Also, ask EVE and X devs how much people care about walking in station and ships.

The game may release but it will never, ever be as you "imagine". This game and Chris Roberts is a scam. Even Chris, when playing his OWN game criticized it and called it "bullshit" How can you be the spearhead of this project and not be aware of the state it's in when you get on LIVE in front of a camera. Hint: It's a SCAM. GET A REFUND. Edit: And to give you perspective. I was a golden ticket backer with over $500 into the game before I refunded. If you read through this thread I was every bit the defender of Star Citizen up until I saw the video of Chris Roberts failing to play his own game and I realized he has no idea what he's doing.

Star Citizen going badly would mean $100 million USD down the drain and the largest crowd-funded project going belly up. It's really bad if it does. And the trend hasn't been good for a while. The best case scenario is a somewhat wonky game that they can polish up over a couple years, as getting the modules working together is a massive technical challenge (that might be the core of most of the issues). Worst case scenario is criminal charges & a decade of lawsuits revolved around where $100 million USD went. Let's hope that doesn't come about.

You would be amazed how much money it costs to keep a 300+ dev team in multiple locations running. I expect them to run out of money before release and it won't require them to embezzle a single dime.

Even if its complete trash that never happens it will be still better for me than any generic World's Adrift or other Black Desert that happened 100x times already and bores me to death. You are asking why developer keeps donation page open? Uhm, to get cash? I would be more worried if they closed it.

Alright man. Have fun with your dreams. Edit: also I never do this but I had to check your posting history. You cried foul on NMS and shocked at how they could betray you. You name call in the Witcher 3 thread with no arguments backing up your viewpoint.you complain about Deus Ex... If you're so good at spotting bad games. How is this not sending you red flags???

A lot of the engine seems really ambitious, even assuming they optimize it well. Also concerned about the amount of content. They aspire to having everything in their world being extremely detailed, not sure if that's possible, just in term of asset creation. Oh, and weapon sounds were weak af ;D.

The question is: How honest is that footage? Like what specs you need? Can you travel far away from the shown path? How does it scale with 10+ people? Instancing (cause elevators and stuff)? Prediction: Even if that what was shown is super honest, the game(s) is like still 99% unfinished. You need to make it interresting too. Their 300+ employees should cost like 20 mill in wages alone, plus all other stuff and their ultra expensive motion capture thingy. Cant see them survive more than another year. e: that gameplay footage should bring them another 10 mill easily though

Oh, and weapon sounds were weak af ;D. i think they've done a good job in showing that their can get "detail" (細) right . creating detailed shit is slow as fuck but that's OK, that's what we want. it looks like they're sticking to the plan i think you can tell the FPS combat is not tweaked at all yet lol, when it took like 40 seconds to point blank some npc and there was no kickback on the weapon either On August 20 2016 16:24 gingerfluffmuff wrote: Nobody expected that after the shitshow that the friday gamescon stream has been. Cant see them survive more than another year. i mean they said the whole map renders so you can travel whereever you want so long as they have put it in the game. i think that's another thing we don't need to worry about. the instancing thing is super interesting. they need to be careful that they design game assets and systems to account for multiple players. for example, what happens if someone is trolling an airlock (or elevator) button and like 20 people can't get through. (i would hope the world is open PVP so you can just shoot him but i have no idea what their plans are for that). also for example, when you have two people in a tight corridor in the ship - do they clip through one another? do they change their animation so they move around one another realistically? or do they just vanish randomly like someone did in the video lol they will make the game interesting by succeeding with clever mechanics in combat, trade, transport, character management, etc . i have no idea what their plans for these things are the impressive part is that they're managing to achieve the graphical/world-building things that we've dreamed of . that no one else has had the resources to pursue. if you can imagine for a moment that the technical issues can be overcome , the final challenge still lies ahead, and that is how successful they will be at implementing clever gameplay systems On August 20 2016 16:24 gingerfluffmuff wrote: e: that gameplay footage should bring them another 10 mill easily though i expect dota to have non-instanced travel between maps now after TI hit $20M (or they can give puck +0.1 base turn rate, either one is fine)

If they are promsing this game to come out and be amazing, why are they pushing ship sales SO much. Why do they KEEP the donation page open? Why keep pushing ship sales on NEW ships when they have at least 10 other ships that have been "slated" for release for almost 2 years now? this is pretty obvious, development costs money. do understand that anything beyond the basic game package is completely optional; you can get everything using in-game currency. i'm still on my $60 pledge i made back in october 2012. Chris Roberts has said multiple times they have enough to finish the game but I agree with you, it would be stupid to shut down the shop and stop taking "donations". But why do they keep coming up with ship sales for new ships when they still have SO FAR to go in getting the ships already promised into the game? Why can't they fix their tutorial? Why can't they get true flight physics in Arena Commander after almost 2 years? I promise you they have NOT fixed the water effect. As of 2.4 it's still PRESENT. Play on a free weekend, RUN around. You hit the water line ALL the time if you're not constantly glitching through walls/ships/people. They claimed 2.0 was the God Patch to get more than 8 people in the game at the same time. They weren't wrong, 2.0 allowed up to 16 people to play together at the same time. Now they are shifting everything to 3.0 as the new "God Patch" but they won't say for how many people. They keep pushing this as an MMO but it's never going to handle hundreds, not even half that. They keep promising "dreams" but fail time and time again to get basic functionality into the game. If you compare this game to the same timeline of Elite and NMS and the original promise of 2014, then they are so, so, so far behind. They keep asking for more time and for being "open" they won't say WHY other than they need to get the new "god patch" in. (And dont you dare bring SQ42 into this, Chris and Ben have said multiple times that SQ42 is being run independently of Star Citizen at it's own studio in the UK at Foundry 42. they have said it'll be out end of the year but I'm not holding my breath) NMS was a trainwreck and people were salty over that. SC is going to be so much worse. I refunded and got my $500 back. I'm trying to keep people to GET OUT and WAIT for something to actually release before buying in but do NOT pre-order this or support this until they actually show REAL results. Not a pre-rendered staged demo (a la colonial marines) at a video game convention. the game no one has ever heard of? Worlds Adrift? You know why? Because Bossa Studios (also an Indie Studio like CIG!) actually has a plan in action to get a working game first BEFORE pushing it to the masses, it's evident in every single article, video and twitch stream they do. They aren't even asking for pre-orders because they don't want people to feel "robbed" until they have something worth paying for. This is how a true game studio creates brand trust. They have a clear path and goal and want to actually have something presentable before opening up pre-orders (Not Kickstarter! Because that's how confident they will be in their product) I trusted Chris based on his work with Wing Commander and Freelancer (Which I found out later that he was removed forcefully by Microsoft for failing to actually put a game together) and backed him but over the years things began to fall through the cracks and when I saw him on his very own LiveStream call his game "Bullshit" and nit picking his own game, I realized he has not looked at or touched this game at all in any real shape. He's collecting a paycheck. So again, wait for a game to ship before giving this company ANY more cash. That's it. I'm not coming back and I'm moving on to other parts of the website. You have all been warned. If you read my post history and my overall gaming history with this site, you know I never, ever react this harshly to ANYTHING but this is a full blown scam and I care about you TL folk so STAY away. Thanks for letting me rant.
