Whenever you hit post in this thread, think long and hard. Are you showing the proper amount of respect? If that is not the case, do not hit the post button. |
Very well written. Thanks for your side of the story.
Not completely on topic but i think this needs to be said: Defamation and slander should not go unpunished just because its over the internet. Nobody would ever say it's an overreaction if people gathered on the streets to publicly insult a person who hasn't done anything and carrying highly offensive banners. Police would be there arresting people in a matter of minutes.

Damn, she really was in gold / diamond !! This is just total bullshit, sorry to say.. but isn't a "PROGAMING TEAM" suppposed to be filled with progamers? Not with noobs? And than she states it's difficult to reach masters? She should be raping masters before even joining a team like slayers.

Hello, good morning!
Progamers are gamers who play as a profession. She plays as a profession, therefore she's a progamer.
I hope I've cleared your doubts.
Have a nice day :3

Plus the ladder was locked, she's going to be in Masters when they let out the next season. Seriously Beef, you gotta read.

It's an honor to have Jessica post in here, and everything she said is absolutly clear.
As a little e-sport fan, I love Slayers and I'm proud of their move until now !

We all know a substantial part of the SC2 community is composed of chauvinistic man-children. On behalf of all the real men out there, I wish Eve the best of luck. I like women, I like Starcraft 2, and combining the two can only beget further awesomeness.

All progamers start off as noobs.

The rules according to you.

So great you came here to show us your side, people jump to conlcusions very fast when we get big news on this site! I hope you can ignore the hate and just keep on keepin on Jessica-Seonsaeng!
Who thinks being Diamond in Korea is easy...............

ty for posting here jessica. i think you are doing the right thing.
so yeah slayers fighting!
|
jessica is being honest.
It has been less than a month since Eve joined the team. She was not selected through the pro-gamer casting system, but she is someone I selected for the team to help start having female competitors in Starcraft 2, after seeing that she had sufficient potential.
there's no harm in that. but i think the drama about sexual harrassment has gone overboard. there is no limit to the amount of bigotry and offensive harrassment on the internet, once you get into the spotlight you become a bigger target.
this is always going to the case, trying to stop this is fighting a losing battle. you just need to be mentally strong and ignore the crap. you can't protect against everything, those with thick skin will go far in this hostile environment.

Who are you to say when or not you should be allowed to join a team? If slayers wanted to add a bicycle riding monkey, they could do that since well its their team. Ppl acting like they are the boss with the "x shouldn't join y team because of z" is dumb.

Well unless I missed something at the end of the last thread, the issue was never that Jessica was retaliating against flamers/trolls, the issue was that she apparently attacked pretty much anyone who said anything negative against the acquisition of Eve, including those who had valid concerns (such as her only being recruited due to her looks, etc.)
By all means, sue the trolls, but if you start suing people for disagreeing with you, that's crossing a line you never should.

QFT. The "Anonymous"/4chan schtick of crying out "but this is the Internet!" to defend what amounts to harassment has, unfortunately, grown to be a philosophy for some: defamation, harassment, and slander are seen to be excusable if they happen online. I would submit that people with such views are making a classic philosophical error, letting "what is" substitute for "what should be."
It *is* easy to slander, harass, etc, online and get away with it. It's hard to get on TV, or have an article printed in a newspaper, or to write a book, but tweeting anonymously is a two step process. Combine this with a juvenile understanding of the first amendment and the belief that the first amendment protects malicious speech with intent (it doesn't), or the idea that first amendment is the only reasonable Western stance on speech, and you get people who believe in the "thick skin" doctrine: harassment happens, get over it. Some of these people don't even understand that harassment is actually crime (albeit a minor one), or if they do, do not understand why it is a crime.
I would submit that the only moral way to move through the world is to focus on "should be," with a healthy dose of reality to keep one's expectations in line. People without thick skins *should* be able to exist without constant fear of emotional distress. Not everyone should have to become ironic, pessimistic assholes to survive the online experience. And this shouldn't require heavy policing, but just self-control on the part of the participants.
It's a dream, but it's not an unreasonable one. On a one-to-one basis, we expect that type of behavior in our interactions with others. There's no reason we suddenly stop online.
TL;DR. Needless to say, I empathize with Jessica and Slayers on this. Hopefully she has luck in stopping the harassment of Eve.

Thank you for your clarification post Jessica ( also most of it was already rumored around the forum). Hope you will post here more frequently and gl to you/your team and ofc to Eve.

Just to add my voice to say thank you for taking the time to write - the work you do in protecting your players and the excellent management you provide.
Please don't let the bad get you down - so much of the community is in support of you, eve and BoxeR.
We will always be in support of you :D Good luck!!
