DH by itself isn't that much, he didn't take out thatttt many top-tier koreans/foreigners. Thorzain is a foreigner. Let's face it: That plus him winning a premier event essentially locks him a seed unless another foreigner wins Arena 2. Stephano is pretty much confirmed as a seed, and if TZ does well in Arena 2 i think he'll be one as well. However, if MKP, MMA, DRG fall out of code S (ie can't make it back) for some reason, they should get the seed over TZ I think? They weren't averse to bringing Polt back in. Violet's a possibility if he wants the seed (and is a zerg too). Oh, and I forgot Iron Squid. If Symbol wins that... maybe him?
They're probably only going to give seeds out (or at least prioritize) to those who have fallen out of Code A completely. Both MKP and MMA are guaranteed to be as they will fall/fell to Ro24/32, so they can't fall out, while DRG and Symbol already won their matches so they're guaranteed at least Code A next season.

I don't know how much good would being in the next CodeS season do to him. His chances aren't that high at the moment, in my opinion, and while he certainly isn't the type who gets demoralised by a loss the risk of getting crushed in the first round I'm sure appeals to nobody.
It might have been worth a try if he still had only 4 months in SC2, but since he extended his time to 16 I'd much rather have him train hard for one season and then crush faces for the next one.

Hahaha, inb4 he no-shows to the GSL matches... that would be catastrophic. But he's a zerg, and a good foreigner, and will bring viewers for sure. If he gets an okay group like Nani's he can advance :D

Thanks Deamhack good event, lots to improve on though and please don't hire that interviewer again, he was the weak link of the coverage all weekend long and has had a chance,
All the others did a great job and I can see Incontrol doing more of that role in the future

It's been a while since I last heard this meme.
But in all seriousness, props to DH for a great event.

I dunno. Stephano hasn't really played much vs Korean Toss. Beat JYP, even with Inori and lost to MC. Not saying he won't do well but we don't know yet. And most of the terrans in Code S now are TvZ monsters (Jjajki, MMA, MVP, Taeja, MKP). Stephano has a tough time with Polt and Polt is not known in Korea for his vZ at all. Probably his weakest matchup.

I'd prefer to seed like 48 or 32 players directly into the second groupstage (i.e. based on DH Performance in the Past) and have the rest battle it out for the other slots. This way they'd have had a first groupstage which would've been smaller (full groups) and more meaningful. Seeing 2 Player groups played out was pretty meh imo. And I think for most matches the skill difference would be smaller in the first groupstage. At least I would rather see 2 (local) players on the same skill level battle it out than tons of one sided trashings.
From group stage 2/3 on I enjoyed the tournament pretty much but especially the first day wasn't really interesting in my opinion :/

Maybe the first group stage wasnt the most enjoyable to watch (I enjoyed it though). But for the legitimacy for the tournament it was great. Every player has a even shot at winning. It also helped the players to prove that they are truly the best in EU and at the same time the lesser known player could show their upcomming strengths.

I actually loved the first groupstage, even if I'd prefer an approach like GSL where every game matters. Nevertheless, it was good to see that relatively unknown players (Forsen, Seiplo, RunA etc.), at least outside the Swedish scene, could indeed measure up to some of the better foreign pros. With proper backing all these guys could have a major breakthrough.
Also, ProxyPanda was like the second coming of ActionJesus.

Absolutely agree with this. More starcraft2 to the people! Lets not make SC2 an exclusive club. Dreamhack always has been and I wanna bet it will always be for everyone not only the already cut out pros. In the end the best players will be in the quarters - semis and finals and what the community gained over the first day in terms of experience and good will cant be bought for money. Cut the source of new talent off and you will never grow.

Seiplo and Forsen have both a good reputation in Europe. At least I know them and I wasn't surprised to see them go that far.

During day 1 of Dreamhack Eizo Open Stockholm there was not a constant stream of high quality matches back to back, this made it a bit dull to follow (during day1). Day 2 however was excellent, I love the single elimination, cause it makes each match count more!
I think that the format of MLG is to prefer, because that format ensure that we get high ranked players playing each other already on day one. Sure it is only to determine seed but it makes into more a 2 day event then the one DH just hosted.
If you could take the best of both worlds...

I agree with this. Overall a nice event, but there are things that can be improved upon. All in all I would have liked a stronger player lineup and I miss 2GD as an interviewer/host. Of course there are other things that could be improved upon, but those are the two things that stood out to me.
Also agree with the Incontrol part, he did an awesome job and I really hope he continues to cast/host etc on the side of being a pro gamer himself.
