Sadly, being the best PvT player in the world STILL doesn't protect you from Maru, PvP can go either way at the highest level no matter how good you are, and simply improving in PvZ isn't good enough against the best 2 Zergs in the world. RIP classic, please prove me wrong, but I don't think he makes it to the finals no matter how the seeding plays out. Lets review Classic's PvZ this year shall we?
Serral (1-1): Lost 1-3 (WESG 3rd place match), won 3-0 (IEM)
Dark (2-3): Won 2-0 (GSL S2), Lost 2-3 (GSL vs The World), Won 3-2 (ST 2), Lost 1-3 (ST 1), Lost 1-3 (WESG)
Rouge (0-1): Lost 0-4 (IEM)
I may be missing a match here, but against the top zergs this year (Dark, Serral, Rouge, soO) Classic is 3-5. Against the lesser zergs, I didn't count but his only blemish that I saw was GSL S3 second match against Reynor. Other than that, he always wins (including his first match against Reynor in that tournament and their previous encounter at WESG).
Basically, Classic is not dominating the top zergs but they are not dominating him. It's pretty close, and if he had beaten Dark at WESG he'd be 4-3 vs Zergs this year since he wouldn't have played Serral. This myth that his PvZ is attrocious right now needs to end.

Winning against Maru didn't help sOs at all in terms of Blizzcon. At this point he just had to prevent Solar from winning the tournament. It doesn't matter if Solar would've been defeated by sOs himself or by Maru or by Classic in the finals.
Thinking about it, I could imagine that Maru specifically prepared for Zerg in order to defeat solar in semifinals for sOs' sake if he'd defeated sOs. Preparing for zerg was a good thing anyway because Maru had to defeat Rogue in his first round. Thus he obviously wasn't as prepared for protoss. And perhaps Rogue didn't look very good because he also prepared for ZvZ in case of him making it to the semifinals. I really like my little conspiracy :D

RIP classic, please prove me wrong, but I don't think he makes it to the finals no matter how the seeding plays out. Actually, I think that sOs showed how to dismantle Maru's style. The last couple of GSL's, he won just about every TvP through proxies. sOs was like, "Make a couple of shield batteries, and you get ahead." I think Korean protosses simply didn't know how good shield batteries are against Maru for what they cost, and now he's not going to be quite as dominant. Don't get me wrong, he's still a force to be reckoned with, but sOs showed that he's definitely beatable.
Bingo.
I think everyone else pretty much covered the reply im about to say lol, but I agree with you, the thing is Maru and TY playing standard, Non-Proxy playstyles are still a threat.
While I think his PvP is phenomenal, sOs just demonstrated hes not a pushover, Stats PvP is also phenomenal, and Zest is almost as unpredictable as sOs as to how well hes gonna play that day. any PvP matchup between these 4 will have classic barely favored, if not just flat even.

Nonono, im not claiming its atrocious. Hes vastly improved at it, but the fact remains it IS his weakest matchup, and against Rogue and Serral I think hes the underdog. Not unwinnable, but if he played each of them 100 times I think he wins ~40 matches. I place him Easily top 2 in PvT, Top 2 in PvP, and not even top 5 in PvZ (including foreigner protoss players). Its well known PvZ is his only actual weakness, even if that weakness has been shored up considerably from a few months ago.

Can't be more happy with the results. Two of my favorite tosses in finals, Classic finally grabbed a trophy years after... may be starleague in 2015... and sOs is back in Blizzcon. I don't know if anyone of them can pick the grand finals in Anaheim, but they are really needed for the game to make it more exciting in the final stage. Neutral fans should be satisfied too I'm sure. To be honest, those were not flawless matches. They were full with tiny mistakes but the reverse scenarios made this tournament more memorable than many others. It is strange because I was not that excited as I'd expect if I see them in a final match. Dark started the Super Tournament II really great and then he choked again which is a dissapointing for my favorite zerg. Kind of strange because Gumiho played well this year and just one loss from Creator make him losing tickets to Anaheim.
