Have fun duplicating any form of this. You honestly speak as if you haven't heard how flipping insane BW crowds get.

Calling it now, Jaedong, Jangbi, Fantasy and Bisu were invited to showcase Blizzard's new PvP in the upcoming MMO "Titan."
In all seriousness, as much as I don't think it will happen I hope they are there for some BW showmatches and not as a marketing tool for Blizzard to further promote SC2 to Korean audiences.
You know, it'd be pretty fun if they played SC2:BW, the custom map, with all the control group restrictions and anti-MBS. Some fun show matches bridging the old and the new, I know that's not the case, but would still be very cool.

The more I think about it, the more I think top BW players playing SC2 would be good news for BW fans. KeSPA fucking loathes SC2. If they're okay with Blizz getting a PR coup like that, then Blizz probably gave them something pretty big. With both EG and Quantic Gaming hyping big announcements, I'm starting to wonder if there isn't actually something more going on. Though those are probably coincidences.
I really am starting to believe Blizz agreed to support BW if KeSPA agreed to support SC2. And there's no reason for fans of either game to be unhappy about that. Ebony and Ivory living in harmony, etc.
Most of us will be interested to see them play the new game.
Certainly. It would be interesting indeed to see what truly top notch mechanics can do with a game like SC2. Of course, if they haven't played enough SC2 to have some familiarity and skill at the game it might be uninteresting. Basically, if they have played some and have a good idea how the game is played this would be pretty awesome, if not, not so much.
Its a new age and current esports needs them to transfer over.
Not convinced here. SC2 doesn't really need this, and it would be a pretty brutal blow to BW if several of the absolute top switched over.
Pretty disappointed in alot of you BW guys though. The amount of BW > sc2 eliteism/snobbery in this thread is depressing. Normally I think BW group does a pretty solid job of quality posting, but when it comes to the mention of sc2, that seems to fall be the wayside.
I don't think there's a collective BW hive mind that tells BW elitists to go do things, but a lot of the responses were basically because people were speculating for no reason. I also don't think the elitism is overwhelming in the slightest.
There's nothing wrong with people saying they don't want to see Bisu/Jaedong/etc playing SC2. In fact, there's good reason to not want to watch it.
True elitism/snobbery would be if everyone in this thread said "Yeah, BW players gonna go roflstomp all of you SC2 noobies because BW is real game and you guys play fake".
I don't think anyone has made that comment yet, so it's pretty good, considering that the reaction could've been much worse.
On October 18 2011 05:43 Hesmyrr wrote: Even if they do play SC2, I really do not anticipate much skill difference at all. In fact if Blizzard invite any of current good SC2 pros as opponent, I will expect an roflstomp. SC1 and SC2 are fundamentally different RTS and I never understood why people think pro's skill will have perfect conversion rate; especially when one of their greatest weapons - mechanics - have less significance. Yes, there are tactical experience (which I guess is more important because from MLG I gander single engagement can be the game-decider) but those come over time.
Also I knew BW trolls were going to flame SC2 and take away our already rather debatable "moral superiority", heh.
How have people been flaming SC2? There are just people who don't want SC2 showmatches, and instead want BW.
There also might not be perfect conversion, but there's a reason why the Koreans, even though they were second rate mediocre players in competitive BW, are at the top of the game. And it's not just because their practice routines are a lot better than foreign routines.
Then what is the reason Koreans are better? Are you saying they have some innate ability encoded into their DNA that allows them to perform better at real-time-strategy games?
The point is that the Koreans have been better than us for a long time. Honestly, the practice routine probably has a lot to do with it, so I'll give you that.
I'm going to take the words of a friend whose philosophy is "once a baddy always a baddy". The foreign BW scene rarely had anyone in A rank on ICCup (and TSL 2 doesn't count), and the reason why is because in Korea, you had a bunch of players practicing for the Courage tournament to make a shot at all the pros. So don't even try comparing foreign BW with B teamers except in rare occasions.
So naturally, when SC2 comes out and all the B teamers who have better mechanics, game sense, tactics, etc switch over, it makes sense that the Koreans are owning us.
Also, to those saying: "Why don't you want pro-BW players playing SC2?"
The answer is rhetorical. Pro-BW players should play BW. It's what they're good at. Playing SC2 will lose all entertainment value outside of lolz. And that's not interesting either.
At least that's what it is for me. For me, I find no entertainment value watching SC2 (relatively) to BW. If other people want to whine about games, fine, but these are personal preferences that I'm sure is reflective of a lot of people who don't want to see them playing SC2.

Ask nada what happened when he played some sc2 at IEM gamescom :>
That was back when KeSPA and Blizzard were still in legal battle. Wasn't it rumored that Blizzard have been consulting with KeSPA on how to make HoTS more eSports friendly? This could be just one of the results of that, sending a couple of BW players to test out HoTS.

It is good to note that Bw fans are just as silly as Sc2 fans when it comes to their idols. Who sees news like this and their first thought is "Blizzard is going to force them to play a different computer game against their will".
Because Brood War pros aren't allowed to play other computer games for fun? I agree with the people who suggest that they may play some show matches in both games because they might just like both. If you play Call of Duty for 11 years and then Battlefield comes out, I think you'd try that before some completely different other game.
Anyway I'll be looking for some blogs detailing blizzcon experiences, anyone up for it?
HOW many people actually said "OH NO THEY'LL FORCE PEOPLE TO PLAY SC2?
How is that then suddenly cast as an umbrella statement for BW fans?

Less of this. This is why it's annoying when things are spotlighted, much as I like the news to be accessible. Please keep this opinion to yourself.

The future? Just.. no.
hahaha BW players in denial of the future
We're not in denial. There's good evidence to suspect that many BW players will never switch over. They'll go back to school. They'll do something else.
I mean, look at Yellow. He had a go at SC2. Then he went on to do some commercials for Poker.
I don't understand why people think BW pros switching is going to be inevitable. I don't think they'll all switch. I'll go with Sheep, who argues that Jaedong will probably never switch.
But if anything, it'll just feel good for a lot of us who have been saying that when the real pros switch over (I always shake my head when people say: OMG MC so pro), then they'll just show how dominant top BW players are compared with everyone else (and show you guys that what Intrigue wrote back then was 100% true).
Wasn't jangbi talking some time ago about trying to go for the golden mouse? I wouldn't be too worried about them(at the very least him) switching. In anycase, if they do, it's because they want it, not because evil blizzard is seducing them or anything like that. You guys say a lot that the BW scene is still alive and kicking, and how every a-teamer out there has a salary, how SC2 is not popular in korea, how bad SC2 is and still, the first posts of this thread are of people saying "I better hope they do not play SC2". If they do make a switch(and I don't think they will), it's because they want it. Stop thinking blizzard will invite them there and shove money up they asses and mindcontrol them into switching. Blizzard wants them playing SC2(it's obvious), and they are right for trying to do what's best for them. But ultimately who makes the decisions are the progamers, not blizz.
Goddammit. Why am I not in CA anymore .. oh well I'll just see the when the new PL season starts ^^.. also did anyone realize JD will be the only one without a uniform?
I'm pretty sure blizzard is trying to trick them into coming to the US, whereupon their arrival they will be charged with illegal use of intellectual property for profit and then given the choice to either switch to SC2 or be incarcerated.
No Flash makes me kinda sad but I love these 4 so it's all good Hopefully they'll show us some funny games, like offracing or 2v2. I don't care if they try sc2, because it'll all be for fun, I mean, at least HoTS single player campaign is definitely worth playing and I'm sure Jaedong will enjoy it.
