except its not a witch hunt. everything he was accused of has now been admitted, right? we are just waiting for judgment from EG. it is a fucking witch hunt. He said some shit to someone on the sc2 ladder, in private. And now totally unrelated people want him to get fired from his job??? thats not a witch hunt. witch hunts are where people are accused of witchcraft and everyone throws bullshit claims in there to support it (none of which are actually true, or even related to witchcraft). orb was accused of using insensitive language, and for the most part it looks it is true as he has admitted it.

I find the very existence of this thread to be completely hilarious. I refuse to believe the community is actually this sensitive; all I see is people sperging out.

A word is a word, it does not mean he is a racist and if he is a racist what he does in his own time is his thing. If he continues to cast well and be a powerful/useful analytic tool in the community then so what?
Get over it.
Also there's a lot to be said for the argument of Destiny. People have heard his statement on the use of the word in question here and how he doesn't give two shits what people think, it's just a word. So even if you have proof that orb has used the word, just because he raged and typed it out to someone versus saying it on stream doesn't mean anything. You still have no proof that orb is anymore a racist than Destiny is. Now if EG and other corporations simply just won't interact with orb because of this then that is their decision. But no one should be saying it's because he's a racist, it's because you don't want bad PR surrounding an obviously overblown shit storm that is based around a central idea that still has no proof. (Orb being racist)
Thank you, and good day sir. I think the Destiny argument is a pretty poor one. I think the way he acts is more indicative of why he was cleaning carpets before his stream caught on. As much as you personally are not offended or think that something outside of an official casting gig is irrelevant, this stuff matters to some people and sponsors will never want to be associated with it. You shouldn't see people who want to be taken seriously in any capacity spouting off this kind of stuff, there is no excuse for losing control of yourself.
Your argument makes no sense, it honestly just sounds like you want to bash Destiny but couldn't think of a good way to do it. Destiny threw around racial slurs and nobody cared, because he openly admitted it and he didn't really care what people thought of him. Anyone that was offended simply turned off his stream.
Honestly orb shouldn't have lied about it, but people are making this far more dramatic than it actually is. Of course it matters to some people, because those people ALWAYS want drama and ALWAYS want someone to bitch at. He provides quality content, he fucked up, there's no reason for him to be exiled for it.

Totally lost all respect for dj Heat. Why are you surprised? djWHEAT wrote a thread some time ago that sponsors and such need professionalism, but that doesn't mean you have to sanitize the entire community. You can have a professional face and a 'WHAT IS UP BITCHES' djWHEAT face for more casual stuff. This is the same thing, only Orb is a douche on ladder when he's not on the job. Oh noes. So in your estimation expecting high profile figures in a community to not call other people "dumb niggers" is sanitizing the community? Great. Well, yes, that would be the exact definition of it, expecting people to be manner at all times even when not in a professional capacity.
Shouldn't you be searching TL now to report all of IdrA's posts where he uses profanity?

If you're letting something as stupid as this keep you from enjoying the game and its community, you live a sad life and I hope you get your priorities in order. Yeah because my feelings on whether or not it's appropriate for the people who are representing esports to the masses to hatefully use the words 'nigger' and 'faggot' is a direct representation of my lifes priorities. It's so funny because the same people who say "it's just the internet, who cares!" are the same ones saying "support esports, make esports grow, we love esports!". You're on a site dedicated to StarCraft 2, Orb ( as sad as it is ) represents a huge orginzation that is vital to the growth of StarCraft and eSports in general. When he acts like the immature, raging, ignorant child that he is ( seriously why did they hire him ) it reflects horribly on both SC and eSports. If you can't understand that then I don't know what to say. Do you think any of EG's sponsors would be happy about this? No. Do you think this is something that EG is happy about? No. Do you think that in the future when sponsors look at EG's past employees that this is something that is going to make them want to invest in them? No. Uh, when orb is at home playing ladder games, that's his personal life. Nothing of that should be connected to his work. If you don't want to see him enjoying his free time, don't hunt him down, don't watch his stream. Vysage, you get it. Thank you so freaking much. People aren't forced to watch his stream or hear his casts. God ur dumb...imagine Day9 saying the N word...AT ALL!!!! Please learn what being a professional is before u type anything....an NFL player would get kicked off a team if he publicly said the N word LOL nigger barely means anything anymore, just like being called a chink is just like being called "idiot" or "asshole" these days. So when all the NFL players start cussing in private interviews and shit, they don't get fired... once again...are u dumb? people who think saying the N word and getting away with it should get fired lol...its called being professional...im white and i laugh at people like you
Once again i feel like TL is full of 13 year old white kids. Nigger doesnt mean anything anymore? The idea that nigger/chink doenst matter is rediculous. If someone ever said that to me in real life i would have to restrain the urge to punch them out. Its incredibly hurtful if you actually a minority. At least HuKPOWA is intellignet...
Edit: this post had nothing to do with orb, im just appalled at how much people think nigger doesn't hurt someone that is actually blacks feeling. after getting called a nigger from someone raging in hockey when i was 14 i can say that i wanted to cry. Condoning the use of shit like this is rediculous.

My guess is it's that they're afraid they might have to actually examine the way they use language themselves and not just go around the world like idiot children repeating any inanity that comes in through their ear-holes. Maybe you should examine the soundness of an argument which seeks to demonstrate personal, directed hatred on the basis of what a person says when they're feeling angry and frustrated. When you're angry, you're not TRYING to be polite or keep things under control. You've lost control! That's what being pissed off means! God, why is this so hard to understand? Orb didn't just go up to someone and say 'hey, you, yeah, you: you're a nigger." This is honestly the stupidest thread I've ever read on these forums (and that's saying a lot). This is a storm in a teacup, and I'm sick of this holier-than-thou presumption from people like you. Stop trying to allude to high concepts like philosophy of language (when what you want is psychology or sociology, by the way) or morality or history or whatever. This is a trivial event, and the only people that are offended are people like you who think they need to be offended on behalf of the people that these words are supposed to offend. If you resort to calling someone a "nigger" when you're pissed off, what does that mean? It isn't like "faggot" where 99% of people between 10-25 use it every single day, it's the kind of word that using in real life gets you smacked in the face. 99% of people certainly don't use the word faggot every single day, and surely not 10 year olds who couldn't even grasp that concept. Between the ages of say, 15 and 22, so, 7 years worth of meeting people, I've met strictly 2 people between both online and real life interactions that used the word faggot on a daily basis. 2 to several thousand often times is not 99%. Ironically they were both racist bigot assholes who were born in the south and were taught that it's ok to call people that because they aren't real people. I mean, maybe I exist in this crazy utopia where when people make fun of someone, it's actually about something measurable and relevant? When my professor essentially told me to fuck off when I addressed a question that he graded improperly, I went back to my seat and told my friend that he was an asshole. I went on to say that I find it almost unbelievable how incapable the professor was at understanding human decency and described his sense of proper communication skills to be like a black hole of insensitivity. There was some swears in there, mostly used as exclamatory words, but I never called him a nigger OR a faggot, imagine that. Orb is held to a higher standard than other people, what he does while on stream is in no way shape or form his personal business (to a large extent, Twitch.tv owns that content and could shut him down at any point in time for any reason they choose), and his actions were in a public place. It's open to public scrutiny, and it's kind of shocking the number of people that came out in droves to defend the use of the word nigger in public places. I understand the point they're trying to make by doing so, but I find that point to be highly irregular. Erasing the word from language seems like a far more appropriate action than using it so often that it loses meaning amongst most people. I'd be much happier if someone said the word nigger in public and no one knew what they were talking about (and further not understand why someone would even go out of their way to make up a word like that), than if someone said nigger in public and everyone laughed at how silly it was.
True words.

You do not deserve to be in such a wonderful community. cy@ He didn't say this under the EG tag. Shouldn't this "wonderful community" know facts like that before they decide to make a man lose his job and potentially career? You think this wouldn't be a big deal if Khaldor/Artosis/Day9 called someone a "faggot nigger" and the likes on stream, even though off the clock? It sure as shit would. Sure Day9 and Artosis have some more room to move since they have done so much and are beloved characters in the community. They would also probably have handled it better than to say that people are lying when there are hard proof. If you have a public persona you have a responsibility to uphold it even outside of your normal job. Richard Branson could hold KKK-meetings after work, that would be his choice, but you can't ignore it and just be like "Oh well that wasn't when he was working right? So no harm done!" To all those who are saying that the community destroyed his "career", he should have known better and adapted to actually being a professional face outward for EG both at the job and outside, as all the other casters are for the most part.

lol Starcraft sure brings out the best in people. I've had people claim they would hunt down my family members and kill them. One guy said he was going to go drink draino after he lost. I've seen all sorts of ridiculous racism and garbled rage spam, so, surely it's not surprising that one of the mainstream casters suffers from this problem. I also don't believe that because he used racist words it means he is straight up racist. Anyone that has rage quit before knows you just search for the worst possible words to throw and you launch them. I know I've dropped quite a few homophobic slurs on people after losing and I don't really care either way about one's sexuality.
