Snowfall by IronManSC Search for KOTN Snowfall
I am excited to announce that for the rest of 2017 (2018 is a possibility), I will be conducting map streaming work for Kings of the North, with mapmaking on the side. My devotion to the map community will be aimed at bringing a better player and fan experience to the KOTN organization, whether short-term or long-term. I still have some smaller details to work out on this map, which I will finish up on stream under the KOTN banner this week. Until then, it is published for you to try out.
My first KOTN map is Snowfall which features Asian pagodas and other related aesthetics throughout the map to feel more ancient. The setting is in winter, which produces a fear-mongering, war atmosphere that ties nicely with the artwork. Special thanks to RQM for lending a hand!

Oh wow congratz. Does that mean we should expect the next KOTN event to have a non-ladder map pool?

Don't know the full details, but it may have a new map at the very least. My purpose is more towards the map streaming/content for the rest of November and December this year and we'll see where it takes us in 2018.

Easily your best map for LotV.
I'm wondering if the large rocks in the center might be better off blocked partially by a 6x6, but I'm not 100% on it.

The main reason I put rocks there was to lengthen the rush distance. Now, in the mid-late game, that path becomes pivotal for use.

I like the layout and base locations here. The destructible rocks in the center are pretty interesting.

I agree, the base locations and layout are really cool on this map, and the center rocks should serve their purpose well as they are. I'm loving the influx of medium, 14-base maps lately, makes sense for the new patch's resource change.

Love this map, it has old school elements but a modern twist.

Nice map Iron, I really like the change of texturing to be honest it is for the better. The other texturing was not giving me that "wow" factor, and this new texturing really makes it unique and stand out. Was also great watching the process of this map being designed gave me drive to do more maps and also ideas on stuff I normally get stuck on.

As I said, this is a decent map and I learned much by looking at the map's layout closely. Wanna see games on this map soon!

Just saying The mid is a bit "shorter" and different ofc, so should play out a bit different obviously. I'm sure there's other maps with similar five bases if you looked--it's a pretty standard looking layout. I do think the mineral line positioning is much better here.

It is funny how close the resource positioning is to Neural Site. Nothing wrong with that though, it is a very good map. I'd definitely leave those rocks in there (without seeing any games played on it).

Shoot, I keep missing the streams and forgetting to check it out later. The map looks good, so I'll really have to find the time this week. It looks like it's pretty close to being finished, will you be playing games on it with KotN folks by chance?

The map is completed so you can play it whenever. It was designed for KOTN, but whether they use it or not is their choice (they probably will). I may submit it to the TLMC as well.

A lot of maps have similar, or the same base placements. Shoot, Mech Depot and Dragonshire are almost identical, but they are a different map and ultimately it’s the concept and flow network that matters.
