Which map did you like the most and which map did you like the least during beta? Which did you think was the most/least balanced and most/least fun to play on?
Please explain why.
(I excluded Incineration Zone since it was only in the pool for a short period of time)

As Zerg I obviously go for Metalopolis. Need more maps with relatively open spaces imo.

Oops. Can I change polls somehow? (If I make new ones the results get deleted)

As a zerg player, of course my favourite map is metalopolis. I absolutely hate Kulas Ravine/Steppes of war/Lost Temple.
Kulas Ravine and Lost Temple just feel not balanced for zergs. But I voted Steps of war for the ridiculous one dimensional play on this map. I hate this map so much.
I hated desert at the begin of the beta, but now I just love it. It promote so much a different kind of play. That's what we need. Too much players are whining about this map just because they have to play differently.

My favorite is Steppes of War, not only does it look incredibly beautiful, its small size makes for very interesting brutal matches.
The worst map is Desert Oasis, the long ground travel distances is a nightmare. It's the only map I've downvoted and I'm glad downvoting actually works now.

Well first of all , Blizzard answered the question of worst map by taking out Incineration zone.
As for best, I guess I'll go with metalopolis. It's a nice clean map that allows for various play styles. Definitely is a slightly biased map for zerg, but hell, they need all the help they can get.
|
Favorite : Desert Oasis - because everyone hated it so much I forced myself to play it to get an edge ... then they took it out of every respected tourney just to shit on my chest lol
Least: Steppes of war - Bunker rushes suck, also I also remember ragequitting every PvT on that map before I split because of that all-in scv+marine attack...jesus that was fun

Metapolis best because the Terran doesn't have a quick easy way to establish themselves on a cliff.
Kulas for worst, as all the cliffs the terran can abuse are just horrendous.
|
I hate both Scrap Station because of the big entry that favor cheese and Desert Oasis is the least balanced map of the pool..
|
I dislike Kulas Ravine because it is so so biased TvZ and like Metalopolis because on a more open map Zerg can actually handle mech decently and Metalopolis and Desert Oasis are the two maps open enough for that.
Sadly, given the vote down system, most Terran players know this and avoid those maps (which means I didn't play a single Desert Oasis game and only 1 Metalopolis versus Zerg in phase 2).

metalopolis is ok,lt is ok-ish. pretty much all others are bad - terrible. really think lots of balance issues are related to the small maps with tons of narrow paths and weird gimmicks.
|
I really like all maps except Desert Oasis, which I only find "ok", voted for LT cause of the jungle theme.
Cannot understand why people dislike SoW and KR so much. :|
|
I love Steppes of War and I play Zerg. Just because I like the short distance to the opponent.
I hate Desert Oasis simply because it just doesn't feel like a very good 1v1 map to me. I could see it being a 2v2 map if some things were changed around though.

Steppes for short distance and nice action in game
|
Back when BNet logged your most successful map (they stopped that, right?), it was always Steppes. Still, I never really felt comfortable on that map so I guess it's weird how it worked out like that. Voted Metalopolis for favourite though (gogo zerg).
For least favourite, I went with Kulas after debating between it and Desert Oasis. It's just so tedious to have to break down like 24 sets of rocks in order to not die. And so many cliffs. So. Many. Cliffs.

Metalopolis is always tons of fun to play and is probably the most balanced map out there at the moment. I'd have said LT but..it feels a bit too claustrophobic compared to its predecessor.
As for the worst map, at the end of the day I say Scrap Station. The design is better than Desert Oasis, but I've had my fair share of completely retarded and fun games on Desert Oasis. On the other hand, games on Scrap Station more often than not ends up in some kind of cheese, and I can't say I like the layout (short air distance is eww in my book). To it's defense one of the most epic games of SC2 I've ever had was on Scrap Station, but I still rule it out. I'm an ass like that.

I'm not saying Blistering Sands is the most imbalanced map, but I am surprised that it is not higher...

I really like Metalopolis as to me it seems to be the most balanced map. Even though it's been called Zergopolis, I really this as far as exploiting certain aspects of terrain... Metalopolis certainly forces the players to focus on map control and army composition.
My most hated map is probably Kulas Ravine. Simply because of the ledge harassment and lack of open battlefields. This forces a lot more army control which is fine and dandy, but too often I find the ledge tactics gimmicky and just plain annoying.

I loved scrap station. It's so simple yet so fun to play on.
