As I see it, there are few end of the world scenarios that most likely to happen a week from now: 1. A massive meteor hitting earth and whipping out most of life. As we search actively for those objects unlikely that will miss a big one so close to earth. 2. Yellowstone supervolcano eruption that will destroy USA and plunge the world into few decades of winter. It erupts roughly every 600,000 years and the last eruption was 640,000 years ago, and in recent years the site shows signs of activity. If so, interesting how the Mayans found out the exact date of the eruption. 3. Man made World War 3. May happen if Israel attacks Iran, but both sides aren't ready yet. What can happen is some extremists using the date to make a world shaking event.
Also, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!: + Show Spoiler +It was seen on March this year. Some people think it's a stargate for alien planet sized ships. If it is authentic NASA image, it really creeps me out
To clarify: I don't believe the world will end in a week from now. I'm only throwing some theories in the air, and I wasn't too serious.

When does the threshold for December 21st end. Are we going to say midnight when the 22nd begins in the last time zone to change days? I just want to say so I know when I can get on here and start making fun of doomsdayers.

Votes yes because look at the evidence!

Does it mean that the end of the world won't start in the US like it happens in all the movies? I would assume it will end according to whatever timezone the Mayan Empire would have been in (US Central? I have no clue, too lazy to look at a map). But since there was no concept of time-zones its really just a crap shoot. the mayans didnt account for leap years, so that date actually took place 60 years ago. EDIT: I did some research after posting realizing that i was going on heresay. the date is theoretically correct, but the biggest problem is the fact that in the mayan calendar, its the 13th baktum (era)... and during their calendar 12 baktums had already passed without the world being destroyed, let alone they never mentioned anything about the world ending. Its about the same as jan 1st every year. as far the planets aligning... that happens all the time.. it has about as much force on our planet as a butterflie's gravity effects the earth. If people want to enjoy their doomspreading please go for it, but at least have accurate facts. I don't think anyone spread doomsday base on accurate facts. 99% of the people do this for fun.

I'm glad you brought that up. Let's look at the evidence. I'll be waiting patiently to see what gems you provide.

You and me both...
Since I don't feel like studying for exams this year I kinda hope the world WILL end

I'm not expecting anything..

Some ridiculous lawsuits might happen around this. I doubt even a complete idiot would sue Mayans when nothing happens, but "World didn't end, so I want a refund for this." etc. is possible. You never know how nuts people get. I wouldn't be surprised to hear such news soon after the 21st.

This is crazy talk. Everyone knows the last Stargate big enough for an interstellar vessal was destroyed shorty after the Ori invaded the Milky Way. Get real.

Am I the only one that thought + Show Spoiler + was hinting at this? Anyways, it is complete nonsense.

The best part about this whole Mayan thing is laughing at the people who feel really smart when they say they don't believe in it and people who do are dumb. Also, laughing at people who think any "end of the world poll" is actually legitimate or says anything about the population. Yeah, you are so smart for missing the joke.

i was facepalming when i saw "anti y2k virus" software being sold everywhere
on a side note, i hope something "spiritual" does happen. wouldnt it be cool to find out the world has a god after all? seeing people floating in air going to heaven, bad people going to hell, etc. it'll be a sight to see
