To me, it's important to remember that the TSL is not just something to watch on the weekends, it's the only major tournament series that is almost completely open to anyone on NA/EU. You don't need an invite, you don't need a team, you don't need to travel or play offline events year round to build points, all you need to do is enter the qualifiers and win in them.
I think this format is and has always been one of the TSL's biggest strengths, and we've definitely seen that reflected in its results. So for this poll I'm thinking about not the next broadcast, but when the next qualifiers will start, and I think they'll have even more hype and interest if they begin within 0-3 months of the previous finals, rather than waiting ~6 months to hold only one TSL a year.
While yes, overdoing it is obviously bad, the full qualifier + broadcast format takes about 6 months anyway, so barring a massive format change I think the TSL would fit very nicely at twice a year.

no invites hopefully, separate EU NA KR qualis.

Right after the stream shut off on the finals I told my monitor I was ready for the next one to start right now.
I think holding these once a year doesn't quite seem enough -- assuming TL has like a sponsor and stuff ready to go... but we certainly don't one every other month like the GSL, of course.
I'd like to see two or three a year, depending upon their length and sponsorship availability. I'm definitely ready to lose pathetically in the qualifiers again.

twice a year would be cool

Also, I'd like to add that TL has always been known for the quality productions it issues, and the staff has never been afraid to delay a project for as long as necessary until it's perfect. I'd rather be hyped up for a balls-to-the-wall, uber-quality tournament consisting of the highest caliber of play once a year. The TSL would become devalued if held too frequently.

Dudes, once a year please. Keep it special
Maybe if the TL organization is hankering to run more tournaments they could get a team league going...although that would pose about 2 billion problems with the frequency that players are currently changing teams.
I have to say though, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to the Korean format of 3 starleagues per year. In fact, if they could keep the prize money high for each event it would be pretty sweet.
So I guess I'm undecided haha.

IMO, hold the competition once or twice a year to keep it elite and prestigious.

I feel like the qualifiers took a long time so there is nothing wrong with starting them now, doesn't mean the tournament has to start RIGHT after there done.
|
Once a year is fine, keep it prestigious IMO.
Unless you make one for Broodwar?
......<3?

I like the once (or maybe twice) a year kind of thing. Keeps it 'special' and whatnot.
I can see pros and cons there, but I think it is the best choice.

Start the qualifiers up again, and away we go! That would be fantastic
|
Well if the qualifiers start soon.... i should take about 5-6 months to complete the entire process including the TSL itself, that should put us right on for 2 per year!
|
Give me time to get good enough to compete.
Nah, but for real, ASAP would be nice.

I voted for "Start qualifiers now!!" but I understand why some people say it should be once or twice per year - TSL is one of best series of tournaments in history of SC, it should keep it's prestige.
Anyhow, TSL = eternal love! <3

TSL is just amazing! If the public could vote of course they would vote "many TSL tournaments" but lets be rational here ;] *i voted "start the qualifiers now!!" ;-*

don't devalue the quality of the TSL by making it more regular, once a year would be great.
|
Why have qualifiers not started yet?
|
I would say once a year is best; I agree with it losing its prestige if it becomes too frequent. If it becomes like GSL I would probably stop tuning in >.>

If we have TSLs often, they might fall victim to what the GSL is. Which is losss of a lot of hype because of too many occurences. If you take away the amount of them, the finals will be more epic. I also fear that the finals will get shittier if you have them often. That's what happened to GSL. not sure if it's related though. just a thought :/
