb. Like I recall hearing someone complaining about the summons being lackluster but I think they are probably the most powerful and impressive summons ever. I love them being integrated to the world as gods rather than just being a boss at end of some random dungeon. Normally in a FF game you wouldn't really summon someone like Ramuh too often and he wouldn't get much done either, but here when I get the chance to summon him, it's just hell yeah iWin button.
Of course the game still has of issues and bad design choices. It's still great but could have been amazing.

Really enjoyed the game. After I finish World of Final Fantasy I'll be back for the endgame content

You come off sounding like a penny pinching douche. If you are interested in the game and can afford it, just buy it ffs. You sound like an annoying extreme couponer.

Lol ok.
That being said, I'm picking up the game this weekend (for 20% off ). I've heard and seen more things that are winning me over as the game's been out longer, compared to right at release.

So being a sensible adult with a responsible budget is being a douche now? Don't know about you but while I love games they fall pretty far down the list on my budget, getting a game at a discount means extra savings, buying something else I also want or an extra meal out with friends, who wouldn't want to do that?

I'm curious if anyone playing (and/or enjoying) the game has also played Xenoblade Chronicles or Xenoblade Chronicles X. A lot of the footage and overall impressions I'm hearing are not unlike that game, which is a selling point for me. Sure probably not the most amazing writing or characters or sensible story. But vast sprawling beautiful landscapes to journey across. Monsters just roaming the world, many of which you can't take on until you're much stronger. Simple but entertaining enough combat. Those games had tons of side/fetch quests too unfortunately, which seems to be one of the major complaints from FFXV players.
It really seems analogous, and I enjoyed those games a lot despite all their flaws, so that's the biggest factor that's drawing me toward a purchase right now. Was just curious if anyone had a comment.

Big fan of both Xenoblade and FF games here. FF XV definitely shares a lot of the good and bad points of Xenoblade games. If you enjoy those you should most likely be right at home here.
Anyway I just spent about 5 hours doing the post-game platforming dungeon. I'm not really a platformer guy so that was brutal as hell for me. I'm not a achievement guy either, but I couldn't believe my eyes when no achievement popped up after finishing that ordeal.

i got bored reading final fantasy reviews so i went on a dating website instead and typed in final fantasy LOL WTF THIS WEBSITE IS SAYING IM ONLY 31 I THOUGHT I WAS 34

finally finished FFXV, wow that one chapter near the end was absolutely insane.
still working on postgame, i really enjoyed most of the game. the story is there, but it's not fleshed out enough properly for it to be considered amazing, but the gameplay is super fun. if they added a lot of cutscenes in the right places (dont want to spoil), i think the story and gameplay would be as perfect as you could get with this, but alas. they're planning on adding some updates though.
also hate hate hate that they purposely cut out content for the character DLCs.

The interviews mentioned that they wanted a certain length to the game and had to make changes to fit it into that. So was probably dual reasons for it.

Just killed Adamantoise, only took me bit over an hour and two Phoenix Down's since Prompto and Ignis got themselves instagibbed once.
What a boring fight though, an hour of blink striking his eye. Then again it wasn't that bad after chapter 13 and Pitioss dungeon.
Already put almost 15 hours into playing the game after finishing the story, probably going to burn out soon but it's still fun for the time being.

Yeah it's actually a great example of what happens when game development is rushed.
The gameplay is absolutely wonderful and gorgeous and unique. There are only a few big big gameplay problems such as the uselessness of your teammates except as a distraction, the over-reliance on potions, the camera angle in confined spaces, and then little quality of life issues like missing an unlimited Chocobo time option, long load times for fast-travel, jumping and pick-up on the same button.
If they had time I have no doubt they would've made the story more coherent by itself, especially if you didn't watch Kingsglaive or Brotherhood. This would be a solid 9 and easy GOTY if the story was fixed in later patches, but that's really not how games should work, you're kind of shitting on your loyal fans. They are will supposedly add stuff to Chapter 13 and New Game+ mode in the next patch.

yeah cause witcher 3 was super jammed pact with action no matter which direction you ran. you had more chaos in GTA than witcher 3. Witcher 3 was essentially grasslands with housing inbetween here and there. you may run into a monster / apparition but it wasn't by any means jammed packed with action for it's terrain at all. ending of the game makes it feel very empty as well. witcher 3's caves were probably some of the worst designed caves in any rpg. they were so bland and completely uninteresting. Skyrim at least did a better job with caves and is about the only thing they had up on the witcher.
Fall out 4 actually has a lot of random fights going on but even that wasn't necessarily great.
On another note, didn't they say this game was going to be a trilogy? after hearing that i kind of lost interest in it. trilogy definitely implies an unfinished ending therefore unfinished game.

I think you might be confusing trilogy with FF XV, XIII and Type-0 being loosely tied together.

maybe? idk I have to look around more during non finals week.

FF7R is going to be a "trilogy" FF15 is a trilogy in that you need to watch the anime, then the movie, then wait a year for them to release some DLCs so the game itself actually has a story
|
Square what have you done. It is nice to see a FF that almost everyone seems to enjoy again. And its nice to see you put in so much effort afterwards to fix the story bits that are lacking. So people don't have to see the anime and movie. But we all know that this will pick up and show its corrupted form in 6 month, when the usual culprits will release story skeleton bits to crank out games even faster and a promise to maybe add in later.

So after reading about this game, the combat seems to work, be fun or w.e with some minor flaws overall. So i might buy this game and play IT. Thats rare nowdays.
Anyway, iam looking for a discount aswell, hopefully it will come feels a bit bad to spend so much money on a game that is singleplayer only and doesnt have a super great "endgame" as far as i can tell
Err its not like iam rich by anymeans, €60 is alot for me.
