Basically the start to the fall of Tubberville. that was 2004. 2002 was Ohio State over Miami. 2003 was BCS LSU champs USC AP Champs. 2004 USC drops a turd on Oklahoma and Auburn goes undefeated but has to settle for sugar bowl the funny story about that Auburn team is that the boosters basically tried to pull a coup and get Tubberville ousted and replaced by a younger but still scummy Bobby Petrino. People apparently tracked the flight of a booster's private jet going back and forth between Auburn and Louisville and broke the news which made it all fall apart. Tubberville responded with an undefeated season https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2014/1/9/5288648/bobby-petrino-louisville-scandal-timeline Another funny one is that Tubberville was running for Alabama governor. They asked him why any Alabama fans would ever vote for him being an Auburn coach. He said "if it wasn't for me they would have never gotten Saban." lol the running game on that auburn team though was so dirty. Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams were so good that their 3rd string RB had to transfer to get playing time. Their 3rd stinger was Brandon Jacobs

Ohio St over Miami. That was the year Clarett as a sophomore tried to leave and they fucked his life up by saying no, even though there wasn't a rule at the time. Miami shit on Nebraska the previous year in the BCS game, but then again, we probably didn't really deserve to be there. Those are some good stories and I think Tuberville had that Iron Bowl rivalry on lock for a long time. He was a good coach imo. But then again, I never really closely followed anything south of the Dixie. He was the first SEC team I rooted for.

Everything in that article can be leveled at any college football player since then. That happens all the time to star players, minus the personality issues. I think if he had been able to go pro, he could have turned his life around. Now he's just a disgrace to himself. I'm not saying what he did prior to trying to get into the League was right nor typical. But I think that, like the NBA, if a player is ready, he's ready and should have been allowed to enter. I stand corrected that there wasn't a rule in place at the time.

We produce good players. But we can't get that coaching hire that will take us to the next level.
