Some of the Spurs innovation: 1. Going double centers when the league was dominated by hyper-athletic 2s and 3s 2. Bringing in unknown Euro/nonAmerican players as a standard MO while everyone focused on college players 3. Emphasis on 3 and D, especially corner 3 while the league run heavy iso 4. The league adjusts and embraces the 3, and not the Spurs revert back to heavy midrange production and old school bball. I hope DD and LA get their ring with SAS!

Any how, if Derozan has a good playoffs this year... that'll be a first. The Celtics now have a -12.9 net rating since the All-Star break with Al Horford on the bench. There is a candle-light vigil at Jurassic-Park / Maple-Leaf-Square for Danny Green's injured left thumb. He is having an MRI on it today.

What Colangelo did was not a mistake. He went on a media tour in an attempt to damage Bosh's reputation. The owners of the Raptors were the owners of all the media outlets Colangelo used. Fan590 Radio, SportsNet, TSN, and several other Rogers owned media outlets. Bosh's personal DRs who were looking out for his long term health determined there was too much structural damage for him to play. The Raptors team DRs, via Colangelo, stated the damage was "not excessive enough" to require a long rest and Colangelo personally declared Bosh medically fit to play. He has looked bad and I can understand this exaggerated emotional response. However, its really hard to compare Lin to a guy who plays a completely different position .. like say Malcolm Miller. I would say Lin is the 6th best guard on the team. I'd rank the guards like this... 1. Lowry 2. Green 3. Van Vleet 4. Powell 5. Mccaw 6. Lin Maybe Lin is better than Loyd. Its hard to say because he plays so little and I only watched 15 or so Raptors G-League games this year. So, I guess i can't say for sure who is better between Loyd and Lin. When Jeremy Lin got here I thought he'd be a better play maker than Powell and Mccaw. Boy, was I wrong. True, Lin should only be compared to other guards. I don't think I'm exaggerating, I think a lot of people are very unhappy with him and think his game is sub par. Here is what Sahal Abdi said about Lin regarding last night's game. "Lin didn’t get much of a chance to make a mark, but do you truly blame Nurse for that? Lin’s looked like a non-NBA player for the majority of his Raptors tenure. Tonight wasn’t much different. He didn’t negatively stand out, but was almost a ghost — having little to no impact on the game itself. Ugh." source : https://www.raptorsrepublic.com/2019/04/01/quick-reaction-magic-109-raptors-121/ I think the Raptors entire offense is predicated on very, very smart point guard play. Lin is not on Lowry or VanVleet's BBIQ level. Not even close. I mean look at him when he's in play, he looks positively overwhelmed most of the time.

It goes back to our previous conversation. You can do lots of things right and still not succeed all the time.

Last year it was 3 free chicken tenders from Popeyes. That got abused hardcore. People were getting 9 or 12 tenders in 1 day. Its no surprise they cancelled that promo. Popeye's chicken is pretty high quality and pretty expensive.

Russell Westbrook has achieved a double-triple-double (20 points, 20 rebounds and 21 assists) Only other player to do this was Wilt Chamberlain on Feb 2, 1968

When will this peak? This is the future of the NBA unless there comes a team with peak Shaq + Kobe + Kidd combo who can dominate the paint and midrange and run like hell to maximize possessions. Otherwise, its really simple match 3>2, and with higher volume and efficiency, it becomes evil not to include mass 3s in a teams arsenal. Bold prediction, 3-5 years from now, the best teams will be comical mass long range 3 point shooting with very high accuracy. Shooting is the easiest to master among basketball skills, compared to hops, athleticism, and moves. So with kids now growing up watching Lillard, Curry, KD, and Irving casually launching way beyong the arc, and with better technology and sports science, the long range shot will only become more common and necessary.

A big one would be allowing hand checking on Defense I think the opposite will happen. Moving the line farther will only weed out bad shooters and reward those who are already good long range shooters and will encourage new ones. Net effect is more more more long range 3s. I fear the day, although I know its coming sooner than later, where 60/100 possession is full court D and the offense shoots 45-50% from beyond the 3 just within 10 seconds. Hand checking, yes. Although Harden will absolutely kill handcheckers if fouls rules are not changed.
