also some stuff i'd like to change for this season - discuss;
- more bench slots - remove dk's scoring system and change it back to default
|
Yay really hoping I can join this(if a spot is open)
|
What was DK's scoring system last year? ... i remember bitching about it... But I don't remember what it was.
|
|
Also yes more bench slots. Makes drafting much more interesting.
|
Back to defend my title!!
|
I can't wait to take your title!
|
I wish to defend my mighty 3rd place finish.
Also - I would like to see expanded bench as well and would be fine with a move (return?) to default scoring.

I think running yardage was adjusted down. So mobile QBs and RBs took a hit. I cannot remember if WR got bumped up directly or if the rushing nerf just made them more valuable in comparison.

Oh yea, that's right. It gave WR more impact, But it also messed up any cheat sheets you would make for draft orders.
|
Running yard was 15 per point last year versus the default 10 per point. QB passing was 40 versus the default 25.
Scoring is set to default with a few minor things. I'll remove them if you guys want. They are -2 for FGs between 0-39/-1 FGs 40-49 (vs 0); Points allowed 28-34 -3 (vs -1); Points allowed 35+ -5 (vs -4).
How many bench slots? 6?
What do you want the roster positions to be? 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 WR/TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, 4 BN, 2 IR is what its at now.
|
51136 Posts
is there actually any need for IR outside of keeper leagues? might as well turn those 2 slots into bench slots. i think the wr/te should turn into just a standard flex position.
|
I played with you guys 2-3 seasons ago and had a lot of fun. I would love to play again this season if you'll have me.

Edit: Just read through the whole thread.
Are there any changes to default scoring other than what was mentioned? Is this PPR or standard? As suggested, possible to remove the IR spots?
Also, personally I don't think 14 teams is very interesting.
|
As many years as I've played this I have yet to make the podium THIS MIGHT BE THE YEAR
|
Yeah and although DK did let people know in advance of the changes some people still didn't catch on until their 3rd or 4th pick.
|
I would like default scoring, but that's solely for selfish reason. I was in a few leagues last year and it was odd to see many of my same guys earning different amounts of points.
So I'm find having a different scoring system. But if I had a vote, I would vote default.
|
Ah this is the same day as my work draft. I'll try to double draft or maybe I just have to set priority list
|
If you want in, PM me. Not responding to individual posts here. Think we're up to 9 who've PMed me..
|
I can't figure out how to pm since I am at the doctors office but I will when I get home

Played in the non official league last year. I'll give it a shot this year too if it is not too late

If it's going to be on a weeknight, it needs to be late EST.

This is the same for me. I cannot do Wednesdays. Beyond that I can make stuff work out with enough notice.

wait for sure this is going to be a 14 manager league?
|
set it for next monday commisioner shitlord!!!

If it is a weekday it has to be after 5pm est for me

monday i have a lecture at 10pm EST.
|
I wake up at 5am weekdays for work. So, late isn't going to work for me
|
First, we need to get 12 people in the league by Monday...If we do, what about settling for 8 pm? 1:00 per round.
Think I PMed everyone who hit me up? If I haven't, send me another one..
Also, since I have no clue how to set it up to be the commish without managing a team...I'm having tonight be my "co-manager" but I won't be touching anything.
|
How many people are in it now?
|
We have 6 who have paid as of last night. I should be working right now though ,_,
|
as soon as i know the date ill send money just wanna make sure i can make it
|
Eh. Well, I PMed a bunch who said they were interested...Soon as they pay me, they'll be in. We're at 7/12.
If we happen to get 12 this weekend, would drafting Monday at 7:30 or 8 work?
|

I'm in!
Also, 8 PM works for me (assuming EST).
|
OMG I forgot to ask the most important question. Is this a snake draft or auction?
|
8 pm EST would work for me.
|
We're at 8 once c0ldfusion joins.
At this point, the next 4 who pay are in..So if you expressed interest and haven't yet, get your shit together!
20 EST, correct.
Snake draft.

Uh, so are we doing it this upcoming Monday, the 18th? 'cause I have another draft at 9:30 P.M EDT... Will our draft be done by then or can I draft in two leagues at the same time on the same Yahoo account?
Also, we're changing the IR slots to just bench slots right?
|
Yeah, the IR slots have already been changed to bench. Everyone is aware of the minor changes to points allowed/missed field goals? See previous page if you did not. So bitch now ; ]
Souma: From yahoo....
Can I participate in more than one live draft at a time? Can two people draft on the same computer?
While it is best to participate in one live draft at a time, you can sign into Yahoo on different browsers and run multiple drafts. - The actual browser must be different (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.). Opening a new window with the same browser will not work.

If it's locked for Monday I'm in just give me an answer fuckboy

Its Monday at 8 if we get 12. We have 8 right now. Two days to do it, I think we can if you stop being a turd and pay me. Then we got 3 left (and we have 3 people who are interested)..

We're at 10 of 12 (waiting on 2 people to join). When steelavacado/intact pay & join, we'll be at 12 and good to go.
Draft is Monday, August 18th, at 20:00 EST.

plz put rivalry week in so i can smash the ambiguously gay duo twice this year.

Could the draft be a little earlier? Poor europeans.....

Nah, 'cause people on the west coast don't get out of work till around that time + GTR's Aussie.
|
|
Uh, I see the draft date update but still only see 9 people in the league right now.
|
We got 12 hours for the final 3 people to join.

i vote we roll w 10 if the rest dont sign up by tonight

Assuming Intact joins, we'll have 10. KOFgokuon is a nogo.
We'll go with 10 if we can get 1 one more person.

We'll go with 10 if we can get 1 one more person. Really? I thought you said we had the 3 interested people for the full 12.
|
We have 10 right now (I just sent Intact the link to join). Two people changed their mind.
Looks like we'll be rolling with that unless 2 more people join in the next ~8 hours..
|
Edit: fine fine 10 teams is alright.
We should ridicule steelavocado for pulling out =p
|
Actually, I forgot to include SteelAvacado in that...It was someone else who changed their mind though. I haven't heard from him in a few days but he'd be #11. We'd still need one more though. I'll be checking this throughout the work day...
|
If you still need one more let me know. I can do tonight.
|
Sounds like we might be getting 12 after all.
|
We have 11! One more needed. I PMed SteelAvacado..hopefully he gets back to me soon..
|
What if we don't get a guy? I guess we'll have to wait to draft then.
|
we should just have the 11th and 12th people join together to make sure there's no shennanigans like that
|
I get the boot before the draft if no one else joins and you're going 10 teams
|
hmm I hope we find someone then
|
as stated before, dk can actually have his own team so i can stomp his balls off
JUST SAYIN
|
hah maybe he'll give in if the timing gets close and he feels bad kicking someone

Nah, I'm definitely not interested. I PMed everyone here who said they were interested but didn't join/whatever yet..

My team analysis;
QB: Russell Wilson RB1: Montee Ball RB2: Lamar Miller WR1: A.J. Green WR2: Vincent Jackson TE: Kyle Rudolph WR/TE: Emmanuel Sanders K: Mason Crosby D/ST: Cincinatti BN: MJD, Ridley, Boldin, Rofflesburger, Delanie Walker, Andre Holmes
I reached way too early for Wilson because I'm still traumatized by how much Brady sucked last year. I have solid depth, but no real players with the potential to boom.
|
Matt Ryan was available and you should have taken him, in my opinion
|
QB: Romo RB1: Jamal Charles RB2: Andre Ellington WR1: Antonio Brown WR2: Garcon TE: Greg Olson W/T: Percy Harvin K: Gostkowski D/ST: San Fran
I'm not a huge fan of some of the picks the auto draft made. I would have taken Jordon Reed instead of Olsen probably. I'm not sure who was available for me in RD2, but I have a hard time believing I would have went Ellington there. Also, drafting defense and kickers to fill out the roster before the end. However, it could be worse and I'm not too upset all in all.
|
2nd Worst City in CA8938 Posts
Eh, I believe A.J. Green, VJax and Wilson can all boom.
My team:
QB: Aaron Rodgers WR1: Keenan Allen WR2: Desean Jackson RB1: Marshawn Lynch RB2: Frank Gore TE: Ladarius Green W/T: Julian Edelmann K: Justin Tucker D/ST: Carolina BN: Ray Rice, Marques Colston, Danny Woodhead, Kenny Britt, Steve Smith, James Jones
Rolling the dice on: Desean Jackson, Ladarius Green, Ray Rice. Somewhat scared for Gore since he's definitely old.
Hoping Keenan Allen can produce as much as/more than last year. I think I have pretty good depth. My last three receivers (Britt, Smith, Jones) are all huge, huge question marks though.
|

Lynch has the potential to bust this season. Gore is done and Hyde is going to take carries from him.
|
2nd Worst City in CA8938 Posts
tbh I trust Lynch way more than I trust Montee Ball. =_= Gore however is really iffy, which is why I'm hoping Ray Rice can step up. Danny Woodhead should be a decent plugin in about a quarter of the games though - he certainly performed for me last year.
|
My team:
QB: Cam Newton WR1: Demaryius Thomas WR2: Dez Byant RB: Reggie Bush RB: Ryan Mathews TE: Jordan Reed W/T: Kendall Wright D/ST: Arizona K: Matt Prater
BN: Chris Johnson, Mark Ingram, Cecil Shorts, Riley Cooper, Jordan Matthews, Kenbrell Thompkins.
Solid at WR for sure. Wish I had not drafted so many WRs. RB may be a bit weak. Was aiming on targeting undervalued RBs in the later rounds. Reggie Bush and Ryan Mathews had decent seasons last year, however, there is always inconsistency issues/injury issues with these two. Chris Johnson provides some insurance as he hasn't been too spectacular the last few seasons but he has been consistently average. I think Riley Cooper or Jordan Matthews will have a huge season in philly so i was happy about that. Cam Newton finished 3rd among quarterbacks last season and I think his WRs are actually better this year than last.
Oh by the way tonight got the highest graded draft on yahoo when his entire draft was autodraft haha!!
|
QB: Matt Ryan WR1: Gordy Nelson WR2: Crabtree RB1: Adrian Peterson RB2: Shane Vereen TE: Julius Thomas W/T: Kelvin Benjamin K: Phil Dawson D/ST: Rams BN: Dwayne Bowe, Kaepernick, Carlos Hyde, Ben Tate, Coby Fleener, Zac Ebron
I feel like I'm fairly solid in all areas with some real boom potential with some of my picks. A number my guys are entering their sophomore seasons or coming off down years, and I'm betting on big rebounds. I think Hyde is going to be a monster later in the year.
|
QB: Nick Foles/ Philip Rivers (I'm not sure) RB: Matt Forte RB: Le'Veon Bell WR: Randall Cobb WR: Andre Johnson Flex: Cordarrelle Patterson K: Robbie Gould D/ST: Sea Hawks! BN: Rueben Randle (sleeper?) BN: Darren McFadden (dumb) BN: Brian Hartline (how did he go so late?) BN: Antonio Gates (Two TE's is a viable strat!) BN: Christine Michael (Deep sleeper/waverwire dump)
I am pretty happy with my team. I was really hoping to get Gronko, but you can't get everything.

Please Peyton, lead my shitty team to victory!
But seriously, I am very meh about my team. Solid at QB and RB but struggling hard at WR. I need a lot of things to fall into place - Bradford has a great year finally and Tavon Austin is the beneficiary, the Bills and E.J. aren't horrible so C.J. and Sammy Watkins do well, Trent sucks it up in Indy and Bradshaw proves to be a capable, reliable play week to week eventually, Sankey gets close to RB1 number of carries and holds on to the ball and isn't completely horrible, and Kenny Stills is the beneficiary of Colston being 100 years old and Drew Brees throwing it all over the field.
It's gonna be FINE guys

Letting hawk grab Josh Gordon in the 9th may come back to haunt us.

I took some pretty big risks in the early rounds. Go big or go home I guess.

|
On August 19 2014 22:30 c0ldfusion wrote: Letting hawk grab Josh Gordon in the 9th may come back to haunt us.
I didn't even know he had the possibility for a review. I would of blown a 7th (maybe 6th) round pick on him to just stash for a hopeful playoff run. Having Brandon Marshall Roddy White and Gordon in the playoffs is OP!
But now I know for my other leagues to eye Josh Gordon. So is there any news yet on him? I saw him playing last night, is that a good or a bad sign?
|
Afaik there is no news. Everyone is still waiting on a ruling to come down. It was speculated when it first happened he might get suspended for an entire year, which is where most of the fear is probably coming from. He can play while he is appealing. A season long suspension is still very possible but not as much of a sure thing as before.
|
I'm betting it'll be 8 games (or less even).
|
May not matter, did you see how bad both Brown's QBs looked last night? Not pleased with my draft, I had never taken a TE in the first round and it really screws with your team the rest of the way. But being 10th he was the best available.
|
Josh Gordon had the same qbs (or worse arguably) last year.
Jimmy @ 10th was tremendous value for you.
|
No worries. Josh Gordon isn't playing this season. I guarantee it
|
I think it's so idiotic Gordon is facing a season suspension for marijuana when MJD gets 2 games. Fuck the NFL.
Sorry to Jay (Tonight) for the autodraft shit. Apparently, Yahoo lets allows co-managers to do EVERYTHING besides drafting, of course. But they are able to view the draft...so stupid. Wish I knew beforehand.

I'm pretty sure it was codeine, not cocaine...Gotta get your purple drank on. I actually used him as a prime example of whats wrong with sports drug testing in general for the university course I teach. The NFL has incredibly low standards relative to other US sports and international organizations when it comes to a positive test for marijuana. The DUI I wasn't aware of but that's just plain stupid on his part. Also, for the domestic incident, do you have a source for it? I did a search, albiet a brief one, and didn't find much..But the NFL is now changing its response to DV though thanks to Rice and everyones reaction.
Yeah c0ld, tonight still got lucky. Too bad about his RB2 though; that just sucks.

Ellington? Why are you guys down on him? Yahoo puts him at roughly the same rank as other sources.

RD2 I don't think I would have taken him. He hasn't really proven anything in one year that says he is worth a second round selection.
|
Can't put too much faith in the rankings...I'm a statistics nerd (I have a heavy emphasis on stats while getting my doctorate) and I follow a lot of other stat nerds who do fantasy football in their free time (mostly those that use R to do their analyses since it combines both my love of R and fantasy sports) and if I've learned anything, its that rankings are highly variable. Additionally, I'd rather go with my gut feeling than some other person's ranking; that way, if it's wrong, at least it's my own mistake and not a supposed 'expert'.
|
I can't find the bit on domestic violence for Josh Gordon. Perhaps I was wrong, but i swore I read that there was a police call about a domestic dispute or something for Josh Gordon shortly after the DWI. Maybe I was wrong though.

Interesting, what was your doctorate in? This may be a difference in philosophy but as a general matter I don't think there is enough data to go around in ff (as opposed to say baseball or basketball) to do a purely quantitative model. In fact I'm more inclined to subscribe to a purely "fundamental" model based on tape, injury history, etc., though a hybrid model is closer to ideal.

Still no settlement on the Gordon case, at this point it's being reported that it might be an all or nothing outcome.

Speaking strictly as the Giants fan in me, I hope that Washington will be a difference maker this season but honestly I'm not _too_ hopeful.

Yeah, 80yard rushes are pretty common. Bell is getting more touches Bush looks like the "change of pace" guy.

Yeah because its preseason. They probably took him out after that 80 yard run. Leshoure is in their now. I'm telling you everyone is sleeping on Bush

I think he is rated exactly as he should be. He'll have some decent games, but it won't be like last year. Bell is going to get 90% of the goal line work and a lot more touches than he did last year.

Hah, nice try woody.
Hawk is probably going to wait to see if there's an injunction before dropping him. (He already posted in the NFL thread.)
|
Huh, wait, what else can be done now. I have a draft this Friday, should I be eyeing him still?
|
He can sue the nfl and then request an injunction which, if approved, would allow for him to play until the matter is settled in court.
|
But really, he is a dumbass and should be suspended
|
hey, why Khiry Robinson?
I'm confused by that moved.
|
Yeah me too. I honestly think mark Ingram is the guy to own. Not counting Pierre Thomas ofc
|
I'd join if you're still looking for a 12th manager.
I'm a European so I naturally have no clue about football but I've been playing fantasy for three years now and have done fairly well in anonymous nfl.com leagues. I feel it's time to step up my game and get into a league where most people take it somewhat serious.

I looked at the league settings and didn't see it mentioned anywhere either, I will just assume it's gametime.

It wasn't his fault. He was logged in, but he is a CO-manger, and they can't draft. No one knew. And it seems really silly.

Hawk's team was autodrafted in the beginning. Forget which round he turned up.

I saw the Ellington news when I was at work. I have him in another league where I have absolutely no RBs. It hurts, it hurts bad. The worst part is every time it's something to do with the foot it drags on forever and usually lasts all season off and on.

Yeah if Tate stayed healthy it probably would have been a push. I might have given Matty Ice an edge over Kaep just because of the matchup and ATL and NO likely getting into a shoot out but obviously I have the benefit of hindsight and Kaep did look really good he just didn't need to do much in that game.

My defense (St. Louis) shit the bed, as did my kicker (Dawson). Pretty much everything went wrong. However, because I have Julius Thomas, I still have an outside chance of winning if Malcolm Floyd does anything noteworthy tonight (TD and 60 yards will do it).

I play in three leagues. First team kinda shit the bed, down 26 points but I still have Ryan Matthews and Victor Cruz to play while he is done. Aaron Rodgers should get more than 9 points in the future and Gore, Lesean McCoy, and Alshon Jeffrey should score some TDs in the future (pls).
Team two won 93.96 to 93.78 (pretty sure this is my closest fantasy game ever) with Peyton, Vernon Davis, and WR duo of Roddy White and kicking extraordinaire Antonio Brown saving me after my RBs did nothing for me.
Team three won with Drew Brees and Cordarrelle Patterson providing most of the juice. I would have done better had I played my two bench RBs instead of my starters (bench Shane Vereen and Chris Ivory vs starters Jamal Charles who was a big disappointment and Alfred Morris who played alright). Dennis Pitta seems like a fairly good choice for TE, but I wish Peyton had chosen to give one of those TDs to my Thomas instead of all to Julius. Also I had the legendary Matt Bryant giving me 17 points from the kicker slot.
|

So Ideally, I'd like to get myself a decent rb2. My buddy asked me who i'd give up for moreno. I know there's other in the league who want oen of my extra wrs.
Starters: Rivers, D. Thomas, Green, Garcon, Pierre Thomas, D. Williams, V. Davis, Wheaton
Bench: Welker, Sankey (I accidnetly hit him instead of CJ2K and this hurts bigtime right now), McFadden, newton, Jonathan Stewart.
I think no matter what, I'm probably gonna wait another week to pull the trigger. I think Wheaton's value will climb, and I wanna see what happens with Welker. I think Moreno's gonna be a RB2 all year, but I'd prefer to buy low, not after a 100yd week.

Anyone need a solid RB? GTR, maybe?
I need some WR help so if someone needs him, Bradshaw is on the block. He's already putting up solid FFB numbers and he's clearly the better back so it should only get better.

Reggie Wayne could be on the trading block

Bradshaw is always a hit away from being hurt. That's been the knock on him his last few years
|
Souma decided to not use the priority on Knile Davis, interesting...
That's the sure shot use of a #1 priority if I've ever seen one.
|
Davis is probably only worth rostering for this week and maybe the next barring injury. Who knows, Niles might have a shot at unseating Reed. It's a way bigger need for him.
I love how my 228 points against is miles higher than all but one. Why the fuck does this shit happen to me every year jesus.
also im 3rd in the power rankings, fuckers.

I've heard high ankle sprains typically take 4-6 weeks, although I've also seen speculation that Charles may only miss 1 or 2. Mostly it's going to come down to how severe it is and if Charles can play through some pain AND be productive (something Spiller and Roddy White couldn't do both of).
I've now got Spiller, Bradshaw, and Davis on the block, bring me WRs!
|
There are many more fish to be had the way this season is going. Not wasting my priority on a running back on a shitty team for a few weeks.

Yes, and it would sound just as silly if you said Julius Thomas peak already this year.

No... the difference is Gates has lost speed, agility, and jumping power. He's old. Julius is not.

I don't think Gates is gonna go off every week like he did, but I still think he will fall within the top 12 at the end of the year. He's still a major part of that offense, and he's still the best RZ threat. I also don't think anyone but the top 5 TEs have major value though.

my other leagues I'm 1-2 and 0-3 and the actual talent I have on those teams is superb. That's FF though, you can have the greatest draft day ever and the players can have shit games on weeks you need them or you lose to ridiculous huge scores.
|
I am 3-0 in my big money league. I am losing hope in this league tho. Fucking Demaryius Thomas, Cam Newton, Jordan Reed, Ryan Mathews, Mark ingram. Fuck those guys. and then fucking shayne graham gets 0 points because of a blocked PAT. WTF
|
Normal scoring, 3WR, 2RB,WRT how's this trade? I give AJ Green and D. Williams and get Shady and one of Cooks, K. Davis, or Richardson. I have DT, Garcon, Wheaton, Welker, Thomas, McFadden,

LOL I'm still laughing. DT was a first round draft pick. I am personlly low on DT because Manning has so many mouths to feed, but he is still wroth a Le'Veon Bell-ish.
EDIT: To add to it. Oliver is just a mid season wavier wire pick up. It's pretty unthinkable that any wavier wire pick up will ever be wroth a 1st round draft pick.

My team would be too good with a WR1 anyway. Imagine if Keenan Allen actually performed :|
Steve Smith and DJax holdin' it down.
Also, no way is DT worth a Leveon Bell. Bell is a RB1 with good upside. Not enough of them this season.

Yea, your right about Bell now that I am thinking about it. But DT is wroth a high end RB2.

Just a simple fact of it being way harder to find a productive rb who gets 20 plus touches a game

I would call that more of a hopeful statement. I'm still going to try to pick him up in every league I'm in. But remember Cruz only had two good games, and 1 TD this season. It's not like there were a bunch of TDs Cruz was stealing from Randle.

I meant on his team, not as in a top fantasy option. I think at the very worst he's definitely a wr2 now.
Keenan Allen is a buy low for sure. He has to pick up.

Actually, Oliver would be a RB1 at that point.

Well so much for my rb depth
|
2 weeks in a row my kicker got 0 points what in the actual fuck
|
I wonder if Holmes in Oakland is legit. I really wanted him and McKinnon but only got Crowell.
|
This Asiata vs McKinnon nonsense is driving me nuts.
|
|
Asaita will be the lead back. Asiata was injured last week. Mckinnon cannot pass protect to save his life. Also Beckham will be wr1 for the giants. Randle sucks
|
Preston parker will benefit even more than Randle will
|
Ugh, Solar... trying so hard..
Say LaFell gets the TD this week? you drop Tyms? Say Tyms get it? It's against a Jets secondary on short rest man. The results won't be indicative of anything.
You're over-thinking this bud.
|
I have nothing to lose right now. I am in desperation mode. Patriots have turned it around and I imagine one of the wide outs will emerge as fantasy relevant. I can't play Kendall Wright anymore. I just can't.
|
McKinnon is the guy in Minn don't fool yourself
|
I am sure Minnesota's top priority is to protect their first round rookie QB. Mckinnon has a nice skill set but he is raw. He cannot pass protect at all. It's about the total package of a rb, and Asiata is a much more reliable option for them. Honestly, I think the game vs Detroit solidifies Asiata as the lead back at least until later in the season. I think they wanted to either test Mckinnon(which he failed miserably) or it was part of the game plan. Detroit has stout front 4, so they need someone with agility in that match up.
At the least if you have Asiata I wouldn't drop him until at least for one more week and see how this all comes together.

Trade between Swede and tonight hmmm getting Hillman for maclin. Bad deal for Swede I think. Hillman looked good, but juwan kept getting the goalline touches. With montee ball coming back this could be a rbbc very soon
|
Hmm, I'm not gonna veto - even though this makes Tonight's team extremely good. I'm still more afraid of Hawk's team.

Pretty funny that the auto drafted team and the half-auto drafted team are two of the stronger teams in the league haha

Hillman is going to be legit rest of the year, but I can't think of a time I'd start him over Ellington or Charles. So, I had to try and deal him. I actually offered him to 2-3 other people as well.
|
I really liked what i saw from Hillman, but i feel like he won't score many TDs unless he takes it to the house. Juwan Thompson kept subbing in near the goalline and I think he will be the goalline back. Then with montee ball coming back that just confuses things even more. I think no doubt hillman will be the lead back but it is shaping up to be a committee. We shall see.

League projections still thinks I will finish dead last haha. I came back for the 4th. I was more than half auto!
I'm half of the mind to try dealing Gordon to upgrade a position now, but my team will be absurd when he comes back. Hmm.
also in another league, one guy has Brady, Sanders, Gronk, NE D. He's currently projected for 218. That's definitely the highest I've ever seen in a pretty standard league

iuno, I can probably afford trading West, Oliver or Gore.
I'd want Josh Gordon though.

I would need a dub of whatever you're smoking to balance that out! The first two are not even starters on their own team. Gore is but there's no way id give Gordon to get him
I was thinking something like maybe crowell + someone like randle for a rb that is more reliable than crowell. Foster/Lacy are autostarts for me. I am just looking for a back up or someone to flex depending on match ups that week.
I am also interested in a semi reliable TE if anyone has...

West is the starter tyvm, but yeah, I was prepared to give up one of my RBs + a WR not named Djax.
Definitely not picking up Crowell and a Randle for a RB2.

Yeah I don't expect to get a 2 for him. I am looking more for a flex rb. Basically someone better than west but i dont expect to get gore. I just want the depth in case of injury, and to have an option besides flexing a wr each week.

yeah that's pretty funny. this is probably one of the more balanced leagues weve had in recent years.

romo is throwing 250ypg, and has 18td and 6int. hes not like peyton elite, but he is a easy start, and a guy who does put up elite numbers several times a year. calling him not elite makes it seem like hes a scrub who gets carried by the rest of your team. hes just outside of a weekly elite guy, and he can put up those numbers sometimes

Yeah true. But seeing the opponents i have left. I highly doubt I climb up to the top 6. Plus I have the lowest points scored which negates me winning any tiebreakers
|
Hawk, I am SO SORRY I didn't take that trade I thought Evans was a one trick pony.
|
haha im very happy i didnt take it now! thought i still will have 4 very good wrs and no te.
|
Gordon is back. My team was already pretty stacked prior to him joining. In my six wins, I've had the most points that week 4 times, and I've been in the week's top 4 in scoring 5 times. And in addition to evans, it looks like Crowell is finally the starter. \o/
I could be as high as third after this week if soumanly loses.
tonight: 8-3 mermen: 7-4 hawk: 6-5 Soumanly (6-5 or 7-4) zerg: 6-5 woody: 6-5 dontpuntme: 5-6 blackfish: 5-6 swede: 5-6 bloodninja: (4-7 or 3-8) xdaunt 4-7 solar: 4-7
Tonight is the first lock. If anyone at 7-4 wins next week they are locked. If bloodninja loses he is eliminated. 4-7 people are technically alive but fucked. They're eliminated as soon as six people have 7 wins, or if they lose again.
|
|
it's gonna be so great when I smash your stupid team in the playoffs.
|
My plan to limp into the playoffs and then inconspicuously dominate is well underway. It's a fine balance, really, losing games seemingly on accident and then winning when I have to but not being too dominant as to draw attention to myself.
|
I warned you guys that this would happen.
Now Hawk is going to steamroll us the rest of the way.
|
Yahoo apparently really likes me in the power rankings. In no particular order, I think myself, tonight, c0ld, and cksutler (mermen) have the four strongest teams right now. There's a few other strong ones too in the mix.
|
I love my team with Maclin now. Too bad Garcon is terrible this year
|
I do not. I'm barely in playoff contention. Palmer's injury really screwed me.
|
Stafford's still a nice qb even if the tds aren't there this year. plus when he hits you get a double down with megatron. and you are built around a nice group of wrs + gronk.
besides right now everyone can very easily fall out of the playoffs
also yeah garcon is beyond useless right now. I have him on another team. that team also has VD, McCoy, and Welker... it's an all star line up of retards who completely bombed this year. I needed to win out this week and that chucklefuck McCoy was starting while Jonas Gray was on m ybench.
|
The real question is, do you have the confidence to start Gordon this coming week?
|
I have to win out to have a shot at making the playoffs and I face two of the strongest teams.ugh
|
On November 18 2014 05:36 c0ldfusion wrote: The real question is, do you have the confidence to start Gordon this coming week?
I was thinking the same thing last night when looking over my roster. Evan's pretty much a must start at this point. Ditto Marshall. Even though I have White, Gordon vs that shit defense is way too juicy to pass up.
|
So, I know you guys will get a kick out of this.
I'm in an 8 man league with several friends of mine. Currently there is a 5 way tie at 6-4 for first place, with myself holding "2nd" by the second highest average score, less than a point a game on average behind the player in "first". It's a really, really tight league. Here I am, up against the player in last this week, and the dummie forgets to set up his line properly, and leaves one of his spots empty. I figure it'll be an easy win, seeing as I'm projected to score close to double what he's projected to score.
And here's my bench for the week.
|

Phew. I barely squeaked out a win.
Still third, weehee.
|
Remaining schedule is below. Lots of people in playoff position playing people they are tied with or +/- 1 game up on. Since myself and woody are 6-5 and playing each other, if either Mermen/Soumanly win they are locked. The final seed is most likely going to be 7-6, but could be as low as 6-7.
Tonight (8-3): Zerg, Solar Mermen (7-4): Solar, xdaunt Soumanly (7-4): Swede, Blackfish Hawk (6-5): Woody, Bloodninja Woody (6-5): Hawk, Punt Zerg (6-5): Tonight, Swede Punt (5-6): xdaunt, Woody Blackfish (5-6): Bloodninja, Soumanly Swede (5-6): Soumanly, Zerg xdaunt (4-7): Punt, Mermen Solar (4-7): Mermen, Tonight Bloodnina (3-8): Blackfish, Hawk

Well apparently Hawk and Souma and some of the others have their super competitive "big money" leagues elsewhere... I personally don't have another league I would consider to be objectively more competitive than the TL league.
I would _love_ it if we can make the TL league super hardcore next year.
Might as well throw out my suggestions for next year right now. These aren't a "all-or-none" set of changes. I think they're all pretty good individually.
draft: auction draft
waiver: FAAB (*strongly recommended)
roster: add 3-4 IDP positions and maybe add another flex (extend bench size by 1-2 to accommodate depth)
scoring: 0.5 PPR (*strongly recommended) I am open to enhancing the defense scoring. I believe yards allowed should be a factor. (I also think INTs need to be penalized more heavily. Eli's fantasy points last week are not justifiable given his actual football performance.)
|
Only thing I'd change is W/T flex to R/W/T. Everything else has been the same for the most part and I'm a fan of tradition.

I'm not sure I like the QB scoring. Eli Manning scoring 10 points after throwing five ints and only one TD is like wot.

The league has been going on for like ten years and everyone is a super sports buff. =_=
That being said, this year's TL league is closer in terms of the playoff race by like a game.
|
if we had a steady lineup for a few years id be down for a keeper league. never done it.
the only things from that list that i care for are ppr and maybe looking at defensive scoring. i agree, the flex should be wrt. it's pretty much a dk tradition to fuck up the settings somehow.

Yes to changing Flex to R/W/T. No to everything else. Maybe change waivers to re-order based on standings each week.
|
On November 19 2014 14:06 GTR wrote: Yes to changing Flex to R/W/T. No to everything else. Maybe change waivers to re-order based on standings each week. I prefer if you don't use your waiver you can continue to hold onto #1 until you absolutely need something.
|
Most people agree that FAAB is the fairest way to do waiver. I'm not sure why you guys aren't open to the idea.
Rolling waiver (what we currently have) makes every claim a binary proposition. There is no granularity.
Resetting waiver based on standing punishes players who did well earlier in the season. I consider this to be the least fair way to do waiver.
|
I want faab for waivers also. Make the flex w/r/t. Also 1 ppr would be nice instead of standard. I do not like auction bidding for drafts but I think that's just because I am not that familiar with it, so I am open to the idea. Also interested in doing a keep as I have not done one before either. Don't care for defense players if we did it maybe limit to 1 or 2 spots.
|
I'm not totally against faab waivers, just not particularly for it. I guess if I ranked it, I like: No waivers, current waiver system, faab, standings based
I have zero interst in an auction draft.
|
Thank you for being open to the idea.
I've actually never done an auction draft either. But it seems like the best way to express exactly how much one likes a given player.
We can take a vote after the season is over on any proposed change. I'm hoping that more of us will be open to making improvements.
|
Isnt auction draft something that normally happens in person anyway? I just don't find it particularly appealing. I like having a draft position and planning around that. Bidding for FAs at least sounds interesting. (on that note: what about announcing draft positions a couple weeks before, or tying position based on record from the year before?)
|
what do you guys think about 2 QBs?
My buddy did it in his league first time this year and he tells me it's been a blast.
|
We tried it one year in one of my long term leagues. You basically auto-lost if your QB got injured. You also auto-lost if you didn't draft 2 QBs asap since you'd get stuck with a duo like Cutler and Geno Smith or something like that which will get throttled by someone who went QB-QB-X In the first 3 rounds. It was cool because it introduced a new strategy, but it became really apparent that there was only one way to draft if you wanted to win.
Def not a fan.
|
2nd Worst City in CA8938 Posts
My main league is two QBs. It's different and fun, but I wouldn't want to be in two two-QB leagues.
|
Doing a 2-QB league seems like a bad idea if you're playing with more than 8 or 10 people in the league.
|
2nd Worst City in CA8938 Posts
It can certainly be frustrating, since if you lose your #1 QB for the season, you're pretty much done.
Whereas if you lose your #1 RB or #1 WR, you have a higher chance of recuping.
... though one of my teams never recovered from losing AP. :|
|
I'm pretty sure that the league was only 10 when we did that and you would still be fucked if you weren't doing qb-qb-x. The gulf between having two top 10 guys vs having a top 10 and a bottom of the barrel is huuuuge
|
2nd Worst City in CA8938 Posts
Nah you don't have to do QB-QB-X, in fact no one does it anymore in my main league because you can just as well pick up someone decent enough in the fifth/sixth round and not sacrifice your skill positions. I'd say it takes three rounds for the top 12 QBs to all be scooped up. After that you can just roll the dice on QBs like Cutler, Eli, Palmer, Flacco, etc. and play matchup (I rotate between Eli and RG3 in my QB2 slot, and rolling the dice on Eli paid off huge while RG3 was injured). You definitely want to get one good QB early... but getting two can be pushing it.
|
On November 21 2014 03:06 xDaunt wrote: Doing a 2-QB league seems like a bad idea if you're playing with more than 8 or 10 people in the league. It's fine for a 12 team league.

Sorted by total points in the tl league:
1) Luck: 259.92 12) Kaepernick: 169.56 (65%) 25) Bortles: 115.24 (44%)
1) Brown: 172.20 12) J Jones: 107.30 (62%) 25) White: 86.60 (50%)
1) Murray: 183.40 12) Ingram: 107.50 (58%) 25) Robinson: 77.00 (42%)
%-wise, the drop from 1-25 for QBs is almost as bad as the drop from 1-25 for RBs. RBs are also way more volatile (outside of the top 5 or so) year to year. And QBs score more too. So if you went rb over qb early, you'd basically have to hit this year's Demarco Murray to make it worthwhile. Not to mention in a 2 qb league it would be wise to get a 3rd qb too, so there's an extra premium on the position.
I dunno. I'm open to being coniveced otherwise, but I just feel like it's different but not better. Better, in my mind, is something that opens up more options for you on draft day: adding return yards to players instead of defenses so fringe players are now useful, ppr so a dude like Sproles is suddenly viable, etc. 2x QB really limits the number of viable draft strategies
|
2nd Worst City in CA8938 Posts
I never said it was better. In fact, I expressly said it's just different. That's why I said I am not going to play in two 2-QB leagues because one is enough.
QB scoring is different in my other league anyway. I much prefer that to what we currently are using in TL (c'mon, how does Eli get 10 points with five ints and only one TD?)
|
It wasn't towards you, just a general comment.
The other scoring change I like in another league is rewards for big plays and big days. Bonus for 40yd+ plays, 300yd days for qbs, etc. I also prefer 6td/2int for qbs, I think I like yards > poitns for defenses, and no penalties for missed field goals.
|
hmm.. I think you're right, in a 12 team league it might be better to add a QB flex rather than another QB outright to give you more wiggle room on draft day. That being said as of now, our roster is just not deep enough for a 12 team league.
|
Making it a full flex rather than just a qb position helps but it still runs into similar problems. Ideally you will still want to fill it with a qb who projects for 25 pts instead of a rb projected for 10. You just arent totally boned if one gets injured
|
Damn. I just saw what Murray did! I just picked him up 20 mins before game time.

I am afraid of josh Gordon unless he's on my team than I fear for my opponents.

I feel like my luck means like Gordon will put up a dud and blow up his knee playing in garbage time or something.
Deadspin's got some thing up about Evans now. Everyone is all on his dick. I'm so happy I didn't trade him now haha. I probably would have pulled the trigger if you sent the offer for Gates instead of subbing in Bennett. I also Evans in a package I put out for Graham that also included Rivers and Clay. I probably would have gotten boned if that were accepted
|
I _still_ think Kelce is much more talented than all those TEs. But his usage has been maddening. Stupid Andy Reid.
|
Yeah he's looked good with limited reps but I wouldnt' take the dive on him on fantasy because the volume isn't there
|
I really like Bennett. Wish the giants did not let him go. Gates proving to everyone that he's not done yet. I think KCs offensive style limits kelce. Too many dump offs and screens to half backs.
|
Bennett I like, but for whatever reason the Bears are in complete disarray right now. Gates has a higher week to week ceiling since he's more of the focal point there
|
I think the bears are getting back on track if they keep up after their comeback against Minnesota. At least I hope so since I have Marshall in a few leagues.
|
I agree about the bears. But in case you can't tell from my team, I'm kind of a huge bears fan (and a little Seahawks fan)

HAWKS SWELL TEAM OF CHAMPIONS MARCHES ONWARD. Ive got a couple favorable match ups next week too. I'm so goddamn pumped bout this team going into playoffs. Crowell is a legit #2 now and I won't even be starting him barring catastrophic injury to Iron Man Arian Foster.
That catch was absolutely bonkers.
e: also, with the way Beckham is playing, Don't Punt Me Bro is going to have a hell of a roster if they make it in + don't get any injuries (that bench is pretty weak). I wish I took a dive on Beckham earlier, but I figured it was the same old retarded Giants fans just blindly touting whatever player they think is hot that week.
|
I'm a Giants fan and I've been tracking OBJ closely since the draft.
I just didn't believe in Eli.
|
I think I picked up OBJ a week before he was supposed to come back just because I had the room to take a shot on a guy. I like Sammy Watkins for the same reasons I like OBJ, they are so incredibly athletic and skilled catching the football that it would take some strange things to occur for them to just be awful, even being rookies. Of course Cruz getting injured expedited the process for OBJ becoming a major role in the offense.
I am as far from an Eli fan as one can be but OBJ just doesn't even seem to notice - hell if Eli throws it in a 10-15 foot radius around OBJ there is a good chance he's going to come down with it.
My bench is weak and I play QQ next week who I think should still be fighting for a spot with a solid team so it's possible I don't even make it in depending on how things shake out. Although if I do make it, I have a decent WW spot to use in case of major injury but if it's PFM or another RB (RIP Bradshaw) that goes down I am fucked.
|
Word. Yeah eli's been on the money with him, dropping it in an area only he can get it. I wonder what that team looks like with a healthy cruz and a non-shit defense/lines. With Cruz back, defenses will absolutely have to pick a safety to help out on him or Beckham and that opens up so much even without them having a legitimate te to stretch that seam
|
Yeah I'm excited for next year if Cruz can recover in time.
Hopefully everyone can stay healthy.
|
I just hope the giants don't overreact and blow up this team after this shitty season. There is potential here. Fire fewell, and get some upgrades at defensive line and offensive line and we should be good to go. Why the fuck is kiwanuka still starting. He's turned into a garbage ass
|
Also I was about to pick up obj before the falcons game but was too late and punt beat me to it. Got him in most others though
|
I don't understand how Kiwanuka has managed to start at all in the last 5 years, let alone this past year. He's just really mediocre to me. Doesn't do anything particularly well or bad. He's a perfect example of a guy you want as a back up and not much more. He's a very average pass rushing lb, he doesn't do well in coverage, isn't anything special in the run game.
|
Possibly quite an exciting game today, I'm up roughly 8 points over Soumanly (Holy shit we both suck). I have Drew Brees left and he has Steve Smith Sr and Justin Tucker
|

|
Yeah that's the dud of the week haha. I'm torn on who to root for. Soumanly losing means I've got a good shot at a bye. Him winning means one less person biting my heels for the last spot.
This is just based on tonight's projections (which can obviously change a few games), but we may see this scenario tomorrow morning:
* Tonight (9-3): Solar * Hawk (7-5): Bloodninja * Mermen (7-5): xdaunt * Soumanly (7-5): Blackfish Punt (6-6): Woody Woody (6-6): Punt Zerg (6-6): Swede Swede (6-6): Zerg Blackfish (5-7): Soumanly Solar (5-7): Tonight xdaunt (4-8): Mermen Bloodnina (4-8): Hawk
7-5 people are all in since the four 6-6 teams all play each other, with the winners of those games locking in.
Here's the scenario if the projected results the close games tonight (tonight vs zerg, Soumanly vs swede) are inaccurate the leader loses:
* Tonight (8-4): Solar * Soumanly (8-4): Blackfish * Hawk (7-5): Bloodninja * Mermen (7-5): xdaunt Punt (6-6): Woody Woody (6-6): Punt Zerg (6-6): Swede Blackfish (5-7): Soumanly Solar (5-7): Tonight Swede (5-7): Zerg xdaunt (4-8): Mermen Bloodnina (4-8): Hawk
Pretty similar. Anyone 7-5 or better is in and just fighting for seed. Punt/Woody is a win and in. Zerg is a win and in. The main difference is that 5-7 can get in if they win and get help. Zerg would need to lose vs swede, and the 5-7 people who won would need to have the PF tie breaker.
|
Thanks for the rundown Hawk. I was much too lazy to try and figure it out myself.
Well, I control my own destiny...all you can really hope for going into the final regular season week.
GLHF Woody
|
I have to say, it has been a helluva season. You guys are hardcore.
|
I honestly can't believe I still have a chance. This is one of the most competitive leagues I've been in even though its for less cash. Everyone manages their rosters well and is on top of everything.
|
For those fighting for the bottom spot, here's the point differential for those positions. (I added the current projected points, so this is subject to change)
Punt: 1180.49 Woody: 1098.74 Blackfish: 1074.04 Solar: 1072.45 Zerg: 1050.12 Swede: 1033.5
If you are not in playoff position currently, you need the following to happen):
1) Swede loses this week (Currently leading 60.50 - 52.16. He has Brees; Soumanly has S. Smith and Justin Tucker). If he wins, this whole post means nothing! The last two spots will go to the winner of Woody/Punt and Zerg/Swede
2) Swede beats Zerg next week. If he wins, he is 7-6, and so will the winner of Woody/Punt, meaning 6th place needs 7 wins.
3) Punt beats Woody (otherwise punt will surely have the highest PF for 6-7 teams)
4) Win
5) Have more points than the rest of the 6-7 teams fighting for the final playoff spot
|
Well, Daunt, you put up a hell of a fight there at the end. 55 pts from Forsett and the Buffalo D god damn
|
So ithink I am eliminated with Swede winning.

Yup the four 6-6 teams are all paired off with each other, with the winners getting the final two spots. Not sure why yahoo doesn't show the people above as locked when they clearly are. But yeah, everyone still in the hunt can finish anywhere from 2 seed to 6 seed. Tonight has his bye locked.

What changes were you guys thinking of? I'll most likely be back next year since I am missing FF despite my bitchy ass post a few weeks ago. Job stress >>>> me (then & now as I procrastinate more from work).
Edit: Reading back the last few pages...Fu hawk. I'd be down for whatever changes. Maybe we try an IRC (or skype?) meeting at the end of the season to discuss everything? Or we put all of the suggestions in and just vote on them individually? As per the INT critique, we went back to pretty much standard scoring since a few people bitched about them after the draft and not realizing they were changed in past seasons. -___- (HAWK)
I personally dislike IDP. Down for penalizing QB INT more, adding in PPR, and changing up the defensive scoring some more. We could also migrate from Yahoo if people want but then we'd lose all the historical information from that league.
I also think there's enough people who have played in the past 3 years each time to justify a keepers league in addition to a one off league though I think the keeper league should have a higher buy-in (maybe the buy-in for the keeper would pay for 2 or 3 seasons? Or adding in a deposit...something to ensure people stay, even if it is a small amount monetary)

waiver: FAAB (strongly recommended)
roster: Add another flex or a super flex (we're too shallow at 12 teams right now). I'm also open to an even bigger roster expansion if there is any appetite for IDPs and whatnot.
scoring: 0.5 PPR (strongly recommended) Defense scoring changes: yards allowed should be a factor. Passing: INTs should be penalized more heavily.
I also wanted to change the draft to auction but I don't think these guys are open to it. I would be happy if we can implement just FAAB and 0.5 PPR.
|
Yeah awesome. I'm down with a meeting at the end of the season and voting on changes.
|
I am down with meeting too to discuss potential changes.
|
Well, this was just one of those seasons for my team where fate conspired against me. Burning my No. 1 pick on AP and eating an average of nearly 100 points per week from my opponents is pretty damned hard to overcome. I still threw up 93 points per week (would have been more had I not botched my week 1 lineup), which is a damned respectable showing all things considered. Oh, what could have been!
|
I'm down with having a IRC meeting so I can bag on dk live vs waiting for him to read posts about me shitting on him
Three things are certain in life, folks: Death, Taxes, and DK fucking up things somehow!
ilu play again next year
|
I can probably find time for a meeting as well. If not I will put a couple of my thoughts here:
Like: FAAB Increasing roster size a slot or two. Changing flex to RB/WR/TE (and potentially adding another flex spot). Penalizing INTs more
Unsure/Undecided: D/ST Scoring changes. This would defend on the proposal. I don't like penalizing yardage given up, but would be willing to adjust other scoring factors. PPR (I haven't thought a lot about it)
Against: Auction Draft. I want to join an auction league, but would prefer this one to remain a standard draft. Keeper League. Again not opposed to joining a keeper league, just would prefer this one remain as it stands. IDP. I've never been a huge fan of IDP.

Auction draft online is bogus. I disagree with expanded rosters also. That's all for now.
|
I think the most important changes that need to be made is faab budget and make the league ppr. Also add 1 or 2 bench slots. Make flex include running backs... Auction draft I could go either way at this point.
|
I don't think the bench needs to be bigger. People should have to choose who to keep or not and not be able to just sit on players an entire year hoping for injury or something else to happen.
|

No FAAB, no PPR.
Changing QB scoring (6 per TD, -2 per Int) and obviously making FLEX W/R/T should be considered. Also, giving players an extra point for big games (+1 point for 150 rushing/receiving yards, +1 point for over 350 passing yards) might be okay.
Bench space... wouldn't mind one more spot, nothing more, but don't care either way. Another FLEX spot... absolutely not. IDP, probably not. Keeper's, no. Auction draft, no. Defensive scoring changes, willing to consider.
|
I'm not a huge fan of +6 for tds, but I support -2 for ints

I personally am not a fan of this. I have played in a couple leagues that rewarded big plays/big games and didn't really like it. I basically won on of these leagues in 2007 by drafting Brady who spent that season heaving TDs to Randy Moss. There were multiple weeks where Brady+1 was enough to beat the other team in itself.

Traditionalist here. People can create a FAAB/Auction/whatever league for what I care but the normal TL league should remain as it is with a few changes (FLEX changes etc).

So seeding is determined: 1. Tonight 2. Mermen 3. Soumanly 4. Hawk 5. Woody 6. Swede
which means:
Hawk/Woody v Tonight
Mermen v Soumanly/Swede

Seeding isn't determined yet. Unless Miami D scores close to 20 points against the Jets I'm gonna be 5th seed, you'll be third and Woody will be 4th.

I have never seen a distribution of point totals so close at the end of the regular season before.

gl Woody, Frank Gore will lead me to victory for once by scoring 30points against the Raiders.

I'm annoyed at myself. Last week while looking for a TE, I forgot I stupidly put a waiver claim in as a reminder to myself to pick up Dwane Allen after waivers since no one would get him since he was injured. I forgot to take it off and blew my waiver spot, and now I missed out on Reed. Now I'm stuck hoping he plays, or that Tim WRight has one of his good weeks.

Woulda been okay with giving most points scored during reg season some money since it sucks when someone has an amazing team and they don't even make playoffs, but I don't really care for giving #1/#2 in the regular season money since they're already rewarded with a Bye. At least this season you are #1 and have the most points scored, so it ends up the same either way, but next season we should consider changing it or removing it all together.
I also don't believe in reading before signing stuff. That'd be like telling me to read a ToS before Agreeing to it. Not happenin' brah.

So I was going over some of my fantasy stuff and realized that I had atrocious luck this year in some leagues. I'm in last for PA in two leagues, and in the bottom 3 in two more. What the fuck:
TL. 7-6; 3rd. PF - 4th; PA - 12th 10 man league. 7-6; 5th (I need to win to get in); PF - 3rd; PA - 5th 10 man league. 7-6; T-4th (I need a win to get in); PF - 2nd; PA - 9th. This one really sucks because I started 6-1 and had a huge lead. Then I lost 5 in a row after bumping into the high score of the week several times in a row. 12 man league. 4-9; T-12th; PF - 11th; PA - 10th 12 man league. 2-11; 12th; PF - 10th; PA - 12th. The worst part about this one is there is a 5 way tie for 2-6. One of the teams tied is 12th in PF and 1st in PA. I almost have 500+ pts more than him in PA.
Usually every year I draft a couple of the same players in different leagues. Sometimes this works real well. This year, idiots like McCoy, Vernon Davis, Garcon, Michael Floyd, etc killed me. Especially since this year I went hard on WRs in most leagues. So I essentially bombed on my first RB, and then wasted a bunch of other high picks on starters.
|
McCoy is looking much better the last 3+ weeks. I have him in my 12 man league.
|
Yeah he is, but he cost me so man ygames in the beginning of the year.

Eh I got a lot of injures. Marhsall is apparently dead. That looked painful. The safety basically kneed him right in the ribs while running full speed
My WR depth is suddenly looking like shit. Marshall might have a spleen injury and be toast for the year. Roddy White is gimpy again. MIchael Floyd's still on milkboxes. Randle is just kind of meh and isn't producing despite Backham getting drawing doubles with the top corner.

... I'm started to get worried that I might lose this game... never mind, I have it. But wow! My bears are doing there best to lose this game for me. I can't believe it took me to the 4th quarter to lock down this game
|
So I'm in a tight matchup in a league of mine. I've got Ingram and Bennett, my opponent has Cutler and Stills. Both of us are almost neck and neck starting the game, so I'm at a pretty severe projected disadvantage, but I'm okay with that cause I figured Cutler would choke.
And he did, but Stills gets a TD and puts him slightly ahead. I'm okay with that though, because the Saints are rolling, so they're going to hand Ingram the ball more. Except Ingram keeps going backwards.....
With 2 minutes left to go, my opponent has 2 points more than me, I figure all is lost. Suddenly the Bears fail their 4th down conversion, and suddenly I have some hope. If Ingram can get me some yards, I could pull out a win. First down he gets 4 yards. Second down he gets another 4. I need him to not just get to the third down marker, but get another 15 yards or so, and I'd have it. AND HE SCORES!!!!! Suddenly I have a 6 point advantage. With less than 2 minutes left and the Bears offense looking like garbage (plus having Bennett which is a decent target for Cutler), I feel like I'm in a great spot. He'd have to roll down the entire field and throw a TD to win it, basically, and he'd have to do it to anyone but Bennett.
Then Cutler rolls down the field and scores. GG me. Oh, yea, I actually would have won if Ingram just stopped and took a knee at the 1 yard line to guarantee a win right then and there. Like, you know, he should have done..... But yea, gotta go and get a TD.....
http://i.imgur.com/hRqSY6M.png
The worst part is that I was so close to benching Morris for Hill this week, cause I was afraid they wouldn't give him as big of a share of carries as they have in the past (which is exactly what happened). And of course Hill has to have the highest RB score of the week. And on top of that, I actually have Brees as well as Luck. I knew that Brees had the better matchup, but I figured there was no way Luck could have a bad game vs Houston, so I started him.
|
When I emerge victorious from battle with woody, I shall unleash a wave of gifs and shit posting the likes of which this board has never seen before
My waiver wire pick ups were killer this year. Ne-D, Carpenter, finished inside the top 6 for their position, and Rivers was top 12. He also basically carried my team early on when Brady was MIA.
|
Oh man. Cutler is benched!!!! FOR THE FINALS!
|
What, WHAT?
Edit: oh god, I'm going to cry! In my other league, with over $250 on the line, I have both Cuttler and D. Murray. Oh Fantasy football, what a cruel mistress you are.
|
hahah that's brutal luck. I don't want to laugh too much, lest Flacco stomps me out to the tune of 5 tds or something.
|
Hahah. I am in the finals of my main league with 1k on the line. My opponent had jay cutler but is now forced to start rg3 hahahhahaha
|
Crap, I forgot there was a game this Saturday. Damn, RG3 sucks.

|
That double sucked since I am a Niners fan. Fuck they are disappointin this year.
At least RG3 balanced out gate's points. Brady better top 27 pts since I started him over Rivers.

Well the good news for me is that playing RG3 over Flacco is looking more and more like the right call ...
|
Cheering so hard for the Pats but fuck, do not want Brady to score at all.
|
|
Seeing Brady take those knees were so great. Another -.2 here, another -.2 there for Hawk. ; ]

What an interesting season this has been for me.
Start off the season with some shitty luck and teams average 104 points against for the first 5 weeks. Then go .500 for the rest of the regular season (4-4) and span the full spectrum of getting blown out (102 - 60) to blowing out someone myself (162 - 82).
Playoffs start and squeak by a crappy win vs Solar. Now I am on pace to win the consolation bracket unless serious shenanigans ensue.

Yahoo just called it. I (The QQ's) won the 2014 TL fantasy football Championship! ... I need a gif for this.
Hawk's reaction to Brady now. + Show Spoiler +
|
I have dishonored myself. GG. Fucking shit balls.
LOOK AT ALL THE POINTS ON MY BENCH!. I knew I should have had the nads to start L. Murray and beat you with your own dude. Man this loss is made even wose by having all my studs collapse at the wrong time
|
I'm so glad you rejected my trade, Gate for Gordon. That trade would of ended my season. With Cutler (and by extension Bennett) out, this would of been a very sad Championship match up.
I was hoping/prying Brady would play like he did at the start of season. It was a Christmas miracle. But really, what a messy finals this happen to be.
|
I'll send the money out Tuesday/Wednesday. In a little bit, start discussing plans for next season (i.e., both another 12 team league and perhaps a dynasty league)?
|
Man it's been a fun ride.
Congratz to woody for pulling off the (slight) upset!
|
Yeah I would ahve still made the finals doing that trade, so really, it would have been the difference maker. Boooo
|
Gratz to Woody!
Had fun this year boys, looking forward to it again next year

So what kind of interest is there in a dynasty league? I would be down to try it, but probably not if it means having another TL league in addition since I'm already in like five fucking leagues haha. I really kind of want to trim that down this year, but I don't see how. Two I've been doing for about a decade now, and this one's been a while too.
|
I was like .4 points away from third. Disgusting.

If this happens I might be interested! I posted something in the NFL thread but no one cared to answer. Sorry for the bump. Just thought it would be fun to do fantasy with some TLers.
|
I'd be down in making the change if there were more interest.
Speaking of, it's probably about time to start bugging people to register no?
|
If it's going to be dynasty, the conversation needs to start now, yeah.
For re-draft, too early to start I think.

fuck doing dynasty. too much turnover with TL fantasy for it to be viable.
i'm keen to play again this year (although i'll be in korea for the season, don't think it will affect my availability unless the draft is done while i'm on the plane there or something)

I'm down for another run after last year's disaster. Besides, I need to something to root for given how bleak the outlook for the Niners is.

LET'S PICK DATES PEOPLE

Well if Dk doesn't actually wanna play in the league it's probably better to have someone else create it and collect money.
Otherwise tonight will end up with a team that's better than he intended it to be.
|
DK said he was going to play this year.
|
Oh wow time sure flies.
It's that time of the year again guys.
|
Ooooooooooo. I'll do it again. We going to resort to defaults? Limit of 12? I'll make a thread for the new season in a few days. Pretty busy with work right now.

the format we had last year seemed fine? don't see any need to change from that. re dates: anything before 22nd august works for me. i'm unsure when i'll be free once i land in korea.

Uhm can we do RB/WR/TE for Flex instead of just WR/TE?

Can we vote on some of the proposed changes before we set the league up this time though?

First place gets to choose last place teams name for the year.
