I'm not sure if T1 actually stands for Team 1
if so, SK Telecom Team 1 #2

It should be Faker vs Dyrus. Reginald is not their mid anymore. edit: There is something i don't understand, hopefully someone can explain. I know korea won the all stars thingy. So they can send 4 teams now. But in lol esports there are only 3 teams: Ozone, SKT T1 and Najin Black. Will they add another team? or those are all the teams that are going to participate?

Korea had a base of 2 seeds. Winning All-Stars gave them a 3rd seed.

Well yeah, i was serious. I thought all regions had the same amount of seeds. That's unfair.

I agree. I think the logic behind it is: 6 West (EU/NA), 6 Asia (KR/CN/SEA) and 1 addtitional for Allstars winner, 1 wildcard

I'll start by saying that I really do think Korea should have three spots. So should China. As was explained by Umber though there are essentially 6 Asian teams and 6 Western teams so Asia already has quite a bit of representation (more than Europe or North America do). Furthermore not all regions are even represented assuming we're qualifying a 'region' as an area of play that has a Riot server. There are no Latin American teams, Brazilian teams, Turkish teams, etc.
Hopefully next year will be the year we can get a much more global offering of teams but it would likely mean that NA and EU could only send two teams (or else have a really huge tournament). I see NA/EU/KR/CN only having 2 teams a piece before I see those four big regions having 3 teams each.

Asia has to split it up between Taiwain and SEA though. Imagine if the West started having qualifiers for South America and that took up 2 slots. I mean yeah, TPA did win last season, and that's great and all, but they were by far the best team in that region to date.

my favorite thing about cool vs. faker is they basically play the same champions, but have an affinity for orianna.
while i don't think cool is even better than dade or maybe even ryu, faker has already conquered korea. he's kinda proven he's a head above every mid there. cool is probably the best chance to challenge him in this tournament.
uzi should get hyped as well, but he's stuck in the quarterfinals where we might see him twice.

Also, does anyone think we'll see some tanking in group stages? I know it's risky, but between OMG and SKT T1, essentially 2 favorites in group 1 I think it might be a possibility. I don't think SKT T1 will do it though. They seem way too prideful and have way too much expectations to lose like that in the group stages, but considering the rumors about OMG throwing the finals and them not seeming too depressed about it it could be a legit tactic for them to not give much away against SKT in groups for a better chance at the championship overall.

I could see a team like SKT T1 or Ozone actually throw a game or two just to keep themselves unpredictable. Or rather, not "throw" the game, but pick a rather unorthodox and not perfectly prepared, but still cohesive comp in a not-too-important game to throw a massive wrench into anyones preparation. After all, placing first or second doesn't seem to do anything differently, except if they allow the first ranked teams to choose their quarter finals opponents or something.

If SKT goes 4-0 through the first round robin, I wouldn't be surprised if Faker just plays LeBlanc and Piglet plays Quinn against GamingGear in the second round.
|
They won't throw on purpose but they might not go into every match 100% prepared and play some generic comps they are used too. The format of having two games a day is bad to carefully prepare.

I strongly hope that Riot has some sort of procedure in place that gives an advantage to the first place out of groups to incentive teams to play their best and not throw.
If they do quarterfinal draws like last year, maybe let the first place teams draw first and have the option to draw again or something.

I like Cool, but I'm scared Faker is going to make him look at a bronze scrub.

as strong as t1 is looking going into this thing, they are also a bit cocky. it's possible that a team that can mechanically match up to them can catch one of their aggressive rotations off guard, much like kt did in the first game of regional finals. but being mechanically on par with t1 is asking for a lot.

ozone is for sure. they lost their series in champions summer more to surprisingly bad decision making at some crucial points in the games. skillwise both teams are about even overall.

IIRC faker says in an interview that he won't be as cocky as frost last year.
