I think this new initiative from Blizzard requires it's own thread.
This is huge, and I want to about it..
First, I am looking for a team. I am not pro, not in the least, but I do understand many heroes at a fundamental level. My helix rocket timing is pretty good, and I have decent tracking with 76.
I can heal like a monster on Mercy, but as many knows, it's hell healing solo queue. If a team is well coordinated/positioned, I can solo heal with Mercy.
And last I'm willing to learn new heroes, as long as I have someone to learn from.
Next, I want to talk about if this initiative will work or fail. Many in the OW general thread says it's a bad idea for Blizz to operate the league, and should hand it off to third party organizations.
I think this initiative is what the community needs, and has a grassroots feel. The challenge will be huge though, and there are many great players that either plays pro or stream.
If recruitment discussion requires a new thread, please let me know where to place them, and I will post there.
Thanks

I have no personal behind the scenes knowledge. But some of the more knowledgeable people think Blizzard handles Overwatch worse then all their other titles so far. Thats probably a reason why some want this to be non Blizzard handled.
Their game making and marketing skills have gotten so good. Especially the marketing seems to have done a great job at selling the esport Overwatch part to investors from outside the gaming region. While Blizzards wish for controlling the esports part of Overwatch did alot of hurt to it already.
So everyone is scared, that if this project fails, it will hurt the whole of esport. And given Blizzards track record, people should be scared. And seems alot of the Esport teams don't want to risk investing into Overwatch anymore either. So everything looks real bad right now. Except Korea of course.
But because Blizzard is doing everything behind closed doors, we only hear the bad stuff. So lets hope there is some good stuff. Aside from Sports teams getting into the esport scene ... which will turn Overwatch Esports into Sports where money determines the winner even more as in Esports.

I assume a lot of Blizzard's shortcomings in handling the eSports scene has a lot more to do with Activision meddling over intellectual property dispute and royalties to establish these tournaments. Especially after the merger in 2008 followed by the 2010 lawsuit against KeSPA; no surprise there's a lot of skepticism after that incident. Blizzard is a great company tainted by shitty investors

in NA, there is zero ticket demand for live events. it doesn't matter what they do. you can't get blood from a stone.
if a guy like Vince Mcmahon or Dana White were running this show he'd pack it up right now.
