This is pretty cool, since LA community was divided... and there is almost no impact for NA players.

I wish we could see such an innovative idea put into place... Reckon it has been tried yet? Crazy talk.

Also was not aware there was a russian server, all the russian/ukrainian gosus played on EU most of the time right? nah, the Taiwanese always wanted their server to be merged with the Koreans since their server is also located in korea

Q. How will this affect my matchmaking rating (MMR)? Will I need additional placement matches? A. Your MMR will be unaffected by region linking. Placement matches will be handled the same way for the start of Season 3 as they were for Season 2. I really wonder about this. It's unlikely that a specific MMR corresponds to the same skill level on the different servers, because the players haven't faced each other before. This means that there has to be some sort of adjustment when the ladders are joined. Maybe even a painful adjustment (loss streak) for some players.

We will have to start from scratch our MMR

I'd imagine you'll surely just be placed where your mmr is appropriate? Like, if as many people say LA is roughly a league behind NA in terms of skill, you'll probably end up in the league below, or lower in the league you're in now... so high dia LA will become high plat/low dia NA+LA. The quote seems to imply that.

I don't know if it will turn out well though. I rarely have problems searching for players to match against. I'm confused as to whether you match up against players in LA on NA or you can share customs with them, chat channels, friends, etc. The way I'm reading it: A KR version of the game still connects to the KR servers, while a TW version still connects to the Taiwan servers. It's just the servers that are linked. Which means that if you buy a TW account, and use it from the US, you are connecting to a server in Taiwan, which in turn relays traffic to korea. I'm guessing a US - TW connection is worse in terms of latency then a US - KR. Or am I wrong here? (Same logic would hold for EU/RU and NA/LA. Which means that it is probably beneficial to own a copy of the game in your own region, latency wise, because the connection from server to server is likely to be better then when you connect to a far away server on your own.)
