She absolutely does not need a pro team to get to a masters level on the Korea server. Even as a B team gamer on SlayerS, how is she going to provide others with meaningful practice at that level? I understand that Diamond Korean means a lot more compared to the NA server diamond, but compared to the SlayerS players, how is that meaningful practice for the other players? Once she gets to a certain point, then I have no issue with her being recognized as a good player and being picked up. That is the thing, though, this isn't about helping SlayerS win matches, this is about promoting females in StarCraft 2. She has potential, so practicing with SlayerS is going to make her much better much faster and get her a lot of exposure. And remember, Nada said that the reaper strategy he used in this season of GSL was something he picked up from a Diamond player. So, she can still contribute to the team. However, for the first little while, until her skills are up to snuff, this is definitely about SlayerS being used as a platform for the advancement of women in esports, and I think that is totally rad.

Yet you find it fitting to come here and start with insults spew random shit you don't know anything about. You accuse her of acting too dramatic? Read your own post... Don't you think that might be over the line? Don't you think that people like you should think before writing on TL? She cares about her players, she cares that she is able to entertain and provide good games for the whole foreign and Korean community. You? You don't have the decency to try... People should learn to be respectful. Sadly, this is the internet, where being respectful and mannered is often shunned because you can hide behind the walls of anonymity. in either case. It was stupid for him to say that "jessica is a joke" but his opinions are completely valid. Posting that he is an idiot or douche or whatever or fighting about it is pretty dumb unless you are actually addressing specific points in his post.

She's protecting her players from a ruthless environment. I understand your argument but I would suggest you do more reading on the internet culture in Korea. It's unlike anything we have here in the West. It's more than just that Eve was female, that's not the point of her retaliation. It's the pictures and the severity of them. The whole culture itself is very different ( I don't expect everyone to know that) and public image is enormous in Korea. So pictures like that and comments like the ones written have a much larger impact than it might in teh US or Canada. It may seem hard to believe but the basic core structure of society functions very differently in Asia and Korea specifically. So yes, what happened to Eve was atrocious and yet it deserved action. No, not because she's a woman, but because she's a professional Starcraft II player. The thing is, when you say you recruited a player partially because she is "pretty," you are bringing some of the criticism upon yourself. If you recruit a male player because he looks handsome, you bet that a ton of people are going to be commenting on his sexuality and criticize him if he isn't a top notch player - This is not to say that Eve deserved all the negative backlash - She did not at all. But I think people should separate constructive criticism and crazy hate mail. I am still going to support SlayerS, Eve, and Jessica because they are all awesome and working hard - but I think women in e-sports will grow organically - IT ALREADY HAS if you haven't noticed main stream gaming websites. Either way, it takes guts to make this move, and I have huge respect for them. I hope she proves me wrong and becomes an amazing player.

( from her own OP ) when it isn't... the OP herself makes it seem as if they aren't equal...when they are...

That's ridiculous, what does being female have to do with being good or bad? I mean I know a few female players who are masters and masters itself isn't THAT hard to get into. She is acting way too dramatic, and I dunno why she is trying to control the internet, its never going to change. If you can't handle criticism then don't try to be famous/known. I can't express enough how ignorant over half the shit she said was. You clearly missed the warning at the top of the page. Plus she is talking about the KOREAN ladder, master there is far more hard to get than with the "easy" NA ladder. True that. Everything i hear is that our master's league players are plat/gold level on the KR. That said, i'm happy that Jessica is doing what she feels is necessary to protect her own. I probably not do the same thing here in the US if placed in the same spot, but that might be totally appropriate there. Bottom line is that Eve is a slayer's player, and right or wrong, Jessica is supposed to give her the things she needs to be a better pro, including protecting her real life if necessary. What we have to remember here also is that the rules of engagement protocols are much different from guys to girls(and an underaged girl at that). We should be more respectful and tactful to each other but especially to women if we want to grow esports beyond what it is now. Being underaged throws a whole new aspect of it, and we would be best to show some discernment in what we do. You learn very fast when you start becoming a professional in whatever field you choose, you must be very, very careful in what you post, email, etc. One false step can end your career or change your life drastically. Once you hit "send" or "post" you can never really take it back. SlayerS and eSports fighting!

=X I just see that there aren't many female gamers playing at the highest level. Something radical needs to be done... and now we have a female player with a decent track record and with a certain potential that SlayerS have noticed in her. Finally, one of the best teams in the world will be giving a female player the best possible coaching and practice environment... something unprecedented in SC2. Of course, the fact that she is attractive is a huge bonus because as the skilled player that I believe that she will become, Eve will become a role model for any younger female fans: with enough dedication you can become an eSports star. The media in Korea is also incredibly shallow and that someone who not only looks "normal" but good enough to have auditioned as an idol will go a great way of gaining interest in eSports. Eve being here is helpful for all of us fans of eSports. Funny. Her name is rather appropriate.

Travis, I see your point about how people respond in general, but with the warning at the top of the thread, the sensitivity of the situation, and then the opening line "lol slayers_jessica is a joke", i'm afraid i cannot help but see him as a bad, bad person. sorry for insulting him without justifying my opinion.
