Now I Has to TaeJa all How it's done. It's Arctur soO simple when you Arctur Try, but don't get me Ryung as I may just be a NaTuRal. I don't know any of these players other than Soo (mediocre SKT Zerg back in the day). Soo much for relevant name puns. To be fair, soO did make the semis in Jin Air OSL and lost to Jangbi so he wasn't all that mediocre but yes, all the ones he mentioned are new and/or retired Starcraft II players and this is the BW forum lol. Probably didn't notice where the thread was ^^ It depends on what the definition of mediocre happens to be. A single semi-finals appearance doesn't necessarily save a player's professional career from relative mediocrity, as evidenced by the likes of BackHo, TypE-B, and Modesty. I think it is somewhat disingenuous to pretend soO was a good Brood War professional based on a single tournament run, and more so because he had such tremendous success in the Starcraft 2 scene, that the temptation to do an imaginary career projection with that in mind becomes a little too great for some. soO was drafted in early 2008, and this is the ProLeague records of his contemporary zerg peers (mostly drafted in early 2008, just like soO, or for Soulkey, drafted later on in late 2008): 1. RorO: 95-87 (52.2%) 2. Soulkey: 69-46 (60.0%) 3. Action: 67-72 (48.2%) 4. Shine: 63-51 (55.3%) 5. hydra: 64-53 (54.7%) 6. soO: 39-39 (50.0%) soO was much less accomplished within the ProLeague than the five more noteworthy zergs of his peer group, but was fortunate enough with the brackets to have a single fairly respectable tournament run. He didn't qualify for more individual leagues than any of the above five zergs, but had a decent surge in form towards the very end of professional Brood War, when professional players were splitting practice time between Brood War and Starcraft 2, but never proved his worth outside of that particular time-frame, which the other five zerg contemporary peers managed to do. It is like that bullshit narrative of MVP being a good Brood War professional based solely on his single quarter-finals run, and managing to take that one game away from Flash, despite having an abysmal career ProLeague record of 10-28 (26.3%). The threshold for mediocrity may be vary between folks, but I personally believe that professional careers should be based on the body of work, not based on promise and hopeful presumptions based on achievements earned elsewhere. I think people try to reach a little too far with Starcraft 2 legends, and try to spin a narrative that these folks were also good as Brood War professionals, based on a selective view point that suits their purpose. Lol. I like how an insignificant one line remark I made in some crappy thread somehow led to this long, meticulously researched post. | ||
