I've played the Korean full retail version last year for about 3 months. I quit after the Dark Awakening patch came out but I managed to hit maximum level (58). Here's my quick impression of the game: It’s simply a fantastic game. However, it is not flawless as it contains notable problems and flaws and there are rooms for improvement. But all in all, imo it is the best MMO that I’ve ever played.. Feel free to ask me about the game, class, race etc and I will try to answer to best of my knowledge! hows the econ

I loved every minute of the 2 hours today. The game is gorgeous and runs incredibly smooth, I have games that look worse than this that my computer struggles with but no framerate issues at all today. Animations in the game work really well, nothing that I have noticed seems clunky or out of place and things just make sense. An example is in the combat system, an attack has to physically collide with your character for you get hit, so you can see a mob begin to startup an attack animation and you can use your dodge ability, or move out the way and take no damage. I loved the combat too, it is a great and refreshing change to actually have to do something when you fight mobs, its so much fun that the fact that the quests are the standard run of the mill stuff is completely irrelevant to how much fun I am having. I played an archer today and I had a few skills by the time the test ended; the basic single target shot, a dodge, a multishot (up to 5 targets for about the same damage each as the single shot), an aimed shot with you can charge up to a couple seconds(more damage the longer you charge) which can do damage in a line if there are enemies lined up and I also had a trap spell which when triggered slowed enemies. I felt the targetting system was incredibly intuitive and I didn't notice any kinks or glitches with it. The way it works is that in the centre of the screen is a targeting reticule and you just point at whatever you want to shoot in the archer's case and press the buttons, in the case of the multishot spell I was quite impressed, because you choose each of the targets for the shot. When you hit the multishot button, your reticule changes color and you essentially 'highlight' the mobs you want to shoot, the click the mouse and you release the shot. Because you have a targeting reticule as the camera which is controlled by the mouse, you don't have a free roaming cursor like you do in the standard wow-esque mmo's, you move with wasd, left and right click were in my case the standard shot and the dodge. And to interact with things like say quest givers or to mine a rock or loot etcetc you press an interact key which was f for me. Obviously you will need to use the mouse at times though for shifting through your inventory and so and to do that you press a toggle button, which was the alt key. Character customisation was OK for me, personally I had no issues but I know a couple people wanted a bit more free reign. You have a good level of control over the head of your character, being able to change the usual colours and hair style and accessories etc, and also the bone structure of the various facial features using a bunch of sliders. For those of you completely out of the loop, there are 7 races: Humans, Castanics - sort of demon-esque elf-like people, seem a bit smaller in stature to humans Aman - pretty big horned creatures, kinda difficult to explain Elin - you can tell this game is made in east asia here, small female-only race, very cute, have animal tails and big eyes etc, think aegyo! Baraka - the other big guys, male only, I think they are essentially stone golems High-elf - standard elf really, tall, slim, effeminate Popori - male only animals, you can choose to have them resemble quite a variety of mammals; dog, cat, beaver, hamster, bunny whatever, very cute little guys :D and 8 Classes, with any race/class combo allowed: Warrior - An evasion tank/support dps role, have lots of support tools and ways to CC, dual wielding, there is a rumour that they are going to become full dps as nublets get confused and rage when they find out that the dual wield class can't compete with actual dps classes. Lancer - The standard tank, uses a big-ass lance and a shield, blocks attacks instead of dodges. Sorcerer - Ranged magical nuker, kinda self explanatory Archer - Ranged bow user, from what I've heard they don't do very well on the dps charts but have some good utility to them Slayer - Melee dps, weapon of choice is a ridiculously giant sword and not heavily armoured Berserker - Melee dps, massive axe-wielders and heavily armoured Priest - The 'best' dedicated healer but offers less support and buff/debuff options and utility than its counterpart the Mystic - The more support oriented healer, but is certainly more than good for grouping or w/e, don't worry that you would get kicked for a priest

The economy in Tera is fairly stable surprisingly. The inflation is kept pretty low and item redundancy or rarity do not occur occasionally. They did have a pretty big issue with the economy back in March/April though, apparently the developers didn't balance out the endgame drops/currency ratio properly and hyperinflation was set a due. However, they seemed to have fixed it since during the 3 months I've played May-July the economy was as stable as ever. There are some skyrockets but those mostly only occur with craftable items. The market is used for everything and anything except for the really high end gear with good options (stats). Those items are traded in so called "hidden market" among top players and top guilds and occationally over "over the server" chats. I'm not sure how the North American/European Tera's economy will stay afloat though, since KTera had various factors included (End game users are populated, Auto/Bots farm gold heavily for 3rd party sites, etc.)

En Masse will block IPs based on region. Asia, Africa, Russia, and the Middle East are included on the block list. http://news.mmosite.com/content/k/12-01-29/en_masse_entertainment_announced_tera_s_region_based_ip_blocking_1.shtml Also, right now on the server list both servers are listed as PvE. :o

Anyone have any experice in both games can maybe recommend me a class. I have my eye out for the Berserker right now, but having some doubts. Most people that I saw play Berserker, made it look dumb. So if someone could break it down and maybe relate the Tera classes to WoW classes, I would appreciate it. Just want to have my mind made up before this weekend's Tera binge.
