Is it actually going to be all bo5s?I thought it was going to be regular double elimination. If they're going to be doing 5x3-5 matches, that's insane.
I'm not too sure about those dates though, where were you getting this from? On the announcement pages (https://ksl.starcraft.com/en-us/about/), The dates they've given are 4 weeks from July 19 to Aug 27 to complete the group stage, twice a week. So I guess that means each group will be finished over two nights? First night they play the first 2-3 Bo5s, and the other day finish the rest?
That's the only way I can concieve of them doing it because doing potentially 25 games in a single night and then 25 the next night is pure insanity, one player could concievably end up playing 15 games in a row which is just not possible.

It's 2 bo5's per night.
It will probably be opening 2 matches for each group for the first 2 weeks. Winners & Losers matches per group for the following 2 weeks, and the final matches in the 5th week.

Yes, this sounds much more sensible, so each player gets a rest between bo5s. This feels like a really good system, I think I prefer this to the bo1 double elims in ASL. And I see now about the weeks, I had to look at a calendar, my brain couldn't work out july19 to aug17 = 10 nights.

Sad no Flash like everyone else, but hyped as fuck regardless. I also didn't know hero went to the military, which is a shame because I feel like there might not be many strong zergs left pretty soon :/ poor JD is hindered by his physical issues and may not stick armuch much longer.

I wonder, what's map pool and will bo5 have 5 or 4 maps?

So to summarize: new cool BW torunament is coming, your reaction is "poor casters, having to cast all that bw". You sure are enthusiastic huh

Well their standard work day seems to be about 3 hours of actual casting. They'll have to do 6-10+ now. Sorry that I show some empathy. And tbh I don't see how hosting one tournament makes up for all the crap they have done to BW, even if you just look at their shitty attitude towards ASL since Remastered launched.

How is this math working? ASL Groupstage had one group a day with 5xBo1. Thus five games. 2xBo5 can at max be 10 games. That would at max double the amount of games. But at least you get rid of the setup time which you have for every Bo1 in ASL Groupstage. So for a Bo5 to conclude you have 3-5 games. Avg is 4, so its 8 games for a set which are 3 games more than in ASL groupstage on avg. Thats probably 1hr more of casting, especially if you consider the smaller total setup time for the players.

I mean HotS has 8+ hour streams three times a week for HGC. BW just always had short broadcast days due to BO1, I don't mind them being longer.

I'm pretty sure Tasteless and Artosis are more than happy to cast all that Brood War. These games are gonna be sick!
Besides, the only possible downside I see is if it ends up being a TvT Bo5. Most Bo5 don't actually go that long I find.

I see that Blizzard still shilling SC2 hard by using BW as a sort of tie-up, brand ambassador type thing. In a perfect world I hope BW would just sell it to the Korean government or something lol

Are we complaining about Bo5 double elimination? I've been waiting for this tournament format for years. This is fantastic.
