Mass effect 3 COULD be the best of the series but the final arc was horrible, everybody expected the battle for Earth to be similar to the suicide mission, but on steroids, it was nothing like that.
The ending is bad but it doesn't bother me that much really, what bothers me is that the entire franchise was bulding up for one of the most epic moments in gaming history, the military might of the galaxy fighting for Earth, but it turned out SUPER disappointing, war assets play no role on the battle, you're not required to make a single choice during the mission, and Marauder Shields is the final boss?! Seriously, what the fuck!

The final boss was the gauntlet prior to that which, as an infiltrator, I had a bit of trouble with and died the first time. The beam ended up getting my squad because they're retarded and I got swarmed by banshees or whatever.
The game however, was highly disappointing at the end. The battle for earth didn't remotely feel epic--saving the krogan chick was more exciting and thrilling. The whole krogan arc in fact, was way more intense. I was hoping for something better from the ending but it didn't come.

So I just finished it.
In one sentence:
The STORY of Mass Effect 3 is gold but the way it was presented, the SCRIPT, is bad.
When I read a novel, I sometimes find myself correcting the story in my head because I think the author has something good going but messed it up in the details. I did the same thing with ME3.
|
Just me or are people in general really bad at this game? I find myself being force to carry my team immensly about 90% of my Gold runs, it's getting a bit tedious having the same score as the other three combined all game long, feels like I'm all alone out there T.T

Yes. What's more embarressing is that this happens when I play classes like Quarian Engineer and Drell Vanguard.

Did you find a way of making the turret useful?

Drell vanguard is actually pretty decent against Reapers thanks to cluster grenades. Don't know so much about Quarian Engineer.

Spam it everywhere, that be the way to do it!
In a word: no. Just free damage, can be built either long range rockets or flamethrower. hardly matters which.

I mean people aren't like Call of Duty level terrible, but still pretty bad. Thing is that this is a co-op game => you're relying on your teammates, so it really sucks that they always let you down. I'm thinking maybe Bioware should patch in some more filters for lobbies or something to help sort out people of similar skill level.

I played a silver game earlier as an N67, level 19 Asari Adept with the correct spec and weapon loadout and some stupid person wasn't clicking start because he was trying to kick me for having a low N7 number....
Fortunately he eventually gave up when the others wouldn't kick me, but seriously? It's silver and I'm an Asari Adept with bubble stasis and I was basically maximum level with that character. If it was gold I could maybe excuse it for me not being as experienced but damn, do people really find Silver that hard that you need 4 N150+ players generally?
As it turns out I beat his score, and we got a full extraction so I felt vindicated, but it really bugged me.

The beam can kill enemies too, i used that to survive the banshees.
Anyway, if we think of that last reaper as the final boss that is just as bad, the final battle of mass effect 3 is Horde mode, survive X waves and run for the missile controls, lame.

Well Bioware stated that they wanted a less video-gamey end to the game which "excuses" thier lack of real end boss. Guess what, ME3 IS a video game, and I want to fight goddamn Harbinger or at least Harbinger-controlled Illusive Man. I kinda liked the general idea of the ending because a war agains't force so powerful as the Reapers the series has to end with somekind of artistic mindfuck. Well we got our artistic mindfuck, but it is so poorly executed with so little closure, and freakin HARBINGER to fight. And thats a shame, because the other 98% of the game is brilliant. The gameplay is very fun once you get used to moving around. Just a shame that the usual balance issues of EA and Bioware crop up (Overload is slightly OP as fights get easier with 3 guys with lvl 6 Overload, that Prothean pulse rifle is OP as fuck as it melts everything, it's even worse than the Mattock on ME2). Enemies are more interesting to fight with Guardians that encorage team play, grenades that force you to move, Marauders buffing Husks and Cannibals, Brutes that are more interesting to fight than lets say ME2's Scions, the shield and barrier beacons scattered around. I just wish for more enemy variants other than the 3 in ME3. ME2 in comparison had the 3 mercenary groups with troops from all races, Mechs, Geth, Husk varients and Collectors. In ME3 seems that every skill has it's place, and there are ALOT of toys to play with, alot to customize in terms of powers which is a big step up from ME2. Thank god for removing those annoying minigames and mining from ME2. The Reaper galaxy map feels kinda forced and retarded, but it's a very small part of the game and it's not a huge deal.

For me it's not so much that they do little damage or anything, but their situational awareness seems to be non-existent at times.
Most common problems are:
1) Being in the middle of nowhere with no support, then dying, while we're hacking on the other side of the map. Usually Vanguards, Infiltrators, and "I will headbutt everything" Krogan.
2) Not looking around to see incoming threats. This is the only reason I think Geth are difficult. Those freaking hunters sneaking up on tunnel visioners. Playing a 200% Turian Sentinel, I can help them, but only if problem 1 doesn't occur.
3) Hitting the wrong targets. Infiltrators can you please focus on those Ravagars that effectively cut off an entire area, rather than having fun with Marauders? And don't run half the map away from a Banshee, we're supposed to kill it fast or we can never maintain a proper defensive line.

1) Infiltrators have a tough time being useful when every enemy on the map is coming straight at them from multiple angles, and if you have everyone at the hack location inside it you get swarmed really hard. Especially when grenades start flying at you. I agree on the vanguards though, they should be nearby.
2) Yeah, tunnel vision sucks.
3) Infiltrators can do well vs. ravagers and that's usually what I do when I play one, but they're useless vs. a Banshee. Infiltrators pretty much have absolutely nothing they can do to a banshee, they don't even do damage to them really. I find it helps more to have the infiltrator focus on marauders to prevent them from buffing everything while the rest of the team focuses down the banshees, and have them take out the ravagers too. They just don't add anything to taking out the banshee.

Tunnel vision can be improved tho seriously if you just play the game properly..
|
I don't really tunnel vision should be an excuse for bad awareness, as you can just swing the camera around full circle while you're reloading your sniper.

They should have made it so that the ending was a strategy mini-game, based on starcraft engine, controlling your collected forces versus reaper forces. Would have been a better ending, atleast for us TLers. lawl

With a widow / blackwidow infiltrators do really well against banshees, if you can headshot them. Can be difficult to find the right angle though.

You can't headshot banshee ? Oo
They have an enormous head, sound weird if you can't. Having Energy Drain help a lot against banshees, but i agree they're a pain for Infi, with all the teleport and stuff. And there's better class to take down Barrier.
